I didn’t know it at the time, but this picture would be after my last race of the 2019 summer season. Unfortunately an MRI earlier this week confirmed that I’ve suffered a stress fracture in the heel of my right foot, the “ah that one hurt” after one of the water barriers in my first steeplechase in late May. I went into 2019 fuelled by the fact that I was going to throw myself at some longer distances and was excited to see what I could do. I also knew that there were going to be some risks involved with doing so; a fact which makes this abrupt pill a bit easier to swallow. @heatherhennigar13 and I have decided it’s best for me to pull back, rest, and start a longer build into the fall season, which will set up for me to take a swing at some times to be in the conversation for Tokyo 2020. In the meantime, I’ll be cheering on @viccityelite from the sidelines, as they’re getting right into the thick of the racing season. Heartfelt condolences as well to the Grunewald family for Gabe’s passing earlier this week. I didn’t know Gabe, but her story is one that truly makes everyone appreciate the time we have here, and to be #bravelikegabe. - @robdenault27 on Instagram

My time at UC Irvine is finally coming to an end and I couldn’t be more stoked about it! something I’ve realised recently is that the times I feel physically anxious - that current that bubbles away and tingles up my spine whilst I feel mentally positive - I usually DO know why I feel that way. It just takes a little bit of digging to find out. physical anxiety will never cease to exist if we don’t address the mental thought. the thought that might not seem like it exists because it’s been pushed away time and time again. the thoughts that maybe we once recognised we ‘shouldn’t’ have, so we try to ignore them. letting go, as it turns out, is quite different from suppressing. take time to really ask yourself what’s going on; what’s triggered you? the more you do this - the less anxiety will build up, the less likely you will end up feeling completely overwhelmed or in an anxiety attack. anxiety = avoidance. what are you avoiding? - @alexapolline on Instagram

I know that so many of us are going through a hard time we are not talking to hardly anyone about. Maybe your feeling disadvantaged by public systems. Maybe you are heartbroken or both. Maybe a pothole ate your tire, traffic made you late to work, or your heart is heavy from watching injustice after injustice occurs to people you love and the planet. Whatever planets are squaring your moon; do us a favor ok? Make sure in all the self-love and self-work you’re doing, you make a plan to actively participate in your community. What we give to, gives back to us. If you’re privileged to be a voter. Are you registered? Are you getting a mail-in ballot? Are you planning on going to the polls? What resources can you use to spend some time learning about the candidates for local positions? This a community service that will serve you when you engage your voice beyond your social circle. Ps. If you are fighting with friends slow down to meet them with love and talk policy, not politics. Oh and listen deeply without just waiting to respond. This is just one opportunity out of about a million things that you can do but it is a powerful one.
