📷 @samgach A lot of people ask me, how long does it take to get _____ pose, or how long will it take me to learn _____? But I can’t ever know those things. @yogaalignment #Hanumanasana ↔️ #MonkeyPose might be accessible to some, but not others based on a lot of different factors. Read this entire caption, and save it for if you ever get down on yourself for being unable to perform a particular posture. Even if two people practice in the exact same way with the exact same schedule, their results will be different. Because every body is different. Different people have different histories and genetics and bone structures and injuries and fitness levels and mindsets. But people also don’t all practice in the same way, and there is not a single best approach and schedule that is ideal for everyone. What I have found from my journey is how important the process is relative to the results themselves. The journey is when you learn, get stronger, grow. And I have found that when you can truly love the process, the results come much more quickly. 😲So how do we get to where we want to be? ➡️Practice with mindfulness and intention. Know what youre trying to stretch/strengthen and move into it with proper engagement ➡️Move and mobilize the WHOLE BODY. Every part of our body is connected in some way. Tightness in the shoulder could affect the hips and vice versa. ➡️Stretch AND strengthen to make sure we are not creating instability in our joints ➡️Develop correct movement patterns by aligning your body in a way that works for you ➡️Listen to your bodys signals. Instead of taking things one step at a time, we try to expedite the process (trying to force ourselves into poses) to try to take 2 steps forward. This might just force us back a few steps or worse, create injury! ➡️WARM UP BEFORE PRACTICING YOGA! The second clip is my reaction to the “Backbend + Spin Monster” because I thought it was funny when I saw it. I have motion sickness and adding a backbend while spinning really seals the deal. I will still continue to spin though because I love it with a passion. Has anybody else had the issue where their tolerance to spin increased for a while and then started dropping off? For myself, I was getting much better at not getting sick, but I have been stuck with pretty much the same tolerance for a while now. Probably law of diminishing returns :( On a different note the combination in the first video is something that I have been piecing together a while now. Push ups are a great upper body exercise! Many times people struggle with their form and simply give up. Here are three great ways to do a push up! 1) Full push up. You can do this on a bench, wall, table, etc. The higher up the object the easier it will be. 2) Negative push ups. These are hands down the best way to build up your strength to be able to do floor push ups. 3) knee pushups. These are okay if you absolutely cannot do one modified on an object or negative. The core activation is minimal when on your knees. One area that people tend to struggle with pushups is if their core is too weak. Form:: Bring your belly away from your shirt (without moving your hips) Keep your hips inline with the rest of your back (dont drop them low, dont bring them up to the ceiling) Hands are under shoulders Elbows stay close to sides. When at the bottom of a push up they should make a w. Oceans and dolphin pose🌊. Oh how I love oceans and seas and how it breaks my heart to see them polluted as much as they are. Not often enough do we hear about how much plastics pollute the oceans, how innocent animals that mistake it for food or get tangled in it die. And now all the underwater inhabitants face yet another threat - PPE that has not been disposed of well💔. I am absolutely supporting the wearing of face coverings and other PPE but please please please if you do have the chance (and only then), wear a face covering that is not for single use only. And if you wear surgical masks, please chop it after use or at least tear off the bands as birds and another animals get tangled in these. They starve to death. Alone and scared!💔 I added two photos of me wearing a mask - both suitable for washing! The first one I bought at the airport and the second one from a friend who handmade it.
