Storia delle Orecchiette: Le origini sono da ricercarsi in Puglia e Basilicata, probabilmente nella zona barese, dove fin dal lontano Medioevo si produceva una pasta simile utilizzando il grano duro del Tavoliere. Si trattava di una pasta molto spessa e a forma di dischi, incavata al centro mediante la pressione del dito pollice: questa forma particolare ne facilitava lessiccazione, e quindi la conservazione per fronteggiare i periodi di carestia. Sembra anche che ne venissero imbarcate grandi quantità sulle navi che si accingevano ad affrontare lunghi viaggi. In seguito, a partire dallentroterra barese, sarebbero state diffuse in tutta la Basilicata e la Puglia con il loro nome attuale dagli Angioini, dinastia che nel Duecento dominava le terre di queste regioni. Secondo insigni studiosi di enogastronomia pugliese - ricordiamo qui solo il più autorevole - le orecchiette avrebbero avuto origine nel territorio di Sannicandro di Bari, durante la dominazione normanno-sveva, tra il XII e il XIII secolo[1]. È infatti possibile, in seguito allatteggiamento di protezione nei confronti della comunità israelitica locale da parte dei normanno-svevi, la loro derivazione da alcune ricette della tradizione ebraica, come le orecchie di Haman - lantagonista del libro di Esther - che ritroviamo, ad esempio, in alcuni dolci sefarditi oppure nelle croisettes, un tipo di pasta preparato nelle valli occitane del Piemonte, lontana parente delle orecchiette di Sannicandro anche nella probabile influenza mediorientale. - @orecchiettecimedirapa on Instagram

It was after my trip to Egypt that I started to inspire myself in hieroglyphics and I decided to start to see how color created contrast. Thanks to my trip was that I was able to do 2 art pieces using the Egyptian pallete of colors. These colors were the ones of my works for the next 5 years. In this piece of art, the contrast of color shows a feeling of shadow and light. Back in April my friend and colleague Fritz Horstman (@fritzhorstman) and I were meant to give a lecture in conjunction with the exhibition Anni Albers: In thread on on Paper at the New Britain Museum of American Art. Since that was clearly not happening we turned our efforts into a video to share with you all. ... Join us as we talk about the Connecticut days of Anni Albers.
