When we worked abroad in São Paulo as parents of three, locals would liken our close aged children to an “escadinha”, or little staircase. If only they could see us now. We have a full sized staircase. Ironically, we took this picture in front of a staircase. Also of note: our second youngest, Lois has been the most enthusiastic supporter of the new baby. ANNOUNCEMENT [⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀] We started this pizza thing a LONG time ago, circa 2010, in the farmlands of Wisconsin, and 2020 was supposed to be our 10 year celebration tour. In those years we’ve cooked in many oh so many rad places ... and we were able to do it with an oven in tow and 🍕 in our mouths. [⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀] From Zion to Sedona, Moab to ColoRADo to NM and all over AZ, we often drove through the night to sling doughp 🍕 at races and the biggest and raddest MTB and music festivals you could find (all to hear our favorite bands, or to celebrate bikes). [⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀] We built up a schedule over the years of our favorite events and crammed the calendar a good year + in advance. But, 2020 had far different plans and, like everyone else, life changed overnight … and the 🍕 biz screeched to a hard stop in early March, after our beloved Sedona MTB Festival [⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀] With no more events on the calendar – every event on our calendar canceled almost overnight and deposits we were given to hold a date for a private party to be refunded – a less “normal” life settled in. [⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀] Then in June we got hitched. We did it with bigger intentions and motives at heart, but it wasn’t the way or the celebration we wanted. [⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀] We’ve often talked about moving away to the mountains to chase/experience a different life, but we never made it happen. Hell, we designed and welded a mountain onto our tailgate ourselves, emblematic of what we’ve longed for. But, we never moved on that dream. It was a case of classic paralysis: All 🍕, no crust. [⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀] Long story short, we’re moving. Out of state and deep, deep into the mountains of CO. Who knows for how long. But for now. [⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀] ANNOUNCEMENT: [⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀] We are throwing one last pizza party. It’s also selfishly a celebration … for 2020 and to see y’all one more time since we couldn’t see you at an event or a race or our wedding, but a celebrate nonetheless. Сон напрямую связан с двумя гормонами: мелатонином и кортизолом. Кортизол - гормон помогающий нам пережить стресс. Для его выработки нужен витамин С. Поэтому есть смысл начать принимать его дополнительно, чтобы не допустить истощения витамина С в организме. А для того, чтобы поймать максимальное количество мелатонина важно лечь спать в 22:00, максимум до 23:00 и проснуться до 7:00. Знаю, сложно. Чтобы было проще исключаем: ⠀ ❌ голубой свет. Излучение от гаджетов, телевизора и компьютера. За 2 часа убираем все гаджеты, а с 21:00 ставим режим желтого экрана на смартфон для исключения голубого излучения. ⠀ ❌ дневной свет. Блэкаут шторы, либо светонепроницаемая повязка на глаза. Помимо этого для комфортного сна рекомендую приобрести удобные беруши. ⠀ Посвятите время перед сном тому, что вас успокаивает. Например, прослушиванию (не смотря при этом в телефон) медитации/звуков природы.., чтению книги или принятию успокаивающей ванны. ⠀ Кстати, одна из действенных wellness-привычек для быстрого засыпания - теплая ванная, например, с эфирными маслами лаванды/мяты, либо с магниевой солью. Магний способствует укреплению нервной системы и лучше усваивается из вне. Магниевые соли Эпсома стоят достаточно дорого, а соли бишофит - одна из доступных альтернатив ( 1 пакетик - на ванную). Уже 5 процедур помогут успокоить нервы и наладить сон. Полезно и детям в период повышенной перевозбудимости, и взрослым. ⠀ Шаг 2. Чай из травок- адаптогенов перед сном, если нет противопоказаний. (Все про адаптогены в ленте, не поленитесь, прочтите). ⠀ Шаг 3. Дышите перед сном 5 минут животом. Это поможет снять спазм в области диафрагмы. Emma, Alyson and Katie are loved and with us every minute of every day since they were born. 11 years without them here has not changed that. It’s hard for me to remember things before 2009, sometimes it’s just as hard to remember yesterday. Maybe my mind is too busy working through the days to recall memories I wish I could grab and hold onto. But lately I have been working on appreciating how hard we have worked to survive without Emma, Alyson and Katie here so that we can be our best for them, for Kasey, our family, friends and all of you who support our foundation. I continue to learn many things through this life. It’s not all about sadness and loss. There is a lot to be grateful for. I make plenty of mistakes along the way, but I try everyday to get back to the person I want to be and someone my girls can be proud of. I know each day is going to have some good and some bad in it. If I can tip the scales even a little bit towards the good, the days come together easier. I ask for help when I need it and thankfully we have always had people who answer the call. I’m working on being more patient, creating peace, being more social and having a plan for every day (thank God the Mets are back). I am working on repaying generosity, support and friendship with honesty and by showing up, even when that is exceptionally hard. Faith, optimism and a desire to fight are challenged every day. But I won’t give up because I owe my girls my best fight. I watched a silly movie the other night and one of the songs stood out. Some of the lyrics were, “Now that I have lived / A lifetimes worth of days / Finally I see / The folly of my ways / And then in the end / When youth is spent and burned / You’ll see that its all about family and friends / Loving yourself / But not only yourself / It’s about the good walk / And the hard walk / It’s about make a little music everyday.” Thank you for reading this and remembering Emma, Alyson and Katie and all those who died 11 years ago. We appreciate you staying by our side and never forgetting — more than you could know. We will continue to walk the good walk and the hard walk for them. Be safe. Neither Hazar Mansour nor Hussam Alhallak spoke any English when they arrived in Rutland from Syria three years ago. But on Saturday, they stood in front of a group of Rutland residents and delivered speeches. “When I left Syria, I lost everything during my journey to find a safe place for my children,” Hazar said, addressing a socially distanced crowd of 25, plus 18 more on Zoom. “We spent six years in constant mobility.” Hussam, Hazar and their two children, Layan and Mohammad, arrived in Rutland in January 2017, the same month that President Donald Trump signed an executive order that drastically limited the number of refugees who could enter the country. Before Trump’s order, Rutland was in line to become a hub for refugee resettlement. Though the topic was hotly debated locally, the city prepared to host 100 refugees, mostly from Syria. The Alhallak family was one of three to arrive in time. Now, the family of five is finally home. As of July, they own a house in Rutland City, which they recently purchased through Habitat for Humanity. On Saturday, they welcomed 25 people into their new backyard for the dedication ceremony, which Habitat for Humanity hosts upon the completion of each project. They moved in this summer, but the pandemic delayed the ceremony. For Hazar and Hussam, the dedication helped celebrate the end of one very long journey, and the beginning of a new one. Bobby Jones III and I have had 13 years of friendship, a big chunk of this time being very formative years of my life. A great deal of these memories include laughing until our faces hurt and roasting the ever loving shit out of each other, followed by the Bobby Jones gentle giggle + shoulder squeeze combo. There is so much to say about Bobby. But, in short; he was gentle, loving and kind, obscenely generous-to his detrament, so, so goddamn funny and self deprecating, incredibly curious and extremely intelligent, he had a talent for linguistics, he was a bit ocd, and he was fiercely protective and very proud of those he cared for. He defined a big part of him by the ones he held dear. Someone who knew him very intimately said to me, ‘he had so much love for everyone else, he didn’t save any for himself’. I wish that wasn’t so goddamn accurate. In our last conversation, he’d just gotten home from the hospital, deciding he wanted to come home to pass comfortably. The first thing he said to me on the phone was, ‘I’m sorry that I missed your birthday, what’d ya do?’ I fought back tears as I told him about how I’d spent my day. In some of his last moments, my birthday was on the forefront of his mind. That’s Bobby. When we got off the phone, he said he’d call me back once he got settled in. The last thing we said to each other was I love you. I am forever grateful for that. His passing is complex and tragic and unfair and quite frankly I do not know how to reconcile with it. This insidious disease had it’s grip on him, and the loss of his beloved brother was profound and the sadness that followed for years was debilitating. I will grapple still, with what I could’ve done better or differently as a friend, while I reassure everyone that there isn’t anything that we could’ve done. Because there wasn’t. Bobby was secretive and proud and stubborn and he never wanted anyone to make a fuss over him. True to Bobby, he did things his way and he fought like hell till the end. This still doesn’t feel real and I don’t know when it will. But I am thankful for this friendship, for all of it, even the hard stuff. I love you dumb dumb. - @emirirozu on Instagram

Wanting it so bad. To be a boy. I knew I was a boy because all the other boys played with me. They made me feel a part of. We would go on family vacations and I could not wait to hang out with the boys. Water skiing. Jumping off the houseboat. Or just being a part of the boys club. They never said anything to me about being a girl. They called me the boy name and just went along with it. I look back on those days with a smile on my face. How no one cared that I was a girl who wanted to be a boy. Now I know why everyone was ok. Because I was a boy. My energy and my desire to be seen this way makes me feel that is why no one cared. These guys in the photo were older than me but they still let me tag along. Let me be Buck. It wasnt until later on when puberty happened that they started to treat me different. I was no longer welcome to hang out. They would ditch me. Not want to be seen with me. I did not understand. I cried a lot. I was a very immature fifteen year old. I did not connect with girls my age. I hated even being around girls. Eventually I would find boys to play with me but they were twelve and I was fifteen. Immature. Confused. Laughed at. This was the beginning of me feeling empty and lost. Questioning why I had to be a girl and not a boy. I see you trans kids. I feel your pain. Its so hard to be looked at in a way that makes you feel uncomfortable. How I made it here today is a miracle. A love for myself. Lots and lots of therapy. Trans kids exist. But what I need to say is this. Transition is a process that will change your life. Take small steps. Today you have so much to be grateful for. I want to see you become so amazing and powerful. You will if you stay focused on you. There are to many voices now and everyone thinks they know whats best. Miss France is in the grand finale along with with Miss Italy (as if a cuisine specialising in carbs WASN’T going to be in the final) and Miss America (same goes with a country that classifies a litre of coke as a “small” serving size). If the final is the last chance to blow judges away, then Felix DEFINITELY did this with their Profiteroles with vanilla ice cream, salted caramel and hot chocolate sauce and this AMAZING vanilla creme brûlée with raspberry sorbet. Perfect way to end a meal, and needless to say Miss France has WON Miss Universe/Restaurant this time round, and that’s without a doubt or any mishaps when announcing the winner (cough cough Steve Harvey circa 2015). I guess my years of being an introvert are about to pay off lol😂 . This might mean more time for cookies like this!😋 . 🍪Chocolate cookie stuffed with marshmallow fluff and white chocolate chips!🙌 . Recipe👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼 . Ingredients (2 servings) . - 3/4 cup (90g) all purpose flour - 3 Tbsp (15g) unsweetened cocoa powder - 3g activated charcoal powder (for color) - 1/2 tsp baking soda - a pinch of salt - 1.5 Tbsp (21g) coconut oil - 40g unsweetened almond milk - 2 tsp vanilla extract - 96g coconut sugar - chocolate chips and marshmallow fluff . In a bowl, whisk together dry ingredients (not including sugar). In a separate bowl, melt coconut oil and almond milk together. Mix remaining wet ingredients and sugar with coconut oil and almond milk. Pour dry ingredients into wet and mix until combined. Chill in fridge for at least an hour. Remove from fridge and spoon half the mixture into a prepared skillet or baking dish. Stuff with marshmallow fluff and sprinkle white chocolate chips on top and bake at 350 for 12 minutes. Enjoy! . August broke me down. I’m sure like so many people, each month becomes difficult in a new way, a new exploration of where we can be pushed to, how we can grow as humans. Here is the photographic memory of the month that wore me down- my baby grew, getting so close to 2 it makes my heart ache. We ate cake, and drank coffee, and had too many glasses of wine. Mike left for work, and he came back. We played tennis, I cut Mike’s hair and nearly peed my pants in the process. Our neighbor tattooed Mike’s ring finger, and I chickened out. Theo and I traveled to Pennsylvania to be with family and with Mike when we needed it most. I cried more than I ever have, we made difficult decisions and nothing felt right. I FaceTimed my mom, I felt like a bad mother, we watched a lot of TV, I FaceTimed my mom again. I found our Christmas pajamas, I felt my heart break when I thought of the life I have, the joy and the love, the sadness and the rawness. I counted my blessings and then probably cried again. It is incomprehensible to me to feel such gratitude and such sadness in the same shaky breath. - @isabern on Instagram

Growing up in Michigan, 90% of my diet was Sanders Chocolate Fudge Bumpy Cake ice cream. When my mom would arrive home with a Meijer grocery bag, I basically had a Pavlovian drool response. Esse é o meu guri! Meu bebê Bruno! Nasceu em fevereiro, no dia de São Valentim. Tínhamos tantos planos para esse ano, inclusive uma viagem programada agora em agosto onde ele iria me acompanhar em dois super eventos que estávamos planejando para a Luxion. Quando Bruno completou um mês tudo mudou: um tal de Corona vírus chegou e a gente ficou em casa. Bruno conhece poucas pessoas, e a maioria só conhece os olhos 😷 Mas uma coisa que ele ainda não sabe e um dia vai entender: somos privilegiados. Estamos enfrentando um momento histórico de reclusão juntos!
