My good buds at @vidoolymedia have published a great report on the state of digital video in 2019. 2019 has been the year of the rise of Tiktok and Instagram in India. In my view the numbers clout of tiktok growth has been more than matched by the premium clout of Insta - if you know what I mean. Every brand manager and media buyer wants to know what the Insta number is of a tiktok star and it’s almost an after thought now, what the Facebook followers are (most of the new age stars aren’t using FB - they’re just on Insta and tiktok and maybe snap). So I took the Insta snapshot of the most viewed profiles in the report and dove deeper into REAL engagement. Likes and comments - remember likes are cheap - a quick double tap and move on is the way a lot of millennials and Gen Zs will consume Insta. To stop and comment is the REAL ACID TEST. Another month, another challenge completed!! I couldn’t be happier that I found the challenger community created by Don and Mel! Earlier this summer, I was scrolling on Insta and saw @vancityreynolds recommending Don as a trainer and noting that he had started at-home challenges due to Covid. It took a couple of months for me to join because I was a little intimidated. I didn’t know if I had what it took to do the challenges. Finally, I gave in and joined the July challenge, and I’m so glad I did. I’ve learned so much over the last couple of months about having a better relationship with food and pushing my body to see physical results. For the first time ever in my life, I’m starting to see abs, and if you told me two months ago, I’d be doing 207 push ups on a Saturday morning, I would have laughed in your face. I’ve also gotten back to my meditation and journaling, which has kept me in such a better mindset this month. I really feel like we have a strong team that is full of positivity and keeps each other motivated. Thank you @donsaladino for creating these programs and keeping them going and to my fellow challengers for helping to keep me going. #BatBroScale - The Rude American MOAB Speed BBCOR: this was an interesting one - one of our early tournament favorites that got knocked off by a sleeper; the Voodoo One. The MOAB Speed if definitely pretty endloaded, so don’t go into it expecting a very light bat - we honestly think it’s still a power hitting bat. The sweet spot was big, but it’s further out on the barrel than a lot of bats - which made the bat seem even more endloaded because you couldn’t really afford to be late and take a ball more towards the hands. The power was pretty solid, but we were surprisingly able to hit balls just as far with the much lighter Voodoo One. And lastly - more of an intangible - none of us could really get in a groove with this bat. We took probably 50 swings each and had a hard time controlling the bat and finding barrel. • 15 to 16: Single-A - not a huge fan 17 to 18: Double-A - decent bat, pretty average performance 19 to 20: Triple-A - pretty good bat, but we think there are some better options out there 21 to 22: Big League - great bat. bat bro approved 23 to 24: Cooperstown - GOAT territory • Bottom line: due to BBCOR restrictions, THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A PERFECT BAT. Between power, sweet spot, and swing weight, every bat is going to have to compromise in at least one category. • And lastly, this is just our opinion - to be fair it’s the collective opinion of multiple Division 1 baseball players who swing bats for a living - but at the end of the day, it’s just our own perspective and opinion and you’re more than welcome to disagree 🤙 - @baseballbatbros on Instagram

Starting next week, ALL students (virtual or in-person) will follow this bell schedule. HVA students are expected to attend their classes virtually at the same time as they would if in the building, although recordings will be posted online for those who cannot attend. Live lessons will take place during the first 45 minutes of each block, and the second 45 minutes will be reserved for working on assignments (although check with hour teachers for specifics). Students at school will eat lunch in their 3rd block classrooms. Students will have assigned seats in each block to allow for contact tracing should a student or teacher contract COVID-19. Students and teachers are required to wear masks while at school, and desks will be sanitized between each class period. The building will open at 7:45, and NCTHS students will wait in the library until the 8:15 dismissal to first block. If you have questions, ask your teachers. Please make sure to bring your laptop with you to school. I can’t believe we are finishing Week #4 of the Suit Up Challenge...it seems like September just started! These challenges go quicker every month. As this was my third challenge, I wanted to focus more on my nutrition. I’ve been tracking what I eat every day on the Cronometer app since the beginning of the challenge and recognize I have some work to do to balance out the proteins, carbs, and fat that I’m eating. However, I’m still so happy with the results I keep seeing from these challenges, and it’s great to get the support from the other challengers. @donsaladino and @mel.ic.ious have started an amazing community and program, and it gets better every month!! Just some of the things I’ve learned... #1 Listen to your body! If you’re tired, rest and recover so you can charge the next day. #2 Food (especially carbs) is not the enemy! Your body needs this fuel to keep your energy up and metabolism burning. #3 Water, water, water...but not too much water! I’ve been following the 50% of body weight in ounces rule, and it’s been working. #4 Pushing yourself is much easier when your teammates have your back! You guys really are the best...I feel like I can totally be my crazy, energetic self and love the support we all have for each other! Feeling blessed to live in one of the safest places in New Jersey. Avalon, Stone Harbor and Sea Isle combining for only 8 active cases total at the moment and 0 fatalities from Covid. Also one of the safest counties- recording 28 fatalities (of 86 total deaths in county) outside of nursing homes since the beginning of the pandemic. With a year round population of about 91,000 and summer population in the hundreds of thousands, it is good news that our area has been relatively safe. State wide we are seeing (if you count all the recorded hospitalizations as purely covid based) up to 450 people in the hospital- .005% of state population. When understanding hemodynamics and shock, it is important to understand the pathophysiology. Knowing what makes up the mean arterial pressure (or MAP) is a great starting point because all types of shock affect this. ❤️ The mean arterial pressure is 2/3 of the diastolic blood pressure plus 1/3 of the systolic blood pressure. It’s the number that’s below the blood pressure on most telemetry monitors. ❤️ Cardiac Output (CO): this is determined by the stroke volume (SV) and Heart Rate (HR). Contractility, preload, and afterload determine the stroke volume. 💕 PRELOAD: the stretch of sarcomeres during ventricular filling. Think LVEDP (left ventricular end diastolic blood pressure). 💕AFTERLOAD: pressure that the heart works against to allow ventricular contraction. 💕 CONTRACTILITY: an elusive term, but it’s basically how strong the heart is when pumping. More on this when we discuss the “tropies”!! 🤓 ❤️ The systemic vascular resistance (SVR) is what creates the blood pressure. It is determined by the length of the vessels and it is inversely proportional to the radius to the fourth power. This means that the higher the radius, the less the SVR is...by A LOT. This relationship is important to identify when looking at shock because the slightest change in the radius of a vessel can change the SVR profoundly.
