One of the biggest misconceptions about #PCOS is the belief that affected women have cysts on their ovaries. The cysts arent cysts at all. Theyre numerous, small immature follicles that never mature to release an egg from the ovaries. ⠀ ⠀ There are many forms of traditional ovarian cysts that are larger in size. Some may even need surgical treatment, can rupture, and be very painful. Any woman can develop these cysts. They are separate though from the tiny follicles that are called cysts in PCOS. ⠀ ⠀ A new name for PCOS has even been proposed to better reflect the condition. What do you think about a name change?
