Info❗😊 Die Bockwindmühle wurde 1686 in Isenstedt (Espelkamp, Kreis Minden-Lübbecke) erbaut. 1868 kaufte sie ein Müller aus dem Nachbarort Hille, der sie nach dorthin umsetzen ließ. Die Mühle war in Hille als Schrot- und vermutlich auch als Gerstenmühle bis 1934 in Betrieb. Die Versetzung zum Bauernhausmuseum erfolgte ein Jahr später. 2013–2015 wurde die Mühle umfassend saniert und statisch ertüchtigt. Die Bezeichnung als Bockwindmühle leitet sich von dem hölzernen Bock ab, auf dem die Mühle steht. Das gesamte Gehäuse der Mühle kann mit Hilfe eines Wendebaums (Steert) in den Wind gedreht werden. Die Bauweise mit einem komplett drehbaren Mühlenkörper ist sehr aufwendig und wartungsintensiv. Der Platz in einer Bockwindmühle war beschränkt. Deshalb wurde dieser Windmühlentyp seit dem 18. Fun fact: I tore a hole in my jeans back when i was about 8 years old. My grandma taught me how to hand sew the hole back together. At the age of 17, i took a clothing class where i was taught to sew with machinery, knit, crochet, and more! I did this for 2 years in high school and i never went forward with sewing. I learned to sew 31 years ago on my Great Aunts 1950s mint green Kenmore machine. I used that baby until my Mom bought me a modern White for Christmas in the mid 90s. I switched between it and a 1939 Singer 201-2 I picked up somewhere. Then, inexplicably, I started using a modern machine- a Viking Emerald- for the last decade or so (the one touch buttonhole tho!). More recently, Im getting back into sewing with vintage machines again and Im seriously wondering why I ever stopped? Not only do they look cool, they are so quiet and will sew through anything you throw at them. I dont think Ill ever go back. Alright, now lets talk binding! I (@amistabaker) love matching my Aurifil thread to my binding color... but I even take it a step further by using a shade in the bobbin that matching my quilt backing (or top, depending on how Ive applied it). I always use @aurifilthread 50 weight for attaching binding to one side of the quilt, and typically finishing it off by hand on the opposite side again with 50 weight thread. After all these years, Ive never had a quilt binding come undone from hand stitching to finish with @aurifilthread 50 weight. It has great strength and glides smoothly. So the real question is, how do you feel about binding? Do you love it or hate it? I feel like we are all in one camp or the other, LOL. - @aurifilthread on Instagram
