The strangest weapons of ww2, the anti-tank dogs. During the 1st world war, dogs were important for all the belligerents and were used for a lot of things. So the Soviets had the idea of using dogs to destroy enemy tanks. So today we are going to see the most famous strange weapon of this project. In the 1930s therefore, the Soviets built schools to train dogs, first with circus trainers and hunters. The initial idea of sending a dog which then set a bomb under a tank by cutting a rope with its teeth is abandoned because it is far too difficult for a dog. German Shepherds (the dogs chosen by the Soviets) were then used as Kamikazes: The next plan was that the dog would die, but the bomb would successfully detonate. The dog would run underneath a tank, with something sticking out of the top of the bomb, so once it made contact with the tank, it would explode . When the Germans invaded the Soviet Union in 1941, anti-tank dogs were therefore used during the Battle of Moscow. But everything did not go as planned. Indeed, the Soviets had trained their dogs on Soviet tanks running on diesel, while the German tanks used gasoline. Thus, the smell of the dogs did not work and in case of the presence of Soviet tanks, we can easily guess the result. In addition, the dogs had been trained to position themselves under immobilized tanks. But in a combat situation and with all the noise that entails, the dogs were frightened, even more so as the tanks moved forward. Most often, they waited for the tank to stop but the Germans killed them long before. Finally, very often sent as a sacrifice, the dogs retreated in panic towards the trenches where their masters were. When they jumped into the trenches, they exploded, killing all the soldiers around them. With the new COD approaching we wanted to look back at some of the COD classics! Starting off with COD 4 MW(2007)! Overall this was the cod that put the franchise on the map as it shouldve. The multiplayer was amazing with the 10 prestiges ranking system, awesome weapons like the M4, G3, M60, and R700 as well as the phenomenal MP maps like crossfire, crash, vacant, SHIPMENT, ambush, bog etc. The campaign was amazing as you played from the viewpoints of the Marines and SAS vs Spetsnaz and Opfor. Sekilas info, Leichter : Ringan, Ladungsträger : Pembawa Bahan Peledak dan Goliath adalah nicknamenya. Goliath sebenarnya terdiri dari 3 varian, yaitu Sd.Kfz. 302 yang bergerak dengan tenaga listrik dan Sd.Kfz. 303a serta Sd.Kfz. 303b yang bergerak dengan menggunakan bahan bakar solar. Goliath dikembangkan sejak tahun 1940 oleh Carl F.W. Bogward. Prototype pertamanya yaitu Sd.Kfz. 302 mampu membawa bahan peledak sebanyak 60kg. Tapi kendaraan ini hanya mampu bergerak sejauh 1.6km sebelum baterainya habis dan punya biaya produksi yang lumayan mahal. Setelah itu di akhir tahun 1942, Bogward membuat Sd.Kfz. 303a yang ditenagai oleh mesin solar dengan jarak operasional ±11km dan Sd.Kfz. 303b yang lebih besar serta mampu membawa 100kg bahan peledak. Goliath dikendalikan dengan triple-strand control cable yang memiliki panjang 650 meter. Dua kabel berfungsi untuk mengendalikan gerakan serta arah Goliath dan satu kabel lainnya untuk memicu bahan peledak yang dibawanya. Operator mengendalikan Goliath dengan menggunakan control box seperti joystick. Produksi : ±7.500 unit Goliath. Kelemahan Goliath! Walaupun ROV ini terdengar sangat maju dan memang menjadi pionir dari penggunaan robot dalam pertempuran, namun Goliath masih memiliki banyak kekurangan. Goliath berukuran lumayan besar dan memiliki berat ±430kg. Walaupun besar dan berat, armornya hanya setebal ±10mm yang artinya ada beberapa senapan anti-tank yang bisa menembusnya. Goliath juga memiliki kecepatan yang lambat, hanya sekitar 10km/jam. Dengan kecepatan ini, musuh bisa dengan mudah memotong kabel yang ada di Goliath dan boom, ranjau ini langsung tidak berguna lagi. Elements of the British 43rd (Wessex) Infantry Division fighting in Kleve, Germany on February 10, 1945. This was one of two towns (the other being Goch) that the Germans fortified behind the West Wall in the Reichswald Forest. Notice the Valentine Mk 1 Archer tank destroyer at the beginning of the film. The forward-most defensive German unit in the town, the 84th Infantry Division, was essentially wiped out in the fighting, and the British were able to secure Kleve on February 11th. From there the 43rd Division proceeded to advance 4½ miles to the high ground which overlooked Goch. Over the next few weeks the British experienced more heavy fighting as they worked to secure Goch, notably between February 18th and 21st. - @theworldwars on Instagram
