Such as the caloric insignificance of enjoying a coffee based drink and a chocolate muffin with a friend compared to a seemingly calamitous binge eating episode featuring 4 chocolate based snacks. Yet in this specific example, if erroneous perception prevails, the insignificant coffee and few impromptu nibbles of the muffin will result in consumption of nearly double the calories.⁣ ⁣ In a similar thought, the idea of consuming half packet of biscuits or two donuts will likely appear detrimental to compositional goals if repeated regularly - and with valid reason. Yet the proposition of drinking a coffee and 3 biscuits appears intrinsically more supportive to caloric control. Alas, in this example, it is not. ⁣ ⁣ Any collection of food can fit any goal in isolation. What occurs over weeks, months and years will define compositional and functional outcomes. It must be said that these coffees are large portions with whole milk. Smaller portions with low fat milks will reduce caloric volume.⁣ ⁣ Of course, there are abundances of calorie sparse, nutritious, fibre rich foods which are more likely to physically nourish and satiate - these positive perceptions inadvertently mean such foods are less likely to be to be open to erroneous perception. ⁣ ⁣ But in the case of calorie dense, nutrient sparse foods, obtaining factual information about the them may result in more supportive decisions and behaviours. ⁣ ⁣ To conclude, this is not a call to consume some numerous chocolate bars, biscuits and donuts. There’s a swipe link to the recipe in my story @themealprepmanual⁣ ⁣ MAKES 2⁣ FOR THE PASTRY AND FILLING⁣⁣ * ¼ cup (30 g) rice flour⁣ * ¼ cup (30 g) tapioca flour⁣ (or cornstarch)⁣ * 2 tbsp (16 g) vanilla casein ⁣⁣ * ½ tsp (3 g) butter⁣⁣ * ¼ cup (60 ml) water ⁣⁣ * 2 tbsp (30 g) blueberry jam⁣ homemade or jarred⁣ FOR THE FROSTING⁣⁣ * 2 tbsp (30 g) plain nonfat Greek yogurt ⁣⁣ * 1 tsp (5 g) vanilla casein⁣ (micellar. Brand doesn’t matter)⁣ * 1 tsp (5 g) powdered sugar ⁣⁣ * 1 tsp (4 g) sprinkles ⁣⁣ ⁣ INSTRUCTIONS⁣ * Make the jam or use pre-made. It’s frozen blueberries & splenda reduced & a bit of cornstarch to thicken. ⁣Bring to a boil & mash then thicken with cornstarch slurry.⁣ * Mix the flours & casein together. Add in water & butter. Stir to form dough. Place in the freezer for 10 minutes. ⁣Gluten free dough is often sticky so the freezer will help it dry out a bit.⁣ * Lay out two sheets of wax paper. Spray lightly with oil. Roll out the dough between the paper to 1/8” thick. Trim the edges to form a rectangle. Cut into 4s. ⁣⁣ * Place a spoonful or so of jam at the center of two of the squares. Place the empty squares on top and press down the edges with your finger & crimp with a fork. Its easiest to use the wax paper to assist you in the folding and then peel the paper away.⁣ * Preheat an air fryer or oven to 325°F. Air fry for 8 minutes. Baking might take a bit longer. ⁣⁣ * For the frosting just mix everything together. ⁣ Place in the fridge for a bit to chill.⁣ * Top with frosting & sprinkles. ⁣⁣ ⁣ ❓Can I use regular flour?⁣ ❗️prob. 1:1 swap. ⁣ ⁣ ❓What can I use instead of casein?⁣ ❗️I don’t know how many times it needs to be repeated but you can’t swap casein. It’s unswappable when baking with protein powder. Don’t try and use whey. Don’t try and use vegan protein. It will suck. It will not work. You’re going to waste your time. Thought I’d finally take a family photo while I had all of my Musicman and @sterlingbymusicman guitars. After months of isolation and bad news it can be hard to imagine that theres blue sky ahead, however Sho Shibuya, a Japanese graphic designer and artist living in New York did just that during NYCs most turbulent and strict lockdown by painting the sunrise every morning on his daily copy of the New York Times. I was stuck in my small apartment in Brooklyn, everyday absorbing bad news and I wondered how can I adapt to this new normal without feeling overwhelmed? Some days passed and I realised that from the small windows of the studio, I could not hear the sounds of honking cars or people shouting, I could hear the birds chirping energetically and sound of wind in the trees, and I looked up and saw the bright sky, beautiful as ever despite the changed world beneath it. I was intrigued by the contrast between the chaos in the world and stunning sunrises every day. I started to capture the moment in the newspaper, contrasting the anxiety of the news with the serenity of the sky, creating a record of my new normal. The spirit of the project is that maybe, even after the pandemic subsides, people can continue some of the generosity and peace we discovered in ourselves. The limited editions of our Maku Heirloom display fine, intricate craftsmanship in the supplementary weft weaving tradition of jamdani. These lost skills of the loom have been brought back to life through Maku’s continuous intervention with the weavers of Bardhaman through the last eight years, gradually inching them forward towards finer craftsmanship, and taking them on a journey back in time to an era when exquisite jamas woven by their ancestors were adorned by the Nawabs of Bengal, and noble patrons alike.⁣ ⁣ Jamdani weaving in Bardhaman is carried out in traditional pit looms, half dug under the ground, and requires careful manoeuvring of the mind, body and hands to create beautiful extra-weft motifs on the simultaneous weaving of the base cloth. In this digital and machine age, it still makes use of no punched card mechanisms or automated systems for the lifting of warp threads to create the design. Every thread is lifted by hand according to mental mathematical calculations. The cloth thus made, is a representation of the whole and soul of the weaver. It is a manifestation of all of him, and the legacy which this collaboration has helped carry forward.⁣ ⁣ The weaving of such intricate and all-over jamdani patterns requires, aside from the skills of craft, a hermit-like mental composure and calm disposition – this exceptional blend of qualities in today’s time, makes such craftspersons and in consequence, the craft, quite a rarity.⁣ ⁣ Maku’s Heirloom Programme at the grassroots has been successful in its initiative with the gradual creation of a few prized weavers who, after years of constant involvement, have taken to weaving the very fine jamdani cloths. As you know we love simple vision drills and challenges so heres a great one for a new week! ___________ Here are the basic rules: When you look at the chart you can see squares and lines. If the square is on the left side of the line, you must perform a movement with your left foot. If its on the right side of the line you must perform a movement with your right foot. If its touching the line, you must use both feet. __________ As a basic test of foot-eye coordination we have our athletes simply do this as a marching test in which the they march with their left leg or right leg or do a calf raise if the square is touching the line. We see how many correct movements they can do in a minute. The average is 70-90 per minute. We have many of our athletes that score well over 150 after some training. __________ If you want to make it more interesting, instead of doing a leg tap, you can change it to mean almost anything you like. Here are some examples: Lunges & Squats - Use right and left lateral lunges and a squat. Martial Arts - Left front kick, right front kick, alternating jumping knee. _________ You get the idea. Feel free to play with this. Its a ton of fun and clients love the additional challenge of SEE/DECIDE/ACT.
