I have alopecia. Alopecia actually just means hair loss. There are lots of different types (androgenetic alopecia, frontal fibrosing alopecia, telogen effluvium, etc). Too many to list here! I started out with alopecia areata which was patches of hair loss. This is a type where the immune system, for whatever reason, starts to see the hair follicle as a threat & starts to attack it. The immune system cells kind of swarms around the hair follicle preventing the hair from growing. I progressed on from just the patches and lost everything, my hair, my eyebrows, eyelashes, body hair. At this point it was then called alopecia (areata) universalis. Total loss of all hair everywhere. As Im currently sporting half an eyebrow and 90% of my eyelashes Im probably somewhere between alopecia universalis and alopecia (areata) totalis (which is total loss of hair from one area). . My hair loss started as two 10p size patches in May 1995 (age 11). One on each side of my head. They gradually grew over a period of about 6 months. I lost maybe 40/50% of my hair and then they started to fill in. I seem to remember having good regrowth by the January and being able to wear a pony tail again! The following May (1996) it started to fall out pretty rapidly and I lost about 80% over a two week period, the rest followed not long after. I didnt have it for a while and then it started to grow back. By the year 2000 (age 16) I had probably 95% of it back. This continued to fill in over the next few years. But then at the end of 2003 the patches started again. I lost maybe 30/40% over a few months but AGAIN (!) they started to fill in. And AGAIN, a few months later it all came out pretty rapidly over the course of a couple of weeks (age 20). Since then Ive had it try to grow back a few times but nothing more than a small patch of hair. I did have one eyebrow (just the one!) grow back for about five years which is the period of time that this photo was taken! . Fashion show backstage experiences can be anywhere from mindnumbing to an enlightening borderline psychedelic trip depending on who you talk to and how much hairspray you breathe in. Sometimes however you forget to bring a book and are in your own world staring at an array of walls, ceilings, and floors after you’ve memorized everyone’s name, dietary preference, and country of origin.. Anyways.. these pics recently surfaced and reminded me on that day after havin a few coffee chats with a few extremely excited and exciting influencers (one of which preferred almond, the other, oat milk), I found a not-so-busy corner to write a dystopian short story after our nespresso (#notanad) machine broke and the conversations waned.. set in a world where nobody has anything tangible to do .. to resolve their perpetual angst and suffering they come to realize that the best way to help themselves is to help the other.. so they spend their time drinking coffee, helping other people feel as motivated as they do about helping eachother. But then the coffee runs out and all hell breaks loose as nobody is motivated to motivate and as such the next person is not motivated to motivate ... Anyways... feelin a bit fogged and far from motivated today, which begs the question should one be doing things they need incessant motivation to do? IDK the answer, but what I do know is that I have coffee and the help I need, #motivationmonday, is only four days away so I’ll keep doing em anyways! All good things come to an end. Det är tyvärr dags att för denna trion att splittras. Bara att skriva detta gör ont i hjärtat. Vi har varit tillsammans sen dag ett. Men nu går vi över från områdespoliser till IGV (Ingripande verksamhet) men tyvärr inte i samma grupp. Jag är så tacksam över att få ha haft dessa människor som mina kollegor. Tacksam över att jag fått ha en gruppchef som jag kunnat se upp till. Tacksam över att jag hamnat i en grupp med erfarna kollegor som välkomnat oss sen dag ett. Alla minnen vi skapat, händelser vi gått igenom tillsammans, musiken ni utvecklat på er spotifylista, skrattanfallen vi dagligen haft och danserna som tack och lov inte spridit sig allt för mycket på sociala medier. Jag är så glad över att jag kan gå med handen på hjärtat och säga att jag har vänner för livet. Vänner som jag vet alltid kommer ha min rygg och har samma galna humor som mig (humor är så viktigt!). All good things come to an end, but only if you know that your ending things. Detta är bara en paus, detta är inte slutet. Jag vet att vi kommer bli ett band igen och då kommer vi spela ännu bättre 💪🏾💙. Men nu är det vidare för nästa kapitel för och fylla på kunskapsbanken. Hoppas nästa grupp är redo för min Spotify 🎵.
