Минувшая суббота запомнится мне надолго - 28-30.08.2020 проходил 20й Кубок братьев Агеевых и Олимпийских чемпионов Ю.Постригай и А.Дьяченко @aaacup.ru Я долго не могла решиться подать заявку, но ребята из команды @gosup.moscow меня поддержали, и я это сделала! Мои первые соревнования такого уровня, первый опыт старта с ловушек и гребли по дорожкам. Предстартовый мандраж начался еще в пятницу, а к субботе достиг своего апогея - я не могла усидеть на одном месте и 10 минут, но как только я зашла на территорию гребного канала, меня начало отпускать. Хочется сказать спасибо Саше @aleksandra_8_8_8_ за то, что слушала мои стенания, а Оле @merkulova_ola за поддержку и наставления😎 Мой результат на 200м - 1️⃣:2️⃣2️⃣,9️⃣4️⃣2️⃣ Я пришла 4 из 6 в своём заезде и в финал не попала, но совершенно не расстроилась! Мое время 10 из 18 участниц (финальный заезд не учитывала). Год назад я была в Москве и смотрела на ребят, участников Кубка Росии и выложила сторис с подписью «надеюсь, однажды мы станем соперницами», и мы стали! The women pictured in yesterday’s trivia question were students in the cooking program at the David Hale Fanning Trade School. Originally known as the Worcester Girls Trade School, the school opened in 1911 at 2 State Street and offered classes in power machine operating, dressmaking, and millinery. At that time, many girls between the ages of 14 and 16 dropped out of school to join the workforce, only to see their opportunities curtailed by their lack of industrial skills. In the words of its second director, Helen Hildreth, the Trade School was intended to provide girls with technical training, thus securing “the proper status of woman in the working world.” When a fire destroyed the school building in 1919, the school relocated to 24 Chatham Street. David Hale Fanning, the founder of the Royal Worcester Corset Company, offered $100,000 for the new school building under the condition that it be renamed in his honor. Many additional training programs were added over the years, reflecting the expansion of women’s occupations. New programs in the 1920s included Cooking as a Trade, Cafeteria/Tea Room Service, Printing, and Scientific Care of Hair and Skin. In the 1960s, students could receive training as a Licensed Practical Nurse, Surgical Technician, and Dental Assistant. Information Processing courses were added in the 1980s. Not bad work from a guy who had only set the company up a few years’ prior as a one-man-band 💪🏼🔊 It was a BIG night and many big things happened after that. We also went on to deliver the Opening and Closing Ceremonies for Athens 2004, Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics, London 2012 and Rio 2016. Did you know that a lion once roamed the 4th floor of the library? In 1928, the @milwaukeepublicmuseum undertook the Cudahy-Massee Expedition to Africa to gather specimens for the museum’s collection. While there they adopted an orphan lion cub, named him Simba (aka “Sim”) and brought him back to Milwaukee when the expedition ended in 1929. Simba lived on the Library-Museum building’s roof for a time until he broke a tooth and was transferred to the Washington Park Zoo. Sim is pictured with travel lecturer and safari leader Carveth Wells wrestling for old-time sake on the roof on June 25, 1929. Simba is now part of the Savanna Bush African diorama on the Museum’s third floor, east wing. This years version looked very different due to COVID-19, complete with social distancing and the like. Normally the ride raises $1.2 million dollars every year for pediatric cancer research and sending kids with cancer to Camp Goodtimes. This year, the goal is $600,000. Yentle Tupker we gaan haar missen Intussen al weer 10 jaar geleden liep Yentle Tupker toen student Sport & Bewegen stage in ons centrum bij de jeugdsquash. Onze insteek bij stagiairs is altijd dat we na het behalen van de stage, diegene indien er een mogelijkheid is een baan aan te bieden bij ons centrum. Haar talenten op allerlei gebieden waren al snel ontdekt. In februari 2013 versterkte zij ons horeca team, waarbij Yentle na het behalen van haar Squashtrainers diploma ( juni 2013) al vrij snel onze squashjeugd les is gaan geven. Tevens is op initiatief van Yentle en Dagmar de kidsinstuif op de zondagochtend ontstaan voor kinderen vanaf 4 jaar, wat Yentle enkele jaren met zeer veel plezier heeft gedaan. Dat Yentle goed met kinderen om kan ontgaat niemand, dit blijkt uit de vele succesvolle kinderfeestje, jeugdkampen en lesgeven aan scholen bij ons in het centrum combinatie met haar baan op een BSO Na ruim 7 ½ jaar in dienst te zijn bij Squash Zwolle heeft Yentle de baan gekregen waar ze altijd al van gedroomd heeft, namelijk werken bij Sportservice Zwolle in combinatie met sport BSO. We zullen haar als medewerker, collega erg gaan missen, maar van haar squashtalenten hopen wij nog lang te mogen genieten en dat onderstaand rijtje nog verder uitgebreid mag worden. Jalan takdir kita tidak pernah tahu. Orang tua hanya bisa mengawal mimpi anak-anaknya, sambil mendoakan semoga kelak mereka menemukan ruang kebermanfaatan yang mereka cintai. Semangat pangeran mama . Loving seeing everyone’s memories of #mysydney2000 .... yesterday was 20 years ago that I brought the Olympic flame into Bondi Beach as part of the Torch relay - the day before the opening Ceremony for the Sydney Games. I was 14 years old and I had one of the most visible legs of the relay in a city full of Olympic fever. There were thousands of people lined on the cliffs watching the flame come in, not to mention the air and sea escort we had of people trying to get close to it. I had never seen anything like it and I had no clue what I was actually doing until I saw the crowds. I passed the torch around when we got to North Bondi so we could all take it in. And of course, we decided we should catch a wave, much to the horror of all the helicopters covering it for tv. These boats are a quarter of a tonne and we needed to wait for one big enough, plus we knew we only had one chance. After waiting for a while we chose one - when it was apparent we were going to catch it the crew started yelling at me. Stand up!! Get up!! Which resulted in the photo here that went a little bit around the world. I hit the beach and the crowd went nuts, broke the barricade and rushed me, resulting in my assigned security team having to come in to get me and drag me through it. To this day probably the most surreal experience of my life. And I still have the torch.
