Our #WCW and second Chattable guest is @camillacleese Camilla Cleese is a comedian, writer and actor currently based in Los Angeles, CA. Originally from London, where she was born into a family of comedians and lawyers, Camilla then moved with her mother to the US, first to Southern Illinois, then Chicago, and Lake Forest. She continued to bounce around, living in Jackson Hole, Santa Barbara, NYC and about 6 other places before settling in Los Angeles giving her a unique perspective. Before pursuing comedy, Camilla attended UCSB (occasionally), was a professional equestrian and model. Initially she was writing comedy, fortunate to work with and learn from her father, John Cleese, and write her way into her first stage show. Continuing to write, she studied acting and started doing more performing with a sketch comedy group and training in Improv at the UCB and Groundlings. One of the members of her sketch group – Sarah Tiana – inspired her to start doing stand up, and before long it became the focal point of her career. Currently Camilla can be seen playing a supporting role in the independent Drama “High and Outside” on Amazon. She is slated to shoot three films – all independent comedies – which are on hold due to COVID-19. These include “Cut the Painter”, “Bachelorette Weekend” and “One Night in Bath” in which she has the lead role. She continues to work with her father, both writing and performing, and has a number of projects in the pipeline with him. Namely the Broadway musical adaptation of “A Fish Called Wanda”, and “Relatively Famous” A pilot she wrote loosely based on her life with her father. The others, unfortunately, required signing a silly number of NDAs even though you probably wouldn’t be the slightest bit interested anyway. Meet Team Bbcom Name: Candace Candi Lawson Sport Pillar: General Fitness Most Proud Fitness/Sport Achievement: Being featured on Bodybuildingcom’s motivation page, Winning the Strong Fitness Magazine transformation challenge and the Lee Labradas LeanBody challenge. Completing 3 bodybuildingcom transformation challenges with 2 of them being completed while in nursing school. Those achievements gave me a boost of confidence to keep going and backed my strong intuition that fitness was my way to express myself and to become comfortable with being me! Favorite Exercise: My new favorite workout is squats and deadlifts!! Im learning my strength at the moment and trying to see how far I can push myself but outside of those, I actually love cArDiO! It really relaxes me and I am able to let my mind just wonder and be free! I have made it a goal to run to participate in at least one half marathon a year and hopefully one day I will woman up and complete a full marathon. This past year my children joined me in 3 different races and I love that my passion sparks an interest in them as well. What has inspired your fitness journey? My family inspires my fitness journey everyday. Being able to teach my kids what is possible with dedication and hard work motivates me to keep pushing forward. Fitness balances my inner chaos and helps to keep me mentally sane for my family. I am my best self when I stay on track with eating healthy and working out and I know my family appreciates a healthy mom/wife. Happy mom/wife, Happy life!! What advice would you give to those getting started on their fitness journey? To set realistic goals, stay consistent and celebrate the small achievements as well as the big ones! Mental strength is very important when starting a fitness journey so I would definitely encourage them to keep their mental health at the top of the priority list; to surround themselves with like minded people and a positive environment. My fitfam is the best!! Fun fact most people dont know about you: Im a lover of all types of music and can play a variety of woodwind instruments. There is more determination than talent in most achievement. And here is a perfect example: This picture was taken at my first ever Canadian National Competition, where I did ALL the prep myself. I cooked my own food, bought my own supplements, trained using my own workout programs, and relied on my own diet. I had no sponsors, no meal prep company, and that bikini you see there was actually borrowed from a friend! Then I flew out to Edmonton, and poured my heart and soul on that stage! 🤯 This was the 3rd competition I did on my own before hiring my first physique competition coach the following year. I remember taking this selfie about 2 years ago. I was in a really good shape back then. And I’m not referring to my body composition but rather my strength and endurance. I haven’t been so much on top of my fitness for the past year. I’ve been active, I’ve been exercising but I haven’t been really challenging myself. Now I can barely do 3 pull ups 🤭.
