Here’s a closer look at yesterday’s scrap stair tread jig. I appreciate all the suggestions that came on the post. - To clarify, this was supposed to be a quick and dirty, in the moment solution to help dail the treads in. - The project is for an up coming rental unit so the budget is a but limited. For that reason, there is nothing remarkable about the nosing of the treads. **NOT OUR PHOTO** Weve had this photo sent to us by a few people the past couple of days and also had someone stop by the shop this morning asking if wed make some. Its funny, because someone sent this to Mark the other day also and said we should make these. We were talking about doing a pre-order in November/December (or now lol) for Spring pick up! We would be modifying the Grandpa Adirondack plans we have to make this. So the chairs will be like the adirondack chairs were making right now. Easier to get in and out of. #HANDWERKSGALERIE Von Zeit zu Zeit reicht der Platz auf M. Heinzigs Hobelbank nicht mehr aus, um größere Bretter zuschneiden zu können. Im Internet kursieren Pläne für so genannte split top Sägebänke, mit denen man sowohl auftrennen, als auch ablängen kann. Grundprinzip dabei ist, dass die Höhe der Bank plus Werkstück auf Kniehöhe liegt, um so ohne weitere Hilfsmittel mit dem eigenen Körpergewicht für die Sicherung des Werkstücks zu sorgen. Als Material kamem Bauholz-Bohlen mit 40mm Stärke für Beine und beide Bankflächen, sowie Leimholz für die Längsverstärkungen zum Einsatz. Flächig gehobelt hat er die Bretter mittels Rauhbank, die Verbindungen untereinander wurden als Zapfen- und Schwalbenschwanzverbindungen umgesetzt. Beide Bankflächen hat er einfach verschraubt, um sie zu gegebener Zeit noch gegen besseres Material zu tauschen. Genutztes Werkzeug: Tischkreissäge, Rauhbank, Zapfensäge, Stechbeitel, Akkubohrer, Holzleim, Schleifpapier, Blockhobel. ---------------------------------- #CRAFTSGALLERY Sometimes the space on M. Heinzigs workbench is no longer enoug to cut larger boards. There are plans on the Internet for so-called split top saw benches, which can be used for both ripping and cross-cutting. The basic principle is that the height of the workbench plus the workpiece is at knee height, so that you can use your own body weight to secure the workpiece without any other aids. The material used is construction timber planks with 40mm thickness for legs and both bench surfaces, as well as glued wood for the reinforcements along the length. He planed the boards flat by means of a bench plane, that were connected to each other as tenon and dovetail joints. He simply screwed both bench surfaces together in order to replace them with better material at any time. 🇮🇹 Qualche test per il NIMBLE CARNUFEX😁🤟🏻 Con questa lama ho risolto dei problemi che aveva il Carnufex 1 dovuti allo spessore eccessivo (8,6mm). Potete vedere nelle foto le differenti geometrie a confronto. Il NIMBLE CARNUFEX ha una molatura full flat di più di 7cm con uno spessore di 5,7mm. Ho voluto provare una geometria piuttosto esile improntando la lama sui lavori di taglio, piuttosto che sui lavori di spacco. Pur essendo realizzato in S7, temevo per l’integrità della lama per cui ho ovviato il problema di cippature o pieghe indesiderate facendo un angolo di affilatura di 25º su 0,9mm di spessore. Si sta dimostrando un bel giocattolino, che ve ne pare?😇 🇬🇧 Some tests for NIMBLE CARNUFEX😁🤟🏻 With this blade I solved some problems of 1st CARNUFEX due to the huge thickness (8,6mm). In the photos you can see the different blade geometries. The NIMBLE CARNUFEX has higher than 7cm full flat grind with 5,7mm blade thickness. I wanted to try a rather slander geometry to make it work better in to cutting work than splitting work. The blade is made in S7 steel but I was afraid about its integrity so I decided to prevent unwanted chipping or creasing with a 25º cutting edge on a thickness of 0,9mm.
