Lets talk about Avatar the Last Airbender. I want all of you to be aware that the show took Inuit culture to create the Southern and Northern water tribes. They exploited indigenous cultures without collaboration with those from that area, and it is only right that those represented are Inuit. Why is this important? We barely have representation and when we do, we are hyper sexualized on screen for the white gaze (Disney’s Pocahontas) or two, we’re animals for more than half the movie (Brother Bear).
