How do I even begin to describe the miracle that is Ezekiel? Ever since invading my childless world 8 short years ago, he has brought nothing but joy into my life and into the lives of those he encounters. This dude was created SPECIAL, with incredible purpose... which means... he will (likely) have to overcome a few Goliaths along the way, BUT – even in the face of his first giant – he remained a cheerful braveheart. We are now nearing the end (finally!) of Ezekiel’s outpatient treatment, and I’m realizing just how far we’ve come on this journey and just how sick he really was. As I rushed him to the ER (around 7:30 pm on August 7th), nothing felt real and I had all but convinced myself that I was overreacting and just erring on the side of “safe than sorry”. I figured the doctors would turn me away saying, “this is just your PTSD talking, you crazy mama!” Little did I know, my Z was in harm’s way, and death was trying to wriggle its slimy hands back into our lives. Doctors started using TRIGGERING tones and all-too-familiar terms, and I felt my body immediately shift gears into what I like to call “Cruz Control”, the autopilot that got me through the long, excruciating, too-hard-to-accept, horrific, sleepless season that was the life and death of my baby Cruz. [To this day, when I find myself operating in Cruz Control, I can go DAYS, or even longer, without wearing the weight of Cruz.... then out of nowhere grief will hit me like a ton of bricks. The brain’s coping mechanisms are fascinating to me!] Anyway, hearing that Z might have meningitis that had already spread to the brain, well, that information was wayyyyyyy too difficult to process. They were talking about weeks in the hospital, possible brain damage, antibiotic-resistant bacterias.... it felt like a twilight zone. Hearing him screaming in the MRI machine with no ability to go in there and comfort him... I was crying on the inside but no tears were streaming down my cheeks; my emotions were too big for my body to process and my brain simply said, INFORMATION REJECTED//ACCESS DENIED. When I was in worse state. It was always something that was missing. A person who make me feel happy. A person who understood me. Who felt what I felt. I need a person who understood what was going inside me. I need a person who could guide me. That time I wanted to die. I couldnt find the person that time. That person was not there for me. Then I had only two options and I chose to fight. I wanted to find myself I wanted to fill my emptiness. I wanted to discover who I was. How could I find my self in the chaos. It took very long time to discover who I am. And now ik my low points ik my weakness ik how to express my feelings ik about my peace ik how can I find peace and ik myself better than anyone. I found out what works and what doesnt work for me. I understand the one thing very clearly if you wanna be happy so treat people like as you would like to be treated yourself. Alot has happened so I have lost hope, confidence has been damaged. But with the time and awareness I have found my way back. Now I want to show who I am. I want to prove myself by my talent. Now ik what talent I have. Sometimes I feel empty I feel down but now I dont need any person to lift me up. I dont need any person to fill my emptiness. ALHAMDULILLAH now I understand the realtion between me and Allah. Now ik how to make myself happy. Now Ik my limits. Ik my worth. Sometimes I call my self unworhty but that was just a phase. I get asked all of the time how I create my mood boards (for fun + for clients), so I thought I’d share some of my top mood board design tips here on Instagram! 👇🏼 - • Choose your mood board template and save it for future use. (I have my 9-square mood board template saved in Illustrator!) - • Choose your color palette. (I usually pull this from an inspiration image or use my clients current colors). - • Add your colors to each placeholder beforehand and use it as a guide when you begin searching for images. - • Search images on Pinterest + Unsplash. (These are my top two sites!) - • Think about main elements that fit the clients style + overall mood. In this example, I searched for things like: “sweater weather, cozy vibes, muted teal, burnt orange, leaves, fall closet, etc.” - • Include the keyword “aesthetic” in your search for higher quality images. (👈🏼 Game changer!!) - • Use Pinterest’s “Visual Search” feature to expand your search further with related images. - • Use a mix of textures, colors, shapes, typography + design. - • Play with angles + composition when cropping photos. - • Arrange your photos so the opposites complement each other.
