Mark 11:24 🔸 I want to thank everyone for their prayers, uplifting thoughts, and positive vibes. I believe in the power of positivity. And, even though it has been difficult to stay positive over the last two months, the faithfulness and positivity of those around me, especially Mandi Byford, has given me a guardrail of faith so that I didnt swerve of the road towards the ditch of depression. All of your comments and messages have really helped to fortify me and my faith. 🔸 The good news is that I am having my thyroid removed next Thursday to remove the cancer (we named him Nigel the nodule) from my body. The surgeon will also remove some lymph nodes to biopsy. If the biopsy comes back clean, I will be cancer free! (if not, Ill have to do some radiation treatment.) I have faith that, either way, itll just be the next step in the process of healing. 🔸 For almost two months, Ive spent the majority of my time in bed or on the couch. I have been getting exhausted from just walking my dogs down the street. Not being able to move my body and get out of my head has been a real challenge. But dealing with those challenges and going through this process is giving me access to so much insight. I know that Ill be able to use my experiences, challenges, and triumphs to serve others in an even bigger way! I am hoping to be 100% and back to teaching, practicing, and living all out Byford-style by October! В начале учебного года 19 начинающих педагогов начали работу в школах и детских садах городского округа. С началом профессиональной карьеры поздравила молодых коллег  начальник управления образования Находкинского городского округа Евгения Мухамадиева: - В жизни каждого из нас есть свой Учитель - человек, на которого мы равнялись и хотели быть похожими, выбирая эту непростую профессию. Я желаю вам также достойно построить свою трудовую биографию и тоже стать образцом для подражания, верными помощниками и настоящими старшими товарищами своим ученикам. ⠀ 🔹Напутственные слова учителям и воспитателям произнесли директор ИМЦ Развитие Людмила Путинцева, директор школы № 5 Татьяна Панова, заведующая детским садом № 58 Тамара Соколова и другие. Наставники акцентировали внимание молодёжи на том, что быть педагогом – благородное, но трудное дело, и пожелали, чтобы молодые не разочаровались в выбранной ими профессии, а дети никогда не разочаровались в них. ⠀ 🔹Среди молодых специалистов, приступивших к работе – воспитатели, учителя начальных классов, географии, истории, английского языка, физкультуры и тьютор для работы в ресурсном классе с детьми, имеющими особенности развития. Виновники торжества произнесли импровизированную клятву верности своему делу,  пообещали оставлять за дверью образовательного учреждения плохое настроение, быть активными и креативными, развивать свои таланты, повышать квалификацию. Торжественная часть продолжилась шуточными испытаниями на внимательность, умение общаться с коллегами, работать в команде. Свои представления о работе с детьми, ожидания от профессии молодые специалисты представили в видеоролике. Extremely grateful and humbled at this moment. On September 10th 2020 the Access Fund Board of Directors unanimously approved my nomination to the Board for a three-year term. The Access Fund is such an integral part of the climbing community. Without them many of the places we love and enjoy would have been lost years ago. Since being founded in 1991 the Access Fund represents millions of climbers nationwide. They have six core programs: Climbing policy and advocacy, Stewardship and conservation, Local support and mobilization, Land acquisition and protection, Risk management and landowner support and Education. • All of these are incredibly important for our sport to grow constructively without damaging the lands that we utilize. I’m so proud to have a seat at this table and giving a voice to the strong climbing community in Florida. Our voice down here is sometimes forgotten. Many people don’t even know how devoted to the sport the climbers in Florida can be. I hope to change that over the next three years. We are a fiery, passionate and colorful bunch so I have a big responsibility in representing all of that. Excited to start this journey and cannot wait to see what develops and grows along the way. I’m officially certified in @davinci_teethwhitening! Yesterday was my only day off and we spent from sunrise to way past sunset painting and doing the floors in the new location. I came back at 7a today to add extra touches and then quickly headed to my training at 830a for the teeth whitening. Today I’m at work until 8p. I’m tired, I’m exhausted & the work is never done but I am so thankful for the people around me who constantly remind me that I’m a super hero. Eight years ago I had the honor to be a part of the first regional theatre company to produce The Scottsboro Boys post our Broadway run. Despite the grief of my grandfather passing the day before tech, I journeyed on with the beautiful men and woman of our company and we shared the story to the good people of Philly. We were sold out and broke box office records in our run. It was an absolute joy to feel the love and understanding the audience had for the story we had the opportunity to share. They got it. And it warms my heart that many theatres got it too. Grateful to everyone on that journey from Off-Broadway, The Guthrie, Broadway and Philly. After my time with this remarkable show I moved to Portland, OR and began a new journey of love, spirituality and healing. The barbershop is a community hub. Being a barber, you may be the first point of contact with someone that may or may not recognize that they are going through acute psychological distress, especially during this pandemic. Now more than ever, we need to take time to recognize that others may be experiencing this crisis differently, and may benefit from added support. We say that what we do is therapeutic because it can be, but it’s not therapy. Neither is psychological first aid, but it is a tool to help listen and support those that need it, that come into the shop. If you’re a barber (but this can be for everyone) I recommend taking this course by John Hopkins University vía Coursera. We may not be barber surgeons anymore, but I think it’s time we take it a step up and focus on mental health for ourselves and our clients. Nearly 8 years ago today, I completed SMDEP Yale, one of the best summers of my life. Prior to applying, I GAVE UP on becoming a doctor. I thought that being a pre-med was too tough, and that I’d never survive. As I was walking to the advisor’s office to change my career path, a friend stopped me, and asked if I had heard for SMDEP..she simply asked, “what do you have to lose?” So I scrambled to apply 1 week before apps were due. I didn’t think I’d have a shot for ANY summer med program at the time. The night that acceptance/rejection emails went out, I saw I was rejected to 2 of the 3 sites I had applied to..nearly defeated, I scrolled down just a bit more, and saw that Yale accepted me! They gave me the opportunity to thrive. They showed me that I COULD become a doctor. They saved me from changing my entire career path altogether. 8 years later, and I’m living my DREAM. Don’t give up. Ask for help if you’re struggling. Switch up your study techniques if something isn’t working right. Reach out to those around your for guidance and mentorship. Try your best not to give into imposter syndrome, because you REALLY ARE where you’re supposed to be!
