To many times we sweep things under the rug. We put on our smiley faces and live day by day hurting, sad, confused, frustrated inside. If you feel as if you are depressed and are in a dark place in your life I would like to pray with you and equip you with the word of God that brings forth hope. DM all prayer requests. - @_freedom_fighters on Instagram

I wanted Noah to attend the vigil tonight in PDX for George Floyd to show solidarity with Minneapolis, but he didn’t want to go. When I picked him up afterwards, I brought him this sign from the vigil and he expressed to me that he didn’t want to go because he was scared and worried that the police would show up and things would get dangerous for the people. But he understands the message of the sign and supports the movement and wants people to know what he stands for. Noah’s a half Black, half East Indian 10yr old with albinism and everytime another Black life is murdered at the hands of the police, I think of him first. I think about how he was born with a rare disease that affects 1 and 20k people in the US, one that allows him the ability to appear white...which, in-turn, could essentially save his life one day. I think about the fact that so many others do not have this ability and are instead targets simply for the color of their skin. Targets to racist and hateful ass people that value power over other human lives like the cops that murdered George Floyd. Racism is power, white supremacy is terrorism...this country was built on it and you should be sick of it. I’m so sad and angry lately, but I’m taking comfort in Noah and his honesty and strength and love that he shows me everyday. I’m hugging him extra tight and his father and I are teaching him to fight racism and white supremacy because his life matters, George’s life mattered, Black lives matter♥️ - @_nishafox_ on Instagram

Book discussion will be led by members of the @earthplacect team. 𝗟𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝗶𝗻 𝗯𝗶𝗼 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗴𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 In August 2018 a fifteen-year-old Swedish girl, Greta Thunberg, decided not to go to school one day in order to protest the climate crisis. Her actions sparked a global movement, inspiring millions of students to go on strike for our planet, forcing governments to listen, and earning her a Nobel Peace Prize nomination. 𝘕𝘖 𝘖𝘕𝘌 𝘐𝘚 𝘛𝘖𝘖 𝘚𝘔𝘈𝘓𝘓 𝘛𝘖 𝘔𝘈𝘒𝘌 𝘈 𝘋𝘐𝘍𝘍𝘌𝘙𝘌𝘕𝘊𝘌 brings you Greta in her own words, for the first time. Collecting her speeches that have made history across the globe, from the United Nations to Capitol Hill and mass street protests, her book is a rallying cry for why we must all wake up and fight to protect the living planet, no matter how powerless we feel. Our future depends upon it.
