The shoes made their way back to me and I made it home safely. Over the Labor Day holiday I went to the ER suffering from what would be diagnosed as gallstones. I was later admitted to the amazing #nyulangone to explore potential heart damage. Got every test in the book and all seems ok now. But yesterday I had my gallbladder removed laparoscopically. Pretty easy and recovering well. Thanks to the amazing doctors, surgeons and nurses who treated this scared lady with the greatest care and compassion. ————————————————————————MY ADVICE to all the lovely ladies in my life: Take a moment and google heart attack signs in women. They are very different than men and why I went to the ER. Most often signs of pain in the stomach present first. I went to the ER because I had read a piece about this. The perfect avocado does not exi......😍 Anyone who knows me well knows that this fried egg sandwich (with a twist) is my #1 go-to meal and something I eat literally almost every day 😂 Not only is it suuuper easy to put together, but it’s jam packed with nutrients! ⭐️ the avocado has loads of omega-3 fatty acids, a polyunsaturated fat typically only found in fish or seeds 🥑 ⭐️ the tomato and lettuce provide an abundance of important micronutrients including vitamin A, vitamin C, potassium and folate 🍅 🥬 ⭐️ the fried-egg (usually sunny-side up for that ooie, gooie yolk) is a great source of HDL or “good” cholesterol 🍳 + mayonnaise and mustard (lately I’ve been feeling Honey Dijon 😋) Instead of sandwiching the ingredients with my usual bread of choice, I’ve teamed up with @queenstreetbakery using their Chia Classic Loaf! We assembled and distributed 91 hygiene kits last weekend! If you donated to our gofundme (link in bio!), this is all because of you! ✨ We received a donation of 300 reusable tote bags (shoutout @saelachin 💖) which we filled with @drbronner soap & toothpaste, biodegradable bamboo toothbrushes, bamboo/cotton blend washcloths, @corawomen body wipes, shaving kits, nail clippers, lip balm, lotion, socks we bought from a local mom & pop, and @boxedwater 💞 It took us only 13 minutes to distribute 50 kits in skid row. It felt like a small drop in a vast ocean, but we left feeling so inspired by all the gratitude we received 🤎 We took the remaining 41 hygiene kits over to our friends at @echoparkriseup along with a grill + charcoal, kitchen supplies, water, and organic produce.
