A day around the helispot. The rain came in as we were slinging gear out getting ready to fly off the fire. A lot of fires in Alaska are very remote, so crews rely on helicopters to do a lot. We use them for crew shuttling and moving gear to and from the fire but the list goes on. First photo: the ship pulling some backhaul off the fire. Vessel aground! Air Station Savannah recently hoisted two individuals to safety after their vessel ran aground on a rock-constructed jetty near St. Mary’s Inlet, Florida. The crew executed a 50-foot hoist with zero illumination and we were able to safely transport the men back to solid ground. La Armada de Colombia inició el proyecto de transferencia del buque tipo Patrol Combat Corvette – PCC 768, de la República de Corea, siendo este el segundo buque que Corea le transfiere al país, tras haber incorporado en el año 2013 el ARC “Nariño”. La Corbeta se incorporará a la Institución Naval con el nombre de ARC “Almirante Tono”, héroe nacional de la República de Colombia, siendo este el segundo al mando de la escuadra que triunfó en la Batalla del Lago de Maracaibo a orden del Almirante José Prudencio Padilla López el 24 de Julio de 1823, victoria que fue crucial para la independencia de nuestro país. Were pleased to announce our selection by the @fbi to assist with their Critical Incident Response Group (CIRG) program. Oak Grove will provide pilots for the UH-60 aircraft fleet and will be responsible for the management and operations to ensure the program’s success. CIRG’s primary focus involves responding to critical incidents regarding counter terrorism and preventing weapons of mass destruction #wmd. FBI has an aviation division to support these missions with a fleet of fixed and rotary-wing aircraft, including the Sikorsky UH-60M #blackhawk aircraft. The pilots are required to adhere to strict rotation to be able to provide 24 hours, 7 days/week, and 365 day-per-year response capability. Were honored to be selected by the FBI to provide this important role. These pilots are the best of the best, and it’s critical to manage all the details from their required training hours to their assigned missions. Under the CIRG program, pilots are required to be available to depart almost immediately once notified. Along with preventing WMD activity, they’re often flying into harm’s way to perform inserts and/or extractions in potentially contaminated areas, formation flights, and support MEDEVAC emergencies. #ourservicecontinues - @oakgrovetechnologies on Instagram

All at New Brighton RNLI wish to extend their sincere sympathies to the family involved in yesterday’s tragedy. Our thoughts are with them at this difficult time. New Brighton RNLI along with RNLI Hoylake Lifeboat Station and RNLI Lifeguards North West from New Brighton and Harrison Drive responded to yesterday’s incident after two walkers and a dog got into difficulty on the promenade off Portland slipway. The Wirral Coastguard Rescue Team was also tasked. Weather conditions at the time were not good with a strong north west wind force 6, gusting up to 7 and a flooding tide. On arrival, our inshore lifeboat crew rescued the man and dog from the water and we would like to wish them a speedy recovery. WE ARE HOME! A message from our first mate Merle on behalf of the crew Yesterday we arrived in Scheveningen after more than 80 days at sea, sailing the Europa across the Atlantic Ocean from the Southern tip of Argentina to the Netherlands. And what a welcome we received! It is hard to describe the feeling one might have when coming back to land after such a long time away, not knowing how the world might have changed in the months that have passed. This voyage was unexpected to everyone and the reason behind it not a happy one, the future unclear. And even-though we had a wonderful time and a lot of fun, most of us spent the very last days of this trip with mixed feelings; happy to go home and see our families but also a little bit afraid to leave our safe (and Corona-free) Europa bubble. But all that was forgotten as we sailed through the piers and found that so many friends and loved ones had made their way to Scheveningen to welcome us home What a wonderful surprise! We would like to thank everyone for all the support and the lovely messages that we were sent during the last 12 weeks and for the simply amazing welcome (especially for all the fresh fruits that we longed for so much!! :-). Thanks to everyone who came to Scheveningen and thank you to all of you who stayed safely at home and followed us via the live-stream. Of course a big thank you to the KNRM and Jachtclub Scheveningen, who were the first ones welcoming us with a fleet of supporting yachts and a large box of the tastiest herrings. thanks for all the fish! After countless ferocious storms and heroic Lifeboat rescues, it became obvious that the St.Ives Lifeboat station required a larger and more powerful Lifeboat. In June 1898 a new larger 37ft 6 / 12 oared self righting lifeboat was ordered and built by the Thames Ironworks Shipbuilding & Engineering Company Limited, Blackwall. On the 19th December 1899 she had her harbour trial which proved satisfactory. She was to be named the JAMES STEVENS No10 at the request of Mr James Stevens who had left the RNLI a legacy of £50,000 ( 6.5 million pounds in todays money ) This donation built 20 RNLI lifeboats and each boat was named after him. The first journey of the lifeboat JAMES STEVENS No10 began on a steam train, she left London Paddington on 27th December 1899 and arrived at Hayle, Cornwall on 2nd January 1900. A large crane was used to lift the lifeboat off the railway carriage and lower her into the water. On Wednesday 3rd of January the St.Ives lifeboat crew sailed her from Hayle to her new home in St.Ives, there was a stiff breeze blowing and the crew reported that she sailed beautifully. A large crowd had gathered at St.Ives harbour to witness the arrival of the new lifeboat and after being recovered onto her carriage the boat was pulled to the lifeboat station. The JAMES STEVENS No10 was on service as the St.Ives Lifeboat from 1900 to 1933, during this time this Lifeboat and her crews performed many heroic rescues. Loving seeing everyone’s memories of #mysydney2000 .... yesterday was 20 years ago that I brought the Olympic flame into Bondi Beach as part of the Torch relay - the day before the opening Ceremony for the Sydney Games. I was 14 years old and I had one of the most visible legs of the relay in a city full of Olympic fever. There were thousands of people lined on the cliffs watching the flame come in, not to mention the air and sea escort we had of people trying to get close to it. I had never seen anything like it and I had no clue what I was actually doing until I saw the crowds. I passed the torch around when we got to North Bondi so we could all take it in. And of course, we decided we should catch a wave, much to the horror of all the helicopters covering it for tv. These boats are a quarter of a tonne and we needed to wait for one big enough, plus we knew we only had one chance. After waiting for a while we chose one - when it was apparent we were going to catch it the crew started yelling at me. Stand up!! Get up!! Which resulted in the photo here that went a little bit around the world. I hit the beach and the crowd went nuts, broke the barricade and rushed me, resulting in my assigned security team having to come in to get me and drag me through it. To this day probably the most surreal experience of my life. And I still have the torch. 📟 Saturday 6th June 2020 📟 Whilst on patrol yesterday the team were asked to visit Dover Harbour to offer words of advice to 2 kayakers who had been recovered by the launch Dovorian having been swept across the harbour. On returning to patrol we were then tasked to a yacht anchored off Hythe which was causing concern. Dover Lifeboat was launched and although on arrival the occupant seemed fine, the decision was made with him to tow him back to Dover Harbour for his safety, given the weather conditions and particularly as he was struggling to make comms with the CG Operations room should he have needed assistance. We met him at Dover Harbour to offer words of advice ensuring he communicates with the Coastguard re his intentions and has all the necessary equipment for his voyage. Today we continue our safety patrols. While we have seen an increase in visitors we are happy to report that we have not had to intervene and initiate a rescue. Everyone so far has been sensible while visiting the coast, staying on safe ground and not wandering out towards the mud. Please remember to keep your dogs on leads while on Brean Down as they may fall off the side while exploring and chasing new sights and smells. On 21 July, HMCS Fredericton conducted a Committal of Ashes ceremony for six souls, five sailors who previously served in the RCN and one CAF chaplain. The ceremony was conducted on the ship’s transit home to Halifax. PO1 Phil Anderson baked a bread wreath and anchor to give to the sea in honour of the six souls who chose the Atlantic ocean as their final resting place. - This is one of the last pictures of Abbigail Cowbrough. She was part of the NATO exercise helicopter team that dispatched from the HMCS Fredicton that crashed yesterday. Unsure of how many lives are missing and/or lost, but she was the first found and confirmed. RIP and thank you for your service.
