I know put a shirt on Wes!! I won’t, it was literally over 100 degrees when I took this photo today and I had just finished working out, So leave me alone! Ha But for real, do you like the person you’ve become? Because I didn’t, and no this is not a fitness thing I’m not going to give a life coach speech.. but I am just happy, more confident and really enjoying life even under the current circumstances (COVID SUCKS!!) after a long time I’m feeling like myself again, just over 4 months ago I was drinking myself to sleep pretty much every night while telling people I was doing “fine”, I was depressed, dealing with anxiety, just not feeling this life thing you know.. These last few months have not been easy, not for me and not for most of you, but one thing this season has thought me was to not give up, to be consistent, to love myself enough to change, to be better, to do better for the people that matters to me, to deal with my issues and to stop “BSing” myself into think I was fine and didn’t need help.. eat better, work out, dance around the house, start posting on TikTok, get a puppy (a puppy never a cat they are from the devil),rest, be kind to yourself, sleep and DECIDE that enough is enough. Most importantly allowed God in, and let Him mess with those things, those feelings inside you that you just didn’t want him or anyone to find out it was there. He is KIND and he loves you! God never promised this life would be unicorns and butterflies all the time, but He promised you He would be there every step of the way, right next to you, he is so good to us, even when we don’t deserve it(let me break this out to ya WE DONT!!) Do the journey, don’t cut corners, quit lying to yourself, talk to people, talk to God, read the Bible, become the person you know you can be! I’m nowhere near where I want to be, I don’t have everything figure it out, but I’m walking my journey not really giving a damn to what people think of me... because it really doesn’t matter, I know who I am, I know who my God is, and I know who I am in His eyes!Maybe you needed to read this maybe you just wasted 4 mins of your life, either way it’s here now Love ya - @wesyang on Instagram

It’s Hispanic/LatinX Heritage month, what what 🙌🏽 I have had the privilege of growing around a vibrant Latinx and Hispanic community here in NWA, who build each other up, and come together in times of need without a second thought. I have been so grateful to find myself in safe spaces where I can have open discussions about my own journey as a gay Chicanx person, and hear the many stories of others with no judgment. I know not everyone is lucky enough to have that, so during this time, I want to remember and uplift our trans brothers and sisters, queer Latinx/Hispanic people fighting for acceptance, Afro-Latinx people searching for representation, people who are immigrants or children of immigrants that have been affected by changes in policy, and factory, construction, and farm workers who are still working their asses off during covid, literally risking their lives to not only put food on their own table, but feeding an entire nation. There is no limit to the intersections of identity, so we must not only embrace all of our differences and struggles, but also listen to others with intention. Who I unfortunately never got to meet. But I found out when her birthday was and she was a sagittarius. The sister sign to Gemini. Memorializing my grandmothers on my body is my way of paying honor to them. Honoring the women who brought my parents into this world. ⠀ ⠀ Being Black, having descended from the transatlantic slave trade, there is very little I know about my grandparents and where they came from. But there is something about getting tattooed that feels right. I feel more like myself. Like it has always been apart of me. It’s been locked into my DNA. Body modification has been colonized. And colonizers are trying to keep it from Black bodies and sell it back to us yt-washed. This has been happening for centuries to Black people, being denied something and us reinventing into something else. ⠀ ⠀ We won’t see the change in the tattoo industry, if we are waiting on the tattooers who practice racism, sexism and spread false information about tattooing from their own lack of knowledge and skill, to change.⠀ ⠀ It’s exhausting to see performative Instagram posting and there be no real action taken to help. There are communities that are working hard to uplift marginalized bodies and keep them safe. Cause they are disappearing, literally being killed in front of us. And it’s until a Black body is killed that people start to pay attention and say something to just say something. But will most likely continue back to their practice of antiBlackness. Overt racism and covert racism, comfortably. ⠀ ⠀ If you identify as Black and reading this, I hope you can claim love and peace for yourself in whatever way it may looks like. Acorde... Isso é Skate! 1986 #tbt Muito legal quando achamos fotos inéditas de momentos importantes depois de praticamente 34 anos, perdidos em arquivos empoeirados e abandonados... Essa foto inédita, onde estou mandando esse street plant dentro de um cemitério, foi durante o campeonato que teve esse nome (Acorde! isso é Skate) em 1986, na frente da loja da Mad Rats (meu patrocinador e do campeonato), que ficava no bairro de Pinheiros, na Rua Conego Engênio Leite em SP. No mesmo dia das competições, escapamos para uma inspeção no melhor espirito “street rat”, invadindo o cemitério São Paulo, que fica no final da rua, pra explorar e ver se renderia algumas manobras e sessions entre jazidos e lápides. Esse cemitério é famoso por ficar cravado e separar os boêmios bairros de Pinheiros e Vila Madalena... e rendeu esse meu plant na cruz de um dos jazidos de marmore. Logo atrás está o Lance (@rogeriolance). Como hoje, naquela época onde o street skate estava em total evolução, contra-cultura e contra todos, tudo e qualquer lugar era skatável! Era uma época que o Street Skate era sinônimo de boneless, ollies, slides, plants, rock slides e wall plants... o carro também não podia faltar como obstáculos e arrastando as imagens, algumas fotos desse evento, onde estou mandando um wall plant (ou car plant), com o carro já detonado (um Galaxie 500) raro nos dias de hoje, rockslide na barra, etc... Desculpe aos amantes dos Galaxie, mas nessa época esses carros eram considerados quase sucatas e pro skate, o melhor obstáculo pras manobras! Reclining nude as a mixed race transgender person. The reclining nude has a history of being in big oil paintings of white cis gender women. Where they are set in a domestic setting with a posture that is casual, comfortable, sensual. They were viewed as the pinnacle of what was desirable in an art historical context, which is problematic in the history of imaging and the way people are valued as a whole. Within photography, daguerreotype’s were primarily of cis/hetero white nuclear families in the bourgeoisie (due to financial/resource accessibility to image making). The only time I saw images of people outside of “cis-hetero whiteness”, felt exploitative and othered. Trying to continue visualizing this vessel as something that isn’t just yearning to be normal (i do not want to fit a standard, i do not want that to be what my worth is given for). I want to freeze time, I want to freeze this moment. Where I can exist outside of the realm of cis-hetero perception of “normalcy”. Where i can be, where i can be. Here’s a thought: if we start thinking of love as an action, how have you shown yourself love recently? 🌿Declarations of self-love on platforms like this one can feel empowering, especially when they come from people who look like us and who share similar identities to us. However, these small snapshots in time often don’t show the bigger, ongoing work that’s happening behind the scenes. Sometimes we see the results of self-love without understanding the process. 🌿Self-love simply doesn’t happen - for most of us it requires small actions of compassion, caring, understanding, and acceptance for ourselves on a daily basis. To acquire a feeling where we are content with ourselves, maybe even celebratory of our individuality, we have to start small.
