I almost didnt end up getting Gracie (my new puppy).... I had been talking about getting a dog for years. I thought about it (more like OVERthought about it) for so long. I thought of every excuse as to why now wasnt the right time... I didnt want to give up my freedom I was worried about taking care of it all by myself I wasnt sure I could do it financially All of those excuses were based around fear of the unknown. Around change. Finally, a few months ago... I decided it was time. I did some research, found a breed I liked and reached out to breeders. I know that there has been a real feeling of loneliness, isolation and disconnection for many as a result of all of the things that have been going on in the world literally and energetically as of late. It can be tempting to put nurturing ourselves and spirits last at times like these. It can feel hopeless or selfish, but we must. A practice that I find helpful is called “Good Morning, I love you”. So basically, every morning upon waking I put my hand on my heart, feel into the connection and greet myself with “Good morning. I love you Bianca.” And then I sometimes send that gesture of love out to anyone that comes into my mind that morning as well. We don’t have to wait for someone else to say ‘I love you’. And about 100 other lessons. lol. For real. 1. Every task you do, every aspect of what you’re building, must be thought about so you can eventually delegate it. Not all of it, but nearly most of it. If you’re stuck “in” the business, then you catch more glass ceilings. 2. Mundane work also equals “details”. The details matter. You have to learn as much as possible and then you have to expand your approach into leveraging technology and systems to scale your efforts. 3. Too many people want to hire and source others right out at the gate. I believe you have to know what you’re hiring and sourcing for based on what you’ve already understood. People can’t take as much advantage of you when you know what you want, how you want it and what to look for. 4. I believe your art and passions are how you express your soul to the world, but you must also be willing to manage it financially and professionally so it can a.) become its greatest self, and b.) so it’s not taken away by someone else. 5. Vertically integrate. Owning different parts of the “supply”, “production” or “marketing” chain not only allows you to handle more of your tasks internally, and at better cost, but they can be licensed and leveraged externally to others. More on this later. 6. Be the person you’d want to learn from so you can help others grow just the same. I treat my people with honesty, integrity, transparency, directness, love and kindness. I want to help them drive their lane 150mph. 7. Skills may get you in the game, but having a high level of emotional intelligence and self awareness will help you navigate people, uncertainty, risk and reward much more efficiently and for the long game. It can come at you in different ways, but the underlying mechanism is the same. Such a powerful statement right now. As adults we often believe we know what’s going on and hold true to our convictions even when presented with new information. As people we need to continue to grow and become better and that requires an open heart and mind ♥️ ⠀ •⠀ Lately I have been feeling similar to 3 years ago, after the Me Too Movement, when I wanted to stay on top of information, but also didn’t want to be flooded with incorrect or negative articles about the movement. Lately I have really looked at who I am following and have come to appreciated the new women that are my daily social news. They provide inspiration through their craft, relevant information, create content which is a great distraction and they foster these incredible communities that I am proud to be apart of 😌 ⠀ •⠀ If you feel like your life has just gone back to normal, it’s time to look at what info you are getting and who you are bringing into your life. This week is #BalanceAwarenessWeek and it’s really important to me as I’ve been helping to plan the first ever Vestibular Conference for @vestibularveda. Today’s topic was all about Navigating the Health System and was great presentation on how to get an accurate diagnosis with Dr. Kim Bell and and an open discussion with patients @true_kaylaisms and David Morrill. . I love that we kicked off with this topic as it is so important and the words “misdiagnosed” and “misinformed” came up often. There’s nothing quite like seeing a “D’s Best” ENT and having him tell you that your episodes of vertigo and feeling like you’re moving when standing still is normal (it’s not) and that it would go away with time (it didn’t) before finally admitting he didn’t have a clue. I saw some of the best neurologists in Dallas that never once mentioned migraine to me, instead almost blaming my symptoms on me, saying they were anxiety or depression induced (they weren’t). They completely overlooked key symptoms and history, unaware that migraine attacks don’t always include head pain. No one should ever have to deal with constant, terrifying symptoms while doctors just look at you like 🤷🏼♀️👍. .
