As we remember the victims of the terrorist attacks on 911 and the first responders who bravely rushed in to help. We’d like to acknowledge one man who worked tirelessly to make sure “never forget” isn’t just a nice sounding slogan…. One year ago today, we lost a very important member of our judo family at far too young of an age. Nobody saw it coming and there were no signs that he was battling with depression. I wish he had given us a sign or spoken up so we could have let him know just how much he meant to all of us and how much he was loved by everyone. Although he did not get his chance to reach his lifelong goal of competing in the Olympic Games in Tokyo, he taught us something far more important and that is to cherish the time we spend with others and take nothing for granted. Wins, Losses, making teams, fighting over little things, worrying about being popular, money, success, etc...does not really matter in the grand scheme of things. Spend time with the ones you love, enjoy every moment of life, and do what makes you happy, but do not care what anybody thinks. Jack Hatton, you will be missed forever but never forgotten. Thank you for blessing me with your life, and for calling me your Sensei. I look forward to seeing you again. First World Cup of the year is DONE. Came back with a 6th place 💪 Now this is my favorite way to start a new year 🤨 Only 4 World Cups left before the US Olympic team is decided. Wenn man die vergangen Jahre revue passieren lässt, waren es für mich die erfolgreichsten Jahre beim HC Elbflorenz Dresden. Nach dem Aufstieg aus der Verbandsliga Ost in die Sachsenliga, schnuppern wir dort ein Jahr rein und holten im darauf folgenden Jahr die Meisterschaft und den Pokalsieg. Danach ging es nach Hamburg zum DHB Amateurpokal. In der Mitteldeutschen Oberliga sah es genau so aus. Ein Jahr schnuppern im nächsten Jahr Meisterschaft. Da ist sie nun die Meisterschale. Nun spielen wir noch Relegation um den Aufstieg in die 3. Liga. Unheimlich stolz auf das Team bzw. die Teams der letztens Jahre. Holy guacamole I won a thing! I am so honoured to have been awarded the L.E. Ted Jones Award of distinction from the UofT Engineering Alumni Network. This award recognizes a graduate’s contribution to the arts throughout their undergraduate degree. —Though it’s often an artist’s successes that are publicly shared and recognized, pursuing a career in the arts comes with a lot of rejection and a lot of failure. The truth is, majority of the time you arent getting the part. So resilience, dedication, and internal motivation are all apart of the job. With that being said, I feel fortunate to be in a position that gives me the security to pursue the arts, so here comes the sappy part where I talk about how grateful I am. I am so fortunate to have the support of my @uoftengineering community when it comes to my artistic pursuits. To be standing next to so many extraordinary individuals who were being awarded for their contributions to engineering and society was an incredibly inspiring and humbling experience. This weeks Lapua IWK 2020 in Berlin is the first international cup held in Germany this year! Shooters compete in various .22lr rifle and pistol events as well as air rilfe/pistol. So far, results look pretty good - in the .22 lr rifle 3x40 mens event, Lapua Team member Peter Sidi (HUN) won with Steffen Olsen (DEN) taking silver and Tomasz Bartnik (POL) securing the bronze. All three medalists use Lapua ammunition. In the womens event, Rikke Ibsen (DEN) shooting Lapua took silver. Congrats to all! I keep thinking about heart in this time.... on this day 6 years ago, I won the Chicago Golden Gloves. I remember how focused I was training twice a day but mostly I remember constantly repeating to myself “I’m gonna win the Golden Gloves, I’m gonna win the Golden Gloves” - like a broken record... after I won someone asked me, what would you have done if you didn’t win? And it was at that moment I realized, I had never thought about not winning. That’s a lesson I have carried with me to this day. Your willpower, your heart, is your gift, stay close to it. A little late but last week were the final rounds of @orlandokartcenter club races. On Saturday I qualified 6, finished prefinal 6, and finished final 5. Sunday was a much better day, qualifying 3, finishing the prefinal 3 and finishing the final 4. I ended up finishing 3rd in the drivers championship at @orlandokartcenter missing 2nd by 1 point. This past weekend I competed in the Canadian Engineering Competition in senior design against the top teams from all across Canada. This competition had us design, prototype, present, and test our solution to a problem that we were only introduced to on the same day and had 8 hours to complete. We were happy to place second and represent all of the hard-working, talented, and intelligent Engineering students from the University of Manitoba. Thank you to my amazing team mates! Also thank you to the volunteers and organizing committee! Congratulations to all of the other CEC 2020 winners as well. Details ----------- The objective was to harvest a field of crops remotely and sort the crops into different bins of good, medium, and bad based on their color and size. Ze SWG 2020 v Brně jsem si odvezl 2. místo z heavyweight kategorie nad 82kg. Akce byla opět pěkně zvládnuta díky @beatupgym , atmosféra postupně získávala na síle a i přes pár kapek deště to stálo za to. Ještě večer před soutěží jsem vůbec nevěděl, zda pojedu. Celý týden jsem se kurýroval z nachlazení, 10 dní jsem nedržel hrazdu a jediné, co jsem držel tak stravu, abych to udržel do těžší kategorie. Nakonec jsem si to užil, dorazil domů v půl 1 ráno s 10kg trofejí, která mi utrhla tašku :D Teď se trochu rozepíšu... Soutěžím ve street workout se věnuji od roku 2015, za tu dobu jsem se zúčastnil 25 soutěží (freestyle, sets and reps, weighted, king of muscle up) a 16x se mi povedlo umístit na bedně (7x🥇 4x🥈 5x🥉). Atlety, kteří soutěžili před 5 lety už pravděpodobně jako závodníky nepotkáte, zřejmě už jsem jediný (tak dlouho aktivní je už jen naše mistryně @szabooo.veronika 💪). Ono závodit ve 30 letech, kdy máte proti sobě o 10 a více let mladší borce není úplně ezy, ale snad já jako matador můžu předat nějakou motivaci. Trpělivost, dřina, píle, respekt a pokora - to je vše, co potřebujete k tomu, abyste něčeho dosáhli 🙏 Je správný čas, abych si odpočinul od všech soutěží a soustředil energii jiným směrem (také těm, kteří mě podporovali)...Nevím, na jak dlouho...Trénovat budu i nadále a předávat zkušenosti dál. Pro letošní rok bylo zlomové zranění a comeback byl těžký. Víc jak rok se tak nějak plácám v kolísavé úrovni své výkonnosti a nejsem s tím spokojený. Nechám si dost času na to, než bude můj výkon na požadované úrovni - potřebuji doladit spoustu prvků, jejich kvalitu a nová komba. Rád podpořím battly i jinak než jako soutěžící.
