The excavator had to be positioned as a brace to hold the corner up because it was about to fall onto 195. Two factory units gutted in fire mishap in Sopore Sopore, Oct 01 : A spice grinding factory and a bandsaw unit got completely damaged after they went up in flames in Nowpora area of Sopore in north Kashmirs Baramulla district on the intervening night of Wednesday-Thursday. An official told that fire broke out in the two units at around 2 am in the night. Locals with the help of fire tenders managed to douse the flames at around 6 am but could not save the units and property worth lakhs was damaged in the mishap, he said. He said that both the units belonged to one Nazir Ahmad dar of Nowpora locality of Sopore. Solving challenging glass demands is a Benson specialty, and our team is always up to overcome a challenge. And a challenge is exactly what the Oregon Zoos latest expansion offered us—a brand new polar bear exhibit. Designed by CLR Design in Philadelphia, Pa., this exhibit will house polar bears that can reach up to 1,200 lbs, travel at 25 mph and, while standing in their hind legs, can reach a staggering 10 feet tall. A big challenge calls for some big glass. The glass for this project was specifically engineered using four distinct layers, reaching a maximum thickness of 3 and 1/4 inches. Designed to withstand the strength of polar bears, the largest piece for this exhibit is nearly 3,600 lbs and is just shy of 14 feet wide. The general contractor for the project, Lease Crutcher Lewis, has assisted greatly on the challenges that come with glass of this scale. As seen in the photos below, safety is always a priority on the jobsite and maneuvering this size of glass is but another challenge that Benson tackled.
