When I was a little gay kid, afraid of everything and living in Rio Medio, Veracruz, I never imagined that one day I was going to be somewhere celebrating being a joto with two guys that were there, close to me, also gay, and also afraid. . . Since I came back home to Mexico I became sad, confused, and didnt know what I was doing with my life. Somehow I ran into @_dilsexia. I wanted to teach ballroom somewhere but I couldnt find where. We became best friends pretty fast. I was giving up and one day he came to me and said so are you teaching or not 🙄. I felt the pressure and I went for it. . . That was the best decision I made last year. I instructed 4 times and during the last session @bullasanchezp showed up. The first thing I said to him was this cant be your first class, where did you learn?. He told me he found ballroom years a ago in the internet and hes been learning by himself since. . . Since then, weve been training together and building a family. They say that while you vogue you must tell your own history, you must tell who you are. I can see myself through them; they are part of my story; they embody the things I love. We share the jokes, the feeling, the sass, the jiribilla and the everything that means being jarocho and joto, papi. . . Last week was the first time they walk a ball. Honoured to have taken on the role of Lady Liberty in this collaborative project with @asiko_artist to celebrate and interrogate the sixty years of Nigeria’s Independence from British colonial rule. Nigerian Renaissance is a new photographic project created by Nigerian visual artist àsìkò. Inspired by the Romantic era 1830 oil painting ‘Liberty Leading the People’ by Frenchman Eugene Delacroix, the conceptual series are symbolic of a vision of Nigeria stepping out of the shadows of the past into a new dawn. Compiled of stills and moving images, the work conceptualizes thoughts and reflections on revolution and rebirth. The images draw from the narrative of the collective consciousness of the people imbibed within the female archetype Liberty, who is leading the charge and shifting mindsets into a new Nigeria. A better Nigeria free from corruption and tribalism and one where we band together to become the best version we could possibly be. In moving forward, archaic ideologies and corrupt institutional structures are broken down and left in the wake of the new movement. The people around her embody Nigerians, our different ethnicities united under one course, one of change, one longing for a better existence. We as Nigerians are marching forward over old establishments and crooked leaderships. 📸 Introducing the man behind the camera, Amari James (aka @greaterbythehour). We worked with Amari, an up-and-coming South London photographer, to capture the portraits for our Characters of Coldharbour Lane series. “I got into photography by experimenting. When I was growing up I was influenced by my Dads videography business called AME Polite Drones, which got me into cameras. I took on graphic design from the ages 11-14 years old until I craved for something more. Thats how I started photography. My approach to taking portraits of people is to be kind and welcoming towards them, portraits are a very intimate way of photographing someone. Im fine meeting new people for the first time but trying to take a photo of them is a different story. To combat the growing anxiety I ask them how they are and what they do, I try to find a common ground so the conversation connects. I thoroughly enjoyed working on the Coldharbour Lane project with Brixton Brewery. Wow... Heute habt ihr mich ein bisschen überwältigt. So viele Neue auf einmal, damit hätte ich nie gerechnet. Erst mal danke!!! Neben veganen Rezepten, die immer sehr praktikabel gehalten sind, teile ich hier gerne meine Texte. Auch unter Essensbildern, verstecke ich gerne Botschaften, bzw mir ist der Platz hier meist zu wertvoll, um nur Rezepte zu teilen. Ist ja irgendwie auch was Besonderes, die Chance zu haben, mit dem was man so macht, ein paar Menschen zu erreichen. Rezepte sind zwar schön und gut, aber mir geht es einfach um so viel mehr. Der Austausch mit euch ist mir zudem besonders wichtig. Damit ihr mal in kürze einen Eindruck von mir bekommt, 10 random Fakten über mich: 1. Gelb ist meine Lieblingsfarbe, was hier auch immer wieder sichtbar ist. 💛 2. Ich kann keine warmen Pilze essen, wegen der Konsistenz.🍄 3. Die Frage Meer oder Berge beantworte ich mit: beides.🏝🏔 4. Ich trage immer zwei verschiedene Socken, was meine tägliche kleine Erinnerung ist, mich nicht an die Gesellschaft anzupassen zu müssen und mir immer, ein Stück Freiheit, zu behalten. 🧦 5. Ich träume gerne; bin Nachtmensch, und spiele gerne mit Worten (ok das waren irgendwie 3 Fakten)🌘 6. Ich esse am liebsten alles, was mit Obst zu tun hat.🍌 7. Musik, kann mich in alle möglichen Stimmungen versetzen... schwinge da super schnell mit.🎼🎧 8. Oberflächlicher Smalltalk nervt mich... (sagte sie und schrieb, die unnötigsten Fakten, über sich auf)🙈 9. Ich hätte gerne Pflanzen, meine Katzen fressen aber alles, was grün ist ... ja zum Beispiel auch Brokkoli, Kräuter, Salat und eben Pflanzen Blätter 🌱 10. Lernt mich einfach hier, bisschen weiter kennen... diese Fakten reichen halt null aus, um einen Menschen zu beschrieben. Jetzt würde mich aber interessieren, wer ihr so seid? La costante che ha sempre segnato il mio percorso dall’età adolescenziale ad oggi è stata indubbiamente la creatività. A volte, come nella foto postata, devo triplicarmi o quadruplicarmi per mantenere fede alle date di scadenza che comunico ai miei clienti, ma è il “bello della diretta”. Bei so einem Gewinnspiel sammelt man zwischen 1000-3000 neue Follower. In der Regel! Ich will in diesem Beitrag weder darüber werten, noch Urteilen. Was passiert jetzt mit den ganzen neuen Followern? Ein sehr großer Anteil wird nach Ablauf des Gewinnspiels wieder entfolgen. Was für Instagram ein negatives Zeichen ist, da du schnell viele Follower verlierst. Es ist nicht sicher welchen Aspekt der Algorithmus als wertvoller erachtet. Der schnelle Anstieg oder doch der rapide Abfall? Eines sollten wir aber immer bedenken. Der Algorithmus von Instagram ist deutlich schlauer und weiß mehr über unser Tun und Handeln, als wir glauben. Man verliert also einen großen Satz an Follower und von denen, die einem nach Ablauf des Gewinnspiels bleiben, kann man wohl kaum Engagement erwarten. Die Motivation zu folgen basiert schließlich rein auf der Tatsache des Gewinnspiels und null aufgrund Interesse an deiner Person! Been walking with this guy for a decade. It hasn’t always been easy but we’re still striding and striving. We’ve come a long way; and if the last year — building the world’s first mosaic tile basketball court, performing live at the MGM Grand, being featured at Coachella, and creating a community experience in Chiraq for NBA All Star weekend — says anything about the next 10 years, we have a lot to look forward to. I’m especially proud of what we’ve done over the last 5, focusing on social causes with our Build Courts Not Walls campaign and now @thehoopbus — using our platform and privilege to lift up others and build community. And now, almost 60 years after MLK Marched, we are embarking on a cross country tour to end racism, culminating in my hometown of Washington, DC August 28th for the @marchonwash2020 . Hi , Im Noam. I moved to TLV 5 years ago from a religious settlement in the West Bank. In my early days I used to live in apartments I was renovating because I couldnt afford the insanely high rent here. Today I direct films but Im passionate about creative content of all sorts. My favorite part of the city is the beach, thats definitely where youll find me. Having traveled for 2 years across Europe, Asia and South America, TLV is still my favorite city. Yet, its full of distractions and it can sometimes you off balance. That’s why for two weeks, every year, I go and stay on the beach far from the city. It helps me chill and and remind myself that it’s all just a game. I love the food in this city, everything is a walking distance. I love that its so dog-friendly (I live with two) and the fact that all genders and religions here get along.
