I recently learned about Foucaults theory about discipline. One of the things he mentioned is one of the previously used prison systems. The prison was built around a watch tower so that every prisoner could be seen and behavior could be corrected almost directly by sending guarding officers to the misbehaving prisoner. Gradually the tower got some blinds so that the guardings officers had some privacy, they could be gone without the prisoners knowing. Prisoners would act accordingly because they didnt know when they were being watched and felt like this happened constantly. In this dreadful place the same system was applied, only not behaving accordingly usually ended with a bullet through the head. The prisoners here were useless, disposable and were not wanted within the new population since they werent fully human. This of course makes no sense at all, yet this did happen not too long ago. You’ve heard of Madison Square Garden I, II, III & IV? - how many know about the “jinxed” $132,000 Madison Square Garden Bowl (1932-1942) in Queens? Madison Square Garden Bowl was the name of an outdoor arena in the New York City borough of Queens. Built in 1932, the arena hosted circuses and boxing matches. Its seating capacity was 72,000 spectators on wood bleachers. The idea of the stadium came from boxing promotor Tex Rickard who died before it was completed. The Bowl, located at 48th Street and Northern Boulevard in Long Island City, was the site where James J. Braddock defeated Max Baer for the World Heavyweight title on June 13, 1935 -- a fight later dramatized in the film Cinderella Man. Braddocks first comeback fight against John Corn Griffin was also in the venue. Jack Sharkey and Primo Carnera also captured the heavyweight crown in the 1930s at the Bowl. But because no titleholder ever successfully defended his title there, the stadium was soon dubbed the Jinx Bowl. The Madison Square Garden Bowl was torn down during World War II to make way for a US Army Mail Depot (and also because arena management deemed it more economical to rent baseball stadiums for fights). Metal from the stadium was melted down to make bullets and other war materials, including those to build the Mail Depot. Incendiary bombs descend in a hail of fire and fury onto the city of Kobe, Japan from B-29 Superfortress bombers; 1945. This mission formed part of the strategic bombing campaign waged by the United States against military and civilian targets during the Japan home islands campaign in the closing stages of World War II. The sixth-largest city in Japan at the time, with a population of roughly 1 million it would be bombed once more a month later. The houses were mostly built with wood making them highly flammable. As Japans largest port, home to the largest concentration of shipbuilding and industry, and an important city for transportation Kobe was a high priority target. Its low water supply and poor firefighting equipment created quite literally a tinderbox for city wide destruction. Of the citys residents, 8,841 were confirmed to have been killed in the resulting firestorms, destroying 21% of Kobes urban area. More than 650,000 people had their homes destroyed. During the raid, 280 Japanese fighters were spotted, 96 of which engaged the B-29 bombers in 128 attacks; this constituted a higher proportion of fighters sighted to those attacking than previously experienced during a night raid over Japan. Three bombers were lost during the raid. Two of the airmen in the downed aircraft, Sergeant Algy S. Augunus and Second Lieutenant Robert E. Copeland, survived and were captured by the Japanese. Sloopbedrijven moeten er daarom omheen werken en uiteindelijk worden de huizen van de eigenwijze bewoners volledig omringd door parkeerplaatsen of wegen.⠀ ⠀ “Deze huizen spreken tot de Chinese verbeelding, omdat ze de strijd tussen David en Goliath vertegenwoordigen”, zegt Steve Hess, een universitair docent politieke wetenschappen aan de Transylvania University in de Amerikaanse staat Kentucky. Hij bestudeerde het fenomeen jarenlang en publiceerde in 2010 het artikel ‘Nail-Houses, Land Rights, and Frames of Injustice on Chinas Protest Landscape’.⠀ ⠀ “Deze huizen werden halverwege de jaren negentig voor het eerst echt een ding”, zegt hij via e-mail. “Toen werden door een hervorming in 1994 veel belastinginkomsten van de lokale naar de nationale overheid verschoven.”⠀ ⠀ Hess zegt dat de lokale autoriteiten vanaf dat moment te maken kregen met geldtekorten, omdat er zoveel geld werd doorgesluisd naar de centrale overheid. Воркута — удивительное место. Здесь ужасный климат, вот прямо сейчас температура около ноля, а по ощущениям все -10. Место точно не приспособлено для жизни людей. Воркута - самый быстро вымирающий городом России. В лучшие годы население города и прилегающих поселков достигало 200 000 человек. Сколько сегодня тут живет, никто точно не знает, официальная статистика сильно расходится с реальностью, потому что многие продолжают числиться, но давно уехали. В самом городе официально числится около 50 000. На главной улице красуется огромная красная надпись: Больше угля — Родине! Зачем Родине больше угля не сообщается. Из 13 шахт сейчас работает только 4, да и те вполсилы. Кажется, Родина давно забыла про эти места. В прошлом веке ради рекордов и лозунгов тут положили тысячи жизней, в основном заключенных. Хотим развеять некоторые преждевременные непроверенные версии относительно вчерашнего возгорания на нашем объекте. ⠀ Возгорание было точечным на внешней стороне технического этажа, длилось около 15 минут и локализовано силами нашей службы безопасности еще до приезда ГСЧС. Повреждений здания нет. ⠀ Теперь о подробностях. ⠀ Во-первых, считаем нужным опровергнуть информацию относительно возгорания утеплителя. В сториз на видео хорошо видно, что утеплитель является негорючим материалом. ⠀ Загорелся небольшой сегмент гидроизоляции, который находился на перекрытии, на внешней стороне здания. По технологическому процессу эта гидроизоляция покрывается бетонной стяжкой, после чего она становится полностью закрытой от внешних воздействий. Возгорание произошло на том участке, где строители еще не приступили к покрытию гидроизоляции. Среди возможных причин источника теплового воздействия рассматриваются окурок или искра. В Taryan Towers мы используем лучшие мировые практики. В нашем проекте предусмотрена система пожарной сигнализации и оповещения и управления эвакуацией и автоматика противопожарных систем, которые с запасом соответствуют гос. нормам и являются одними из самых передовых в нашей стране. ⠀ Согласно требованиям, в доме должно быть два специальных лифта транспортировки пожарных подразделений (ЛТПП), у нас их три в каждой секции и два дополнительных, с помощью которых спасатели могут оперативно попасть на любой этаж. В каждой секции две незадымляемые лестницы, которые на протяжении длительного периода не пропускают огонь и дым, таким образом позволяют безопасно покинуть здание. Также у нас предусмотрена спринклерная система пожаротушения во всех зонах общего пользования. На каждом этаже предусмотрены средства индивидуальной защиты и пожарные гидранты, а также сигнализация и система мгновенного оповещения. ⠀ Кто-то ищет сенсацию, но ничего страшного не произошло. Quite remarkable!!! Our client, @mlupick, brought in a Kodak Brownie 620 which her grandmother gave her dad in 1959. As a young lad in Terrace BC he shot one roll of Kodak BW film in it, left the film in the camera and never used it again. Here we are 60 years later and hoping to develop the film to see what comes of it. YES, Success!!! The film was a bit thin from all the years of latent image aging but with some push processing and a touch of photoshop we managed to get quite remarkable images out of it. Mallory, Dad and grandma were surprised and thrilled to see the results. ⚠️ Achtung ⚠️Lesen und Teilen bitte. Ganz klar sollte er bleiben und es sagen ja viele Leute die da gearbeitet haben aber auch Bürger die damit nix zutun haben. Ich verstehe es nicht die Gemeinde Schipkau und die Stadt Großräschen und die Stadt Senftenberg könnten Geld beantragen und ihn somit retten. Wozu ist denn sonst ein Denkmal da? Klar um zu Erinnern auch für spätere Generationen. Und es ist eigentlich schon bissel Traurig aus meiner sicht das er erst geholt wurde und dann dahin gestellt wird und nix passiert man hätte doch eigentlich die ganzen Jahre was machen könne oder jemanden suchen können wie ein Investor oder Käufer der was drauß macht. Und so wie der Plan war ihn auseinander zu nehmen und bissel was zu erhalten ist auch nicht richtig. Denkmal ist Denkmal und er ist ein Denkmal und nicht eine Tafel oder eine Schaufel. Man merkt ja das sich Wiederstand bildet warum geht man nicht drauf ein und versucht jemanden zu finden. Wenn wirklich mal der Ausstieg dann kommt und alle verschwinde ( Aktiven Bagger) Kann man doch als Kommune froh sein sowas zu erhalten.
