Hoje (ontem, no caso; 13/09) ele estaria completando 75 anos. Se foi muito novo, aos 68. Perdemos o contato diário quando eu tinha apenas 3 anos. Como qualquer filho de pais separados nos anos 70, nossa relação seguiu pelos encontros aos finais de semana. Era pouco, mas tinha amor. Assim eu cresci. No final dos anos 80, foi morar em Gramado. A distância física aumentou. Mas nunca deixávamos de conversar e de nos encontrar. E seguimos nos amando. Do nosso jeito. Era festeiro. Sempre rodeado de amigos e amigas. Fiz muita festa com ele. Sério. É legal sair pra noite com o próprio pai! Em 1995 aumentou ainda mais a distância física. Foi morar na América Central, em Honduras. Ficou 16 anos lá. Nunca nos vimos nesse período. Apenas telefonemas, algumas cartas escritas a mão, outras por fax. Depois o email, MSN... Era tudo distante, mas nunca faltou o principal: amor. Em 2011, veio “passar uns dias aqui porque estava com saudade de todos”. Foi incrível. Bebemos chopps cremosos, fiz churrasco pra ele. Vimos o Inter ganhar a Recopa. Comemorou seu último aniversário em vida ao lado de muita gente que amava ele. Nessa visita, descobri seu câncer na laringe. Tentei, de todas as formas, convence-lo a ficar aqui. Não quis. Preferiu voltar para Honduras. O lugar que ele escolheu morar. Em maio de 2012 sucumbiu a doença. E, assim, os contatos que sempre foram mantidos de uma forma ou outra, encerraram-se. O buraco que eu tenho em algum lugar indefinido dentro de mim seguirá. Talvez eu nunca consiga encontra-lo, tapa-lo. Talvez eu nem queira. Porque isso me fez crescer. Se hoje eu não tenho mais meu pai, eu me tornei um pai. E vou fazer sempre o possível e o impossível para que a minha filha não tenha esse vazio dentro dela. A ausência dele poderia ser motivo de muitos problemas pra mim, mas eu decidi encarar isso de outra forma. Sigo amando ele, porque aprendi coisas essenciais pra minha vida justamente nas dificuldades que enfrentei por não te-lo por perto, em momentos que só um pai pode dar o que um filho precisa. Thank you everyone who came out to support me this last Saturday night. This was one of the most fun, yet challenging fights Ive had to date. First and foremost, thank you to Jenny for coming all the way from Tennessee to give me the chance to compete in front of my hometown. Jenny is one of my favorite opponents to date. First of all I want to say alhamdoulilah for my health and that nothing has happened to me. I won my fight yesterday by unanimous decision in a sold-out arena with more than 31,000 people and showed live in 180 countries. It was a historic day and all the fans were amazing but especially the Moroccan army. Tak się kończy ta historia w której na początku Hassan miał mi dać lekcję pokory, po pierwszej porażce stwierdził na instagramie że był chory. Potem ja miałem kontuzję i nie trenowałem oraz melanżowałem przez ponad pół roku w tym czasie on ciężko trenował. Gdy wygrał z 6kg lżejszy Olehem jego ego wywindowało w górę. Ja po długiej przerwie wróciłem na mata i ciężko trenował by raz na zawsze rozstrzygnąć kto jest lepszy. Liczyłem na to, że jak z nim drugi raz wygram to mega spokornieje, taktycznie trochę spokorniał po hejcie w jego stronę. Ale po drugiej porażce znów się usprawiedliwia, tym razem wagą. Dałem mu dwie lekcje pokory ale czasem nawet dobry nauczyciel nie pomoże. Wenn man die vergangen Jahre revue passieren lässt, waren es für mich die erfolgreichsten Jahre beim HC Elbflorenz Dresden. Nach dem Aufstieg aus der Verbandsliga Ost in die Sachsenliga, schnuppern wir dort ein Jahr rein und holten im darauf folgenden Jahr die Meisterschaft und den Pokalsieg. Danach ging es nach Hamburg zum DHB Amateurpokal. In der Mitteldeutschen Oberliga sah es genau so aus. Ein Jahr schnuppern im nächsten Jahr Meisterschaft. Da ist sie nun die Meisterschale. Nun spielen wir noch Relegation um den Aufstieg in die 3. Liga. Unheimlich stolz auf das Team bzw. die Teams der letztens Jahre. I wont ever forget reading the MRI results with @emily.schaefer2 in Gold Coast, Australia. Emily, who was in a sling herself, wheeled me to the medical clinic. I knew I tore my ACL but nothing could have prepared me for what I was about to read. I read it once then twice and by the third time, Emily ripped the paper out of my hand and tucked it in the back of the wheelchair. We both realized that I had torn absolutely everything surrounding my knee. The flight home from Australia was just my luck 😪 A middle seat in the very back of the plane. I thank God that I had Emily and Julie there because I dont think I could have managed layovers and manouvering through the travel day alone. It took a month for the swelling to go down before I could actually get the multi ligament surgery that I needed. I lived in physio. 7 months had passed by and I knew something was wrong. I couldnt ride a bike or walk more than 10 minutes without having major swelling down to my toes. I was beyond frustrated and missed every single goal I set for myself. I had never failed so many times in my life. I got to the point where I was so down and knew I was not on target for Trials. I got to the point where I just wanted to be able to go for a walk without pain. I got to the point where when people commented about my weight, I so badly wanted to tell them to leave me alone. I was already down and didnt need a reminder. Clearly, I was not good. But I didnt share much with anyone. I felt very alone. By the end of February, I would have my second surgery. It took about two weeks post surgery to notice a significant improvement. A bit of hope started to come back when I went for my first 20 minute walk in April. By July, I was able to do technique 2-3 times a week. I would learn that I couldnt push too hard if I wanted to steadily progress. By October, I was on the mats full time. I had to trust that my 8 week prep was enough. It took a village to get me on the mats for Trials. I went from dreaming of being pain free to dreaming of Tokyo again. Thank you for being the light in my life during 2 very challenging years. I couldnt dream of a better team of people ❤ - @michellefazzari on Instagram

Over the weekend we held a ‘Safety in Youth MuayThai’ workshop at Bangkok’s Khongsitta gym on Saturday, September 26. The Safety in Youth MuayThai program was set up to offer young practitioners of the sport of MuayThai an opportunity of understanding the serious risks involved when not using protective training gear, such as a head guard, elbow pads and shin pads, all designed to minimize trauma to the human body when participating in MuayThai. The clinic was graciously hosted by Matthew Deane, who is also our ambassador. In attendance were a host of the most talented apprentices of the sport in the Kingdom of Thailand, including ViVi MuayDed789, Nongkampan, brothers Petchtoe and Petchaek and more. Moreover, the special guest for the day’s proceedings was current WBC MuayThai super-welterweight world champion, Yodwicha Yodwicha gym. Our dear champion taught a seminar on techniques and supervised a controlled sparring session between the bright young stars of the sport. The keynote speaker for the event was Assistant Professor Dr. Sitha Phongphibool, the head of the WBC MuayThai Medical Advisory Board. Dr. Sitha gave an in-depth, knowledgeable talk on the risks of not wearing protective equipment when competing in combat sports at a very young age. He also emphasized the importance of wearing protective gear when sparring in gyms. We all had a great time. The overall message from the workshop is one of conscious awareness to the risks involved for the youth in our sport. We are not forcing change.
