I just wanted to give you a quick update on the urgent legislation we are trying to pass tonight. The Upper House is still going through this important legislation line by line. There is no doubting just how important this legislation is to our State. It is unprecedented, but its in the best interests of all Western Australians. Clive Palmer is pulling out all stops to try and block us from protecting Western Australia. But we wont give in. Thats why passing this legislation tonight is so crucial. My colleagues in the Upper House are now managing the Bill and I thank them for all their work and commitment to WA. While theyre doing that, my Lower House team is sticking around, just in case there are any amendments we need to deal with from the Upper House. One year down as being an attending! ⠀ For those of us choosing a career in medicine, it often seems that we are in a never ending pursuit of the next thing. “Just gotta get that (SAT/ MCAT/ USMLE) score then I’ll be SET!” “Just x number of years in residency then I will be golden!” “Only need another year of fellowship and then I’ll be really free!” ⠀ Then when you are finally done, you find yourself in the predicament I was in last year. It’s your first day as an attending, after years of build up, now what? ⠀ Naturally I picked some arbitrary goals: ⠀ 🔲 see 5000 patients 🔲 perform 250 surgeries 🔲 meet 50 referral sources 🔲 publish at least 5 articles ⠀ I had all these plans made, and was well on my way to achieving my goals when COVID-19 struck and brought things to a screeching halt. I couldn’t believe everything I was working towards was upended. I spent days being unproductive thinking about how to control something that was completely out of my hands. As I watched my wife @emandthepen go to work in the ER on the front lines, while I stayed at home doing Telehealth, I couldn’t stop feeling helpless. ⠀ After spending way too much time feeling sorry for myself, it became apparent that these benchmarks, were making me unhappy. Why did it matter so much? I have achieved a lot in my life to be proud of. I realized that for the first time in a long time, no one was grading me. ⠀ This revelation has really made these last few weeks as I returned to the office and OR extra special. I realized that I am so fortunate to be a physician - ENT - Rhinologist and it just makes me really happy to just do my job everyday. गिलोय एक ही ऐसी बेल है, जिसे आप सौ मर्ज की एक दवा कह सकते हैं। इसलिए इसे संस्कृत में अमृता नाम दिया गया है। कहते हैं कि देवताओं और दानवों के बीच समुद्र मंथन के दौरान जब अमृत निकला और इस अमृत की बूंदें जहां-जहां छलकीं, वहां-वहां गिलोय की उत्पत्ति हुई। इसका वानस्पिक नाम( Botanical name) टीनोस्पोरा कॉर्डीफोलिया (tinospora cordifolia है। इसके पत्ते पान के पत्ते जैसे दिखाई देते हैं और जिस पौधे पर यह चढ़ जाती है, उसे मरने नहीं देती। इसके बहुत सारे लाभ आयुर्वेद में बताए गए हैं, जो न केवल आपको सेहतमंद रखते हैं, बल्कि आपकी सुंदरता को भी निखारते हैं। आइए जानते हैं गिलोय के फायदे… गिलोय बढ़ाती है रोग प्रतिरोधक क्षमता गिलोय एक ऐसी बेल है, जो व्यक्ति की रोग प्रतिरोधक क्षमता को बढ़ा कर उसे बीमारियों से दूर रखती है। इसमें भरपूर मात्रा में एंटीऑक्सीडेंट्स होते हैं, जो शरीर में से विषैले पदार्थों को बाहर निकालने का काम करते हैं। यह खून को साफ करती है, बैक्टीरिया से लड़ती है। लिवर और किडनी की अच्छी देखभाल भी गिलोय के बहुत सारे कामों में से एक है। ये दोनों ही अंग खून को साफ करने का काम करते हैं। ठीक करती है बुखार अगर किसी को बार-बार बुखार आता है तो उसे गिलोय का सेवन करना चाहिए। गिलोय हर तरह के बुखार से लडऩे में मदद करती है। इसलिए डेंगू के मरीजों को भी गिलोय के सेवन की सलाह दी जाती है। डेंगू के अलावा मलेरिया, स्वाइन फ्लू में आने वाले बुखार से भी गिलोय छुटकारा दिलाती है। गिलोय के फायदे – मधुमेह के रोगियों के लिए गिलोय एक हाइपोग्लाइसेमिक एजेंट है यानी यह खून में शर्करा की मात्रा को कम करती है। इसलिए इसके सेवन से खून में शर्करा की मात्रा कम हो जाती है, जिसका फायदा टाइप टू डायबिटीज के मरीजों को होता है। पाचन शक्ति बढ़ाती है यह बेल पाचन तंत्र के सारे कामों को भली-भांति संचालित करती है और भोजन के पचने की प्रक्रिया में मदद कती है। इससे व्यक्ति कब्ज और पेट की दूसरी गड़बडिय़ों से बचा रहता है। कम करती है स्ट्रेस गलाकाट प्रतिस्पर्धा के इस दौर में तनाव या स्ट्रेस एक बड़ी समस्या बन चुका है। गिलोय एडप्टोजन की तरह काम करती है और मानसिक तनाव और चिंता (एंजायटी) के स्तर को कम करती है। इसकी मदद से न केवल याददाश्त बेहतर होती है बल्कि मस्तिष्क की कार्यप्रणाली भी दुरूस्त रहती है और एकाग्रता बढ़ती है। बढ़ाती है आंखों की रोशनी गिलोय को पलकों के ऊपर लगाने पर आंखों की रोशनी बढ़ती है। इसके लिए आपको गिलोय पाउडर को पानी में गर्म करना होगा। जब पानी अच्छी तरह से ठंडा हो जाए तो इसे पलकों के ऊपर लगाएं। - @drnitishdubey on Instagram

Innan det har jag sedan Inga-Lisa var bebis drivit kontot @minimat.se där jag delat med mig av barnmatsinspiration och allmänt föräldraliv 😅🥳✨ ⁣ ⁣ Till vardags jobbar jag som marknadsansvarig och det är fantastiskt! 🙏🏼⁣ ⁣ 5 snabba om mig:⁣ ⁣ 1️⃣ Uppvuxen ute på vischan i Dalsland, flyttade hemifrån strax före jag fyllde 16 så snart har jag bott lika länge på andra ställen som där jag växte upp! ⁣ ⁣ 2️⃣ Jag älskar också bubbel precis som Viktoria och det kanske är därför namnet Bröllopsbubbel blev så självklart för oss ⁣🥂✨ ⁣ 3️⃣ Mellan våra två barn fick vi en liten bebis med ett så allvarligt hjärtfel att vi tyvärr var tvungna att avbryta den graviditeten efter rutinultraljudet i vecka 20. Det har gjort mig väldigt tacksam men också ödmjuk inför hur det är ”skaffa barn”(ett uttryck jag inte gillar), så många av oss delar brokiga resor på vägen dit. 💔⁣ ⁣ 4️⃣ Har jobbat flera år som projektledare och har enligt mig själv rätt bra minne och känsla för strategi och struktur…., korttidsminnet däremot är fruktansvärt och så fort jag skall använda min telefon måste jag alltid(!) leta upp den först.. lokalsinnet ska vi inte ens prata om min bästis @julias.foto sa en gång att det var ungefär lika bra som en brödrost 🙈😅⁣ ⁣ 5️⃣ Jag älskar allt som kan ge livet lite extra känsla, blommor, fina gardiner, kramar, en ny klänning eller en liten post-it lapp på mjölkpaketet med en morgonhälsning på! ⁣ ⁣ Och det var lite om mig! There is something about pressing the submit button before sending research to a journal that always makes me anxious (even now as an attending!). What if the reviewers make me redo my experiments or revise my arguments? Even worse, what if they felt my idea and work was not worthy of publication? I know many pre-meds, med students, residents, fellows, and new faculty also share these fears as they develop their academic portfolio. I am thankful to have worked with great mentors and minds in Otolaryngology. I am fortunate to have amassed 50+ publications and 10+ book chapters, and now try my best to mentor others early in their careers to help realize their research goals. Here are some tips to getting started with research: 1. Find a mentor that has a track record for consistently publishing work (more than 5+ a year), and who welcomes those with varied degrees of research experience. Your institution should have a list of publications from their faculty, find labs/groups that show up repeatedly. 2. Once you get started, you’ll notice that your mentor may give you some direction, but that they won’t walk you through every step. In these situations find others who work with your mentor, offer to help them with small tasks so that they can help you as well. Not only will they make your contributions better, but you may get on other projects too! 3. Make sure you do a thorough background search and isolate the unique part of a research question. Don’t rely on your mentor to come up with all the ideas. You should be the one who knows the most about that specific topic and you should be able to articulate any changes you may have to make. 4. Do your best to write the entire manuscript and fill in the gaps before coming to your mentor for review. This will help you organize your thoughts and show that you are doing work. It will also let you address all your concerns at once. 5. Do not be afraid to submit your manuscript! One of my early mentors told me there is no shame in learning from reviewers. They are experts in your field and their comments can help make your paper stronger, even if you have to submit the work to a different journal. - @drqasimhusain on Instagram

SpaceX founder Elon Musk detailed progress on the company’s next-generation Starship program Monday, saying the huge rocket could “probably” attempt its first launch into Earth orbit next year, and adding that the Starship will fly hundreds of missions before SpaceX puts people on-board.    Tapping into an ever-growing production complex in South Texas, SpaceX is building new Starship prototypes at a rate of multiple vehicles per month. Some of the prototypes are strictly for ground testing, but SpaceX’s next Starship testbed, designed SN6, could attempt a 500-foot (150-meter) hop test later this week.    The most recent Starship test craft, named SN5, was the first Starship with full-size propellant tanks to make a successful launch and landing. During SN5’s brief up-and-down test Aug. 4, the prototype flew to an altitude of 500 feet powered by a single methane-fueled Raptor engine, then made a controlled descent to a nearby landing pad.    Speaking by phone Monday during the virtual Humans to Mars Summit, Musk is “making good progress” on the Starship program. Texas ECE recognizes Jarrad Cisco, BSEE 20. Jarrad focused on data science & information processing, and after graduation he will be pursuing a career in software engineering at Apple. During my time at UT, I bounced around a multitude of different career pathways, including medicine, management consulting, and biomedical engineering. In the ECE department, I found a diverse group of people unified by their passion for problem-solving, regardless of subject matter. Daniel A. Antiporta, MPH, MSc PhD Student, General Epidemiology and Methodology . As a nutritionist and epidemiologist trained in Peru, Daniel recognized the role of social drivers in people’s health during his early years working in remote areas of his home country. He is convinced that epidemiology ought to address fundamental causes of disease and bridge inequality gaps to leave no one behind. . He first came to Johns Hopkins to nurture his growing interest in methodology and social epidemiology. Through his MPH he witnessed the breadth and rigor of epidemiological research at Hopkins, which led him to come back and pursue a doctorate in epidemiology. His doctoral research aims to further the understanding of intergenerational effects of adolescent pregnancy, as well as the potential of social policies to improve their health outcomes. Daniel hopes his dissertation findings can enhance current policies for the benefit of vulnerable populations.
