Its quite amusing how at a moment we think the people around us that provide us with temporary happiness would be there, in all of our joyous and saddened moments. It is human nature to be attracted to someone who provides us with splendid moments of joys no matter how trivial or how important they may be. We feel a bond tightening whenever we laugh with them, listen to their stories. It wouldnt be unusual to say we live with them. We make moments with them which then, when theyre eventually not with us, turn to memories. Looking at the past we get this nostalgic feeling how much you adored a person, how much effort you put into an abstract bond that could only be felt. And at times you even feel silly for trying so hard to remain with the person that was the evident cause of happiness in your life. The strange realization that settles within you when that person leaves you is that no matter how hard you wouldve tried, you wouldnt have been as important to them as they were to you. Because for them the evident cause of happiness in their life wouldve been through someone else. And that fact breaks you down and churns up your insides making you face the heaviness of the reality. Despite the slight embarrassment of bringing a fully rigged MONSTRO to a 2 year old’s birthday party - I couldn’t be happier with the results. I built CDL adjustments that carried right over to post - I’ve never had it be so easy to get a camera to look exactly how I want right when it hits my timeline. This was an 8K project that I finished in under an hour on a laptop. Also the ability to grab 35MP stills at 60fps is a game changer for me - see images after the video. For generations the East End has been a place where artists have gathered, drawn by the light, the connections among many creative friends and neighbors, and the effortless intersection of art and nature, the outdoors and interior spaces. The area has also offered artists the ability to design living and studio spaces in close proximity; for some, the distance between domestic and creative spheres is fluid and permeable. For the artist Robert Dash (1934–2013), the house and studio were at the heart of his life and practice—gathering places for friends and family and ample artistic inspiration. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ For nearly fifty years Dash painted, gardened, and wrote at Madoo (an old Scots word for “my dove”), a cluster of gray-shingled eighteenth-century buildings near the ocean in Sagaponack. He moved easily among the various barns and outbuildings to create winter and summer studios with adjacent living quarters. In Dash’s painting “John Ashbery” (1975), the poet sits at the dining table in Dash’s summer studio, attentively reading. “He had a very strict regimen,” recalls Robert Storr, a friend of Dash’s since the early 1980s and the former dean of Yale University’s School of Art. “He did most of his painting during the winter.
