Earlier this year @fujinonlenses asked me to do a customer testimonial for the posters they display at NAB. I couldn’t say yes fast enough. My father had one of these when I was a kid for the C-series lenses and I am beyond stoked to have one now as well. Last pic with old sled vs. first pic with new sled ~ I recently replaced my old 1989 Tiffen EFP steadicam sled with the brand new MK-V Nexus V5, the first of its kind. Took 9 months to build but already, after only 2 recent uses, I can tell its a game changer. The thought of using it on set is what kept me sane during lockdown. The ability to go from high to low mode in mere seconds, electronics capable of powering 3 Arri LFs simultaneously and a structure designed and made by genius engineers with materials like aircraft grade aluminium and carbon fiber - its a dream to fly and I feel very privileged to be able to weild it. Do small things with great love. . A new look for 20. Its been a while since Ive posted anything, although a lot has happened since Ive move to California. I can honestly say, its been life changing and I could never go back to the same person I was before. The friends that Ive made at USC are amazing and so supportive. Giving my weekends up for going on film sets is what I look forward to every week. And its truly sad that COVID-19 has put all of that to a halt. . Its important that we act out of true love during this pandemic. It can be really tough for some people who have to keep going to work, have a bad family life at home, or have no one or nothing to turn to when everything is closed. Check up on the people you care about. Check up on the people that you have been estranged from. Check up on those strangers that you never wouldve thought had a problem in their life. And make these things a habit, because when you least expect it, someone might need you to just be a friend. . Stay safe out there. During downtime, I was able to complete principal photography on a music video in which narrative dance plays a prominent role. Im definitely looking forward to that release! What do the arts in Charlotte mean to you? There has never been a more important time for the arts to prevail! Another picture of me with my cinema camera rig. You may just spot what I think is an absolute gem of a product, that allows me to film handheld for hours without aches or fatigue. Its a @hippychickbaby Hipseat! (swipe to see a close up of the Hipseat) . Designed for mothers to help support their baby when carrying them on their hips, but Im using it here to support my camera rig. It has a strong wide velcro strap that goes around your body, easy to take on and off. Highly recommend it to other camera operators. . I actually filmed a series of videos for Hippychick about 6 or 7 years ago (a few of those videos are still on their YouTube channel), and as soon as I saw the Hipseat I remember thinking it would be a boon for supporting a camera when filming. So a few years ago I bought one for myself, and initially used it with the original Ronin gimbal and it helped with the weight of that.
