Ok guys, serious talk here. A little heart to heart, if you will. This has been something weighting on my mind for a while, something Ive been experiencing and I have a strong suspicion Im not alone here. * * One thing I have learned since getting into this creative business of filmmaking is that sometimes you can have too much creativity and ambition. I know, sounds crazy right? But its TRUE! I have come to find this out the hard way at times. Those moments where you get so many amazing ideas and the mistake Ive made is you try to do them all at once. (Definitely dont recommend...) While the intention may be good, I have to remind myself I am only one person and am only capable of doing so much in a day. That includes taking care of myself as well. Though Im still inadvertently trying to figure out how to function on much less sleep and more caffeine, albeit unsuccessfully... 🤷♀️ * * But if I could impart any wisdom onto all of you, whether youre creative or not, is to not spread yourself too thin. Its SO easy to do, but it will flat burn you out. You dont want that. I know I dont. So if you like me are feeling this way, I want to encourage you to do what Im doing. Scaling back a bit and focusing on a few things at a time (saving those other amazing ideas for later) and allow yourself to breathe and enjoy the other areas in your life that youve likely been neglecting. Quality truly is better than quantity. Your work will also reflect that and be much better too. * * Thanks for listening to my TED Talk! This was as much of a reminder for me as for you all. Stay creative my friends! Never stop growing and exploring the things that get you out of bed every morning. Pursue those passions, chase those dreams! I’m breaking my rule about sharing projects that are far from completion. Let me first just say that this will be a future pattern and it will be released when it’s ready, but I don’t know when that will be yet. There are a whole lot of steps left to get through before that day. But I couldn’t wait to share a little sneak peak! Maybe that’s a bad idea... but I miss sharing what I’ve been working on! This pattern has been a labor of love for the last year. I actually redrafted it from the first version I made last year (if you scroll back). Every detail has been researched on these overalls. They are based on bib overalls from the 1920s-40’s. And yes that’s a functional button fly! And repro Union Made buttons and braces from @citronjeans (he can’t ship to the US right now because of coronavirus, but hopefully that will change before long🤞🏻)! There’s a little detail that I plan to alter for the final pattern (the center front needs to taper in at the waist a smidge), but otherwise I couldn’t be more happy with how they turned out! So many construction details that had to be thought through, and I’m still figuring out the best way to describe how to do them in the sewing instructions. It’s a process! But I’m very into it (kind of obsessed). Oh and yeah these are unisex! So if you’re a guy who sews, keep an eye out! I got @jrmcclurg to try them on and they fit him (except for needing some extra length in the torso, which is expected). So much for keeping this short and to the point... Today is #NationalFitnessDay which made me reminisce on when (and why!) I started this journey to begin with. . On the left, I was eating exclusively fast food. Yes, I know I look “fine” and I would have agreed with you. But I didn’t *feel* fine. I had really bad digestive + GI issues and felt sluggish non-stop. I thought these things were normal 🤷♀️ until I realized... they’re not. . I started my fitness journey first and foremost to heal my body from the inside, out. Any physical change was just the cherry on top. I won’t say I didn’t care about the physical changes at all, but instead of wanting to be “skinny” I wanted to be STRONG and seeing that strength + all my hard work in the gym (and with my nutrition) come to life via my physical body, was so exciting and empowering!! . I never thought this type of physical change was possible. I chalked up anyone who was fit to their genetics, or to their extreme lifestyle + that they *MUST* have lived in the gym. I didn’t know that while yes, genetics play a part, your daily habits play a larger part. The photo on the right, I was eating 80/20 and working out 4x a week for 1 hr and eventually transitioned to 6x a week for 30 mins (FBG!! 😁) That’s it! . I never thought I could be “that person” who created a lifestyle surrounding fitness. I never wanted to be, honestly. But I needed to change the path my health was heading down, and I eventually fell in love with the journey. I fell in love with feeling actually energized for once!! I fell in love with feeling STRONG. . This is exactly why I created my FBG guides + eventually, the @fitbodyapp. I knew firsthand just how hard it is to get started AND to stay on track. I wanted to be sure that none of you girls ever had to struggle with figuring out what workouts to do or what meals to eat in order to get the most out of your time and effort. . As I’m starting my journey again from scratch, I’m reminded of how hard it is. How discouraging it is to feel so weak. But this journey is largely a mental one, much more than a physical one. “I never talked about my eating disorder because for the longest time it was something I only knew about, It was my little secret which I could hide and control. I also always felt like I was failing at having an eating disorder because I was never ‘thin enough to have one.’ Talk about twisted thinking. Freedom Food gave me Freedom. It told me what foods to buy, what meals I would be eating, when I would be eating them. So it helped to take away the anxiety of “what to eat.” Also, the meals left me feeling full, I actually struggled to eat all the portions. I found it to be less restrictive, no need to count points or calories, just literally follow the meal plan. I was exactly what I needed. I graduated school, and the next week started the FF 2.0 meal plan. Within the first two weeks I had lost 5lbs and felt amazing. Marzec 2019 vs Marzec 2020 • Pierwsze zdjęcie było robione dość dawno wiec przed październikiem 2019, wyglądałam jeszcze gorzej. Wyobraźcie to sobie... Moja przygoda z siłownia zaczęła się już tak naprawdę od dawna ale czy można było to nazwać regularnym chodzeniem? Po treningu zawsze jadłam pączka wiec nie można to było nazwać dążeniem do ładnej sylwetki. Pewnego dnia, po tym jak byłam na każdym kroku wyśmiewana stwierdziłam ze chciałabym wziąć się w garść i zacząć działać! I zaczęło się...💖 w październiku postanowiłam się wybrać do mojego aktualnego trenera który rozpisał mi plan treningowy i dietę. Starałam się z całych sił, dawałam z siebie w wszystko. W ciągu 2 miesięcy udało mi się zrzucić sporo kilo. W październiku ważyłam 59 kilo, w wyniku głodzenia się a tuż po wakacjach 62🥺. W grudniu udało mi się zejść do 52kilo, byłam w szoku! Przecież to 2 miesiące. Mój trener zdziałał cuda i osiągnęłam to dzięki niemu i swojej ciężkiej pracy, motywacji i cierpliwości🥰 uwierzcie mi, ja tez nie miałam żadnej nadzieji, tak jak niektóre z was w tym momencie. POWIEM WAM, każdy może! Jeśli chce❤️ nie można się poddawać i TRZEBA dążyć do celu. Ja tez płakałam całymi dniami przed lustrem użalałam się i przez smutek jadlam niezdrowe rzeczy. Naprawdę, chcieć to móc. Przechodziłam przez trudne chwile ale nigdy się nie poddawałam.💪🏻 dziewczyno jeśli to czytasz uwierz w siebie i wiedz ze możesz osiągnąć co tylko chcesz❤️ chciałabym oznaczyć tu @satinva która jest moim ogromnym wzorem do naśladowania i moim autorytetem. We all start somewhere. - I began my journey coming from a place of depression and anxiety. I thought my happiness could be found in a number on the scale. - I starved myself, I worked out constantly, I lost my period, I had legit panic attacks over food and no matter how low that number on the scale was... I only saw myself as the girl in photo one because I never allowed myself to feel happiness or self worth no matter what goals were being accomplished along the way. - Today I eat more than I have in all those years prior and plot twist, I weigh practically the same between the middle photo and today’s. I workout less and smarter. I enjoy pizza and ice cream on a regular basis but also look forward to fueling my body with fruits and veggies. I move my body because I can, not as a form of punishment. - I never thought I’d be where I am at today. I thought balance was a myth and that I was never going to be able to eat like a “normal person” and always would have to be on a diet. I fully believed I needed to be skinny to be happy. I thought I’d always hate my body. Yet, after many years of hard work and consistency I can, with confidence say I came out the other side. If I can, so can you. - If I could go back and tell myself anything it would be... Eat food. Do less cardio. Go out with friends. Wear what you want. Stop making happiness a destination. Fuel your body to feel good. Stop comparing yourself to others. Live your damn life.
