We planned on spending the afternoon at Sandbanks yesterday and apparantly so did many others. We didnt make it in but we did venture around and just so happen to park next to the South Bay Cemetary, a tiny pioneer cemetary erected in the early 1820s. The pictured stones have been recovered and laid here as memoriam, their graves lost to history with some stones buried by overgowth. - @krispeez on Instagram

माणिकदुर्ग - चिपळूण तालुक्यातील मांडकी गावाच्या मागील डोंगरावर असलेला माणिकदूर्ग लोकांच्या विस्मृतीत गेला होता. पुण्याचे इतिहास संशोधक सचिन जोशी यांनी केलेल्या संशोधनामुळे हा गड प्रकाशात आला. प्राचिन काळी पालशेत बंदरात उतरलेला माल घाटमार्गांनी कर्हाडच्या बाजारपेठेत जात असे. या घाटमार्गावर लक्ष ठेवण्यासाठी माणिकदूर्गाची योजना करण्यात आली होती. माणिकगडाला दुर्गेचा डोंगर या नावानेही ओळखले जाते. विजयनगर साम्राज्यात माणिकदूर्ग किल्ला होता. पवार नामक व्यक्तीच्या ताब्यात हा किल्ला होता. पालशेत बंदरात उतरलेला माल विविध घाटमार्गाने कर्हाडच्या बाजारपेठेत जात असे. या मार्गावर लक्ष ठेवण्यासाठी नवतेदूर्ग, कासारदूर्ग, माणिकदूर्ग, भैरवगड इ. किल्ल्यांची मालिका होती. आदिलशहाने विजयनगरचे साम्राज्य जिंकल्यावर हे किल्ले त्याच्या ताब्यात गेले. हे किल्ले त्याने पाडले; यामुळे आज हे किल्ले इतिहासात जमा झाले आहेत. मांडकी गावामागील गर्द झाडी असलेल्या डोंगरावर माणिकदूर्गचे अवशेष विखुरलेले आहेत. किल्ल्यात प्रवेश केल्यावर उजवीकडे गेल्यावर किल्ल्याच्या टोकावर सुकाई देवीचे मंदिर आहे. या मंदिराकडे जाताना ठिकठिकाणी झाडांच्या बुंध्यात अडकलेले व गवतात लपलेले किल्ल्याच्या तटबंदीचे अवशेष दिसतात. सुकाई देवी मंदिराच्या मागिल बाजूस एक गोलाकार उंचवटा दिसतो. तेथे गाडला गेलेला बुरुज असण्याची शक्यता आहे. या बुरुजाला वळसा घालून किल्ला उजवीकडे ठेवत अवघड वाटेने काही अंतर गेल्यावर ५ लेणी पाहायला मिळतात. तिथून परत किल्ल्यात प्रवेश केला त्या ठिकाणी येऊन डावीकडे गेल्यावर (किल्ल्यावरील सुकाई देवीचे मंदिराच्या विरूध्द बाजूच्या) टोकावर पाण्याची २ टाक आहेत. त्यापैकी एका टाक्यावर यक्ष प्रतिमा कोरलेल्या आहेत. याशिवाय गडावरच्या गर्द झाडीत विविध प्रकारचे पक्षी व फुलपाखर पाहायला मिळतात. #gadvaari #raigadfort #shivnerifort #monsoontreks #lovetrekking #trekdiaries #trekwomen #trekkers #kothaligad #trekkingfamily #mahulifort #kalsubai #kalavantinfort #petervangeit #maharashtra_trekking_memes #sahyadri_kille_official #laibharimanus #dongaryatra_official #dongaryatra #maharashtra_desha #jiddimaratha #trekkinglife #gadvedetrekkers #gadvede #jkv #_the_great_maratha_96_k #trekkingntravelling #trekking.lover #nustabhatkantii_ #maharashtra_forts - @gadvaari on Instagram

A smoke detector in every room would of saved the house. (Watch the video I posted yesterday for context). This first picture is what our bedroom looked like before they boarded it up. The smoke had to travel from the laundry room you see in the back, through our bedroom, through the kitchen and living room before it got to the smoke detector. That smoke detector saved our lives but it was too late for the house by then. We don’t know what caused the fire, but we know where it started. It started inside the laundry room, on or under a wooden desk that had a printer and a lithium battery charger plugged in. We’re guessing it was something with the electricity or the battery that could of sparked the smallest flame, next to paper, next to wood. It happened so fast. We’re ok. And I’m so thankful today for our lives, for our love, for our community, for our work... we are so blessed. People’s kindness moved me to tears a few times today. My heart is with everyone else displaced by fires this year that don’t have the support we do. I wish I could direct all this energy coming towards us to others who don’t have it. If people know links for that, please post in the comments. And get a smoke detector in every room y’all. Make sure they are working. Would hate for this to happen to anyone else. UNA TUMBA INKA EN SANTIAGO💀 Quilicura fue habitada por personas desde mucho antes de la llegada del español, y un ejemplo de lo anterior es el sitio arqueológico llamado Quilicura 1. Hoy nos centraremos en la denominada tumba 5, que cuenta con valiosa información al ser excavada con metodología arqueológica ya que los dueños del lugar avisaron sobre éste hallazgo el 2014 (gracias 😍), lo que permitió un buen estudio contextual, de registro y análisis posteriores. A partir de los estudios sabemos que el lugar tiene al menos 3 ocupaciones. Una de los primeros grupos agrícolas (de casi 2000 años atrás), la ocupación de periodo Inka (que nosotr@s llamamos tardío) y una del siglo XVIII. La tumba💀🦴 corresponde al período Inka, de hace unos 600 años atrás. Es de una mujer que murió cuando tenía entre 20 a 35 años😔. Diversos análisis revelan que su dieta alimentaria fue de maiz🌽, y otros vegetales silvestres y domésticos. También comió carne🥩. Otra cosa interesante es que las ofrendas consisten principalmente en cerámica⚱️ de distintos orígenes, en su mayoría locales, algunas con influencia Inka Diaguita y en menor medida algunas producidas fuera, quizás de Perú😲, destacando 2 keros, que son unos vacitos🥛 con alto poder simbólico para el Inka. En éstos se tomaba chicha de maíz, los análisis botánicos realizados 🧫🧪🧬🔬 lo corroboran y también nos cuentan que en las otras vasijas hubo maiz, papas, quinoa, aji y diversas legumbres 🌽🌶️🥔. Lo anterior es muy importante ya que éste entierro (y las piezas del puzzle 🧩) estarían dando cuenta de la forma que tuvo el Inca (o el tawantinsuyu) de relacionarse con algunas poblaciones locales de Santiago (relaciones variadas) donde los rituales mortuorios (funerales⚰️) pudieron ser una instancia de sociabilización para establecer alianzas y vínculos, considerando que en el Mundo Andino la reciprocidad y él culto a los antepasados es muy importante, donde las comilonas y la chicha jugaron un rol central y por ende las vasijas que contenían estos productos. Заброшки Аубурна - это отдельная тема. Люблю такое. Из находок - потрясающий цоколь старинного дома с сохранившимися железными засовами. Вот 100 лет назад там случился пожар, а двери так и остались запертыми. Невероятная точка консервации времени. Рядом не примечательный дом с кирпичной трубой. Труба как труба. Но на ней - миниатюрный домик с аистом на крыше (листайте). Может этот аист все ещё хранит домишко от окончательного разрушения, и у потомков рано или поздно дойдут руки до создания здесь музея. А планы такие имеются. Вообще, под ногами - готовые арт - объекты, а значит и деньги. Как ещё практичные американцы до этого не додумались, - загадка. Надгробие богослова, писателя, проповедника, протопресвитера Иоанна Леонтьевича Янышева, который был широко известен во второй половине XIX – начале XX столетия. Он родился в Калужской губернии в семье дьякона в 1826 г. В 1849 г. Янышев окончил Санкт-Петербургскую духовную академию. В начале 1850-х его назначили клириком православной церкви Висбадена. В Германии он прожил около пятнадцати лет. В 1866 г. Иоанн Леонтьевич занял должность ректора Санкт-Петербургской духовной академии. Янышев принялся за реформирование процесса обучения, чтобы привести его в соответствие с европейскими стандартами. Ему хотелось скомбинировать несколько богословский и светских традиций. Он нередко приглашал для чтения лекций влиятельных ученых из различных учебных заведений. ⠀ В 1883 г. Иоанн Леонтьевич стал духовником императорской семьи. В частности, Янышев был законоучителем будущего императора Николая II. Скончался протопресвитер в 1910 г. Отпевание состоялось в Петропавловском соборе. Могила Иоанна Леонтьевича расположена на Волковском православном кладбище.
