Im heartbroken over the passing of director Joel Schumacher & wanted to tell you all what a wonderful man he was. I was fortunate enough to have worked with him on the films Falling Down & Flawless. After I auditioned for him for Falling Down, he hugged me. Then he said What an actress! He was so nice that I thought I’d done so poorly that he felt sorry for me. It was only when I got the part that I realized he was being sincere. How could someone be THAT kind, I wondered? Working with him on Falling Down was a dream. I was so young & working with such big names, but Joel made me feel like I belonged there. I couldnt believe my luck when he wanted to work with me again on Flawless. Even though my role was small, he invited me to be part of the private reading of the film he had with De Niro, Philip Seymour Hoffman and just 2 others and had me read several of the roles. Later, he invited me to a personal celebration of his along with Phil. I didnt know what I’d done to gain this kind of affection from him, but I felt a special bond with him that was hard to explain. In 2018, I reached out to him regarding a film I’m producing & he read it & gave me feedback. WHO DOES THAT? In an interview of his I saw last night, he said his success was made up of a series of people who had taken a chance on him. Well, dear Joel, thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking a chance on me. Im forever grateful to you and will never forget how good you were to me. After the past few weeks of looking back at my photographic history with @christiesinc, I thought it might be interesting to share the story about how I got into photography. I grew up in East Orange, NJ. When I was four years old, my parents divorced, and my father, Walter Iooss Sr., moved to the Flatbush section of Brooklyn. He was a musician and a jazz session player with a studio in Midtown. He was also a sports fan and a photography enthusiast. In 1959 he bought season tickets to see the @NYGiants, where he would take action pictures with his F4 Takumar 300mm lens and Asahi Pentax camera. That November, at the age of 15, I took my first shots through that lens. When I developed that first roll of Tri-X and held it to the light, my future was unlocked. I went back home and started shooting my friends playing stickball and football on the streets and eventually built a darkroom in my bedroom closet. One day in 1960, while we were at an N.Y. Titans game, my father spotted a red-headed teenager who was on the field with credentials taking pictures. My father ran down, called him over and told him that I, too, liked to take sports photos and asked how you get to be on the field. The kid told my father to have me meet him at the Time & Life building on 50th and 6th Avenue later that week. This kid turned out to be Neil Leifer, who would go on to be both a great friend, rival, and take some of the most iconic sports photos in history. Neil was 17 at the time, and I was 16. As arranged, we met, and he critiqued my portfolio. Neil and I were lucky to enter the game at the time that we did. We were some of the first photographers to shoot sports on 35mm. We would be running up and down the sidelines, pulling focus, past all the old disgruntled sports journalists with their Speed Graphic cameras. It was a different time, ripe for a change, and not a lot of red tape stopping us from doing what our eyes saw and hearts wanted. 6+ Years of Sobriety! August 30th, 2014 was the last time I had alcohol. Earlier in 2014, I stopped taking Adderall that I never had a prescription for. February 22nd, 2013 was the last day I used marijuana to get high. Later in 2013 I stopped injecting myself with Human Growth Hormone (HGH) & stopped taking Anavar—an oral steroid highly abused in the fitness industry. Again, neither of which I ever had a medical prescription. I took HGH & Anavar to get the body I always dreamed of. I used marijuana to feel like I was living the magical life I always wished for. I abused Adderall to give me the energy & productivity I thought I didn’t have & to manage my over-eating habits I thought I couldnt heal. I used alcohol to have fun & socially be the person I always wanted to be. It’s been a long road to recovery, yet here I AM! Sober & happier, healthier, wealthier, more energized, more successful, fitter, more magical, having more fun & having a super positive impact in the world! I’m so happy & grateful to finally acknowledge that the body I dreamed of, the magical life I wished for, the energy & success I sought, the healing of my relationship with my body & food as well as my ability to be a social powerhouse of massive fun & positive impact was always within just waiting for me to tap into! Without drugs, alcohol, or any other substance. And the truth is it’s the same for all of us. The power always lies within. What we dream of is always inside. Patiently waiting for our discovery, acknowledgment & utilization. No matter where we are on the journey of life, lets remember that the power lies within AND it’s okay to ask others for HELP to find our TRUE SELF & INNER POWER. He taught us how to fly. He led dead poets. He was the therapist we didn’t know we needed. He clowned around when we were down and was always there to patch things up. He made genies and magic feel real and he was probably our generations first exposure to cross dressing and lord was he fabulous. Every movie he starred in and every character he played during that golden age showed us how to show up fully, love passionately, to give second chances, to put family first and to fight to get through to people even when it seems like a lost cause. He was an brilliant actor and a hilarious comedian, but he was more than that. All he ever did was use his gifts to make the world a better place. Then a day came when the world was too much for him, and alone one cold morning he took his own life. Just like Anthony Bourdain, Chester Bennington, Avicii, and Chris Cornell, too many of the men who inspire us and light the way lose the will to live and struggle to find that light within themselves. In a world where it seems the very worst of men make decisions for the rest of us, I find myself increasingly focused on looking at human issues from the perspective of mental, emotional, and spiritual health. If even millionaires who have accomplished all of their dreams want to die, I can only imagine how many countless souls in the world are struggling to survive. There’s a quote I like that says ‘be kind for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle that you know nothing about’ but I would take it one step further. Love fearlessly and courageously cause nothing in this life is promised. In a world that obsesses over looks and status and self protection, and from a generation that says “do less” I would challenge us to practice radical love, radical compassion, and radical patience for those around us. It’s been said that the smallest amount of love could change someone’s day, and perhaps now we can take that a step further and recognize that any act of love in this day and age could literally save a life. Dear Midnight Circus Community - All the tickets at Welles Park have been claimed. Tickets went live at midnight and were all claimed by 12:03. We were as surprised as many of you that they went that quickly. We are sorry if you were unable to secure tickets. Bringing a free circus to families and communities across Chicago during these troubled times has been the most challenging thing our small arts organization has ever done. Ticket sales generally account for the majority of our operating income, and Midnight Circus, like many other arts organizations, is fighting for survival at this time. The financial support we received and the fundraising we have accomplished does not begin to cover the actual costs of the 2020 Tour. Our artists, crew and staff are donating much of their time and talent. It has always been our mission to bring a bit of joy, laughter and community building to families across Chicago. During these unprecedented times we did not waiver... we worked even harder to be true to that mission. We hope that those of you who are voicing frustration via email and online posts about not being able to secure tickets understand the situation. We would also like to remind you that we have two performances next week in beautiful Douglass Park on the west side of Chicago. If you have the opportunity to secure tickets for next week, and can visit a community outside of your own, we would strongly encourage it. We believe that in a city as segregated as Chicago, any opportunity we have to visit other neighborhoods and see the beauty and diversity of our city, the better we will all be. Also: best dad, stepdad, grandpa, uncle, husband, etc! He has a memoir coming out this year chronicling his 44 (!) years at the Washington Post, where he began his career as an intern in 1964, eventually rising to the paper’s top editorial job. Это или 26-27 лет, в активной фазе РПП, жуткие эмоциональные переживания , ОКР и полное отсутствие доверия вселенной. Ну.... а Потом я встретила этого Джеймса Бонда и моя жизнь наладилась)❤️💐👗👑 Шутка, все было не так) встретить-то я его встретила, и он правда показал мне другой уровень отношений и жизни, но вся вышеперечисленная история просто впала в ремиссию , чтобы потом бомбануть с новой силой спустя год. Так я поняла, что не может НИКОГДА другой человек вытащить тебя из депрессии. Можешь только ты ! И так как я «думатель», то на тот момент чисто интуитивно я поняла что работать мне нужно с моими мыслями, моим мышлением. И так как я всегда жила с установкой внутренней, что ко мне легко приходит информация которая мне нужна, именно в тот момент когда она мне нужна, в моей жизни появилась Леночка Блиновская. И, казалось бы, марафон-то был про желания, но он ПЕРЕКРОИЛ НАЧИСТУЮ мое мышление!!! И вот именно с тех пор, после Лены, я пошла в психотерапию и все-все подчистила. И именно она стала неким поворотным пунктом в моей жизни. К слову, Лена тоже МГ 3/5 и наш с ней квадрат пифагора вообще практически 1:1😳 Она лучше всех показала мне ИНОЙ путь, который я могу выбрать, чтобы потом быть примером других. Так что, если вы хотите убить двух Зайцев одновременно - научиться так сочинять мечты , чтобы они моментально сбывались и проработать вообще мышление - смело идите к Лене! 17 августа у неё стартует тот самый марафон желаний, который так сильно помог мне когда-то.
