Following the recent announcement by the State Government to support outdoor dining and reclaiming carparks as dining spaces, I am happy to share that @sisterofsoul_stk_rich have been working with @cityofportphillip for nearly 2 months to overcome the impact COVD has had on our ability to trade Together, we’ve designed a Parklet solution that not only increases the pedestrian zone to people walking from the Beach to Acland Street and vice versa, but also allow us to offset the loss of indoor dining with outdoor trade. During our discussions, the Council have been incredibly supportive and progressive. Still on a high from this weekend and witnessing an entire community come together in less than 24 hrs to donate 12 big truckloads worth of supplies, which were caravanned over to Wenatchee Valley Humane Society, where animals have been displaced due to the fires. The plan was finalized on Friday, donations accepted Saturday, and went directly to the animals in need on Sunday. Michelle Brunz Snyder is a rockstar for organizing everything in record time, and I’m so grateful to have been able to work alongside every single person who was involved. The energy that day was probably the most positive thing I’ve experienced since March. This group of volunteers - and the generosity of the Pacific Northwest community - always manages to restore my faith in humanity. 🙏🏽💗 “Look for the helpers. Leadership Fremont’s class of 2020, a professional development program organized by the Fremont Chamber of Commerce, is proud to announce we raised over $35,000 for Bay Area Community Health (BACH) previously called Tri-City Health Center. Donations were used to purchase a refrigerated van for their Food Farmacy program. The program distributes rescued food as medicine to help patients in the Tri-City area who are experiencing food insecurity and had medical screenings indicating hypertension, diabetes, malnutrition, or obesity. . Yet over 15K attended the night market- doubling attendance from last year. We deeply apologize for turning away many people on Friday due to capacity limits. But we had to keep it safe. To the Castro Valley High School Key Club volunteers, I know everything we went over at orientation got thrown out the door and you got put into the lion’s den when you had to tell all the hangry people that box office was closed or sales are being suspended for an hour. To the individual volunteers who replied to the volunteer requests thank you for taking on new, multiple positions and even positions created on the spot to make operations run better. * 2020 UPDATE! Hi! We hope you are doing OK and keeping in good health. We want to update you about Vegfest 2020. We decided that we will not be hosting Dublin Vegfest this year. We waited until the “reopening” had happened and people started to move around again before publishing this. We felt this would help people appreciate our decision and it won’t come as a big surprise! Obviously this is disappointing as a huge amount of work had gone into the event already this year before the severity of the pandemic became evident. Cancelling Vegfest for this year is the most appropriate thing to do. We want to extend our sympathies to people who have lost a relative or loved one during the pandemic. And say thank you to anyone that has worked to provide our essential services. Especially our nurses and health care workers. We will miss working with our brilliant crew this year. Seeing attendees filling the event with energy. Our wonderful speakers and event hosts. Thank you all for making each previous year’s event possible and boosting veganism in Ireland. We were back on the road this past Sunday with our first bus-based tour in over five months. Our Birds on Tap-Roadtrip Shorebirds and Steins tour featured some great birding outside at Pine Point and Scarborough Marsh. We then celebrated with beers and snacks at @nonesuchriverbrewing in Scarborough and a few more beers at @breweryextrava in Portland. Thanks to everyone who helped make this first outing possible. We will take the lessons learned and apply them to any future bus tours we might offer in the coming weeks.
