My Phat Ass... lol just kidding I’d like to introduce forever inspiring and knowledge dropping @kerbito of @pyermoss who is so grounded, so strong, and made me feel loved and seen throughout this process. The thing that’s crazy about this show is my goal is to give these beautiful expressions of love and gratitude to my guest, however so often they are giving me a gift without knowing it. If I am completely honest I am never fully myself or comfortable around straight black men as I often feel less than or very judged for being gay and in my past black men have made me feel the most insecure, however Kerby was open and welcomed the process with open arms! There were a few moments when we were just hanging out in the green room (which is never green btw) and I wanted to just burst into tears because I felt fully excepted for who I was and I was seen as a peer, i could just be myself (even tho in the group photo with Kerby and my sister i did try to butch it up a bit... lol)! May not seem like that big of a deal but it really was to me allowing space for me to do what i do best without feeling self conscious. This was the last episode that we shot and it really felt like the crew and team were in the zone and had finally found our groove and just like that it was over. I mean my sister @jazziepleaze and I performed for Kerby trying to get a spot in the choir... my new born niece was on set and started crying so that should tell you how that went... This arrangement was 12ft tall, I mean out of control. The interview was fire, it just all felt like Stella finally found her groove. I am so grateful that I had the privilege to create something that felt true to my expression and how I want to see creativity portrayed in the public eye and I got to do this as a proud Black Gay Man!!! #livingmybestlife #blackboymagic #naturalopulence - @bloomandplume on Instagram

We all deserve it. ✨🥦🥕🍓🍉🍌🍏🍊🥖🥗🍷✨ Here are 3 reminders to keep in mind when you’re struggling to put together a good meal: Sometimes meal prep really is *that gurl* •Having items prepared in advance that you can turn to after a long day of work, during a difficult mental health period, or when you simply don’t feel like cooking is something future you will absolutely be thankful for. Get into your local farmer’s market •It’s an opportunity to support local farmers and have access to fresh, locally grown foods. Plus you get to see what’s at the peak of season in your region. It’s OK if you’re not a top chef every day •For some, not making everything from scratch and turning to canned/frozen or pre-made items can feel disappointing. While it is a great feeling to prepare a satisfying meal on your own and know exactly what went into it, that isn’t an easy feat for every person, and certainly not every day. Go easy on yourself, dabble, and find a comfortable balance between the things you enjoy eating and what you have the capacity to actually do in the kitchen at this stage in your life. This post is full of love and gratitude 💛 On Tuesday, I hosted my first social distance event to celebrate my birthday with closevfriends and treat them to an advance screening of @antebellumfilm (thank you @lionsgate). When I was asked to host this, I was skeptical at first but after watching the film, I was so dang proud of @janellemonae in her first lead role that I wanted to make it a special event and bring some of my favorite people together to watch and discuss the film. We also got a special treat and surprise visit from the actual filmmakers who stopped by to personally speak to us about the inception of and thought behind the movie. Thank you @gerardbush and @christopherrenz! I also want to re thank all of my amazing friends that came out (some for the first time since quarantined) just because of the love they have for me (don’t worry, we were super safe and very responsible). Harm doesn’t always hurt. Healing doesn’t always feel good. • Harm, for me is simply what undermines healing. Healing is the process by which we become fully capable of expressing our agency. Healing moves us towards wholeness. • Harm might be enabling our bad habits, inhibiting our expression of agency, could be obstruction of our expression. Harm can be comfortable, pleasant in the moment, it doesn’t always hurt, per say, sometimes the healing hurts more. • A physical metaphor; a dislocated joint hurts coming out, but it often hurts more going back in. It requires force and sometimes, dare-I-say violence of a kind (not sure violence requires intention to harm) to get the joint back in place. So to get on the course for healing force and pain come with it. • I’m only beginning to make sense of my own relationship to hurt, harm, and healing, let alone understand how those I care about relate to these experiences. I’m not finding much objectivity in these spaces and frankly, I can’t always tell the difference myself. Reaching for my own clarity at least gives me an anchor for dialogue about it. Something of which I’ve been searching for a long time, personally, this project helped to put into perspective that there are so many experiences that connect us to one another. Cultural and spiritual levels. Our upbringings and traditions, struggles, triumph, resiliency, faith in God. We are all connected at the roots, which alone provides a place and someone to belong to! . Through creating this project it was evident that we’re never really alone. We are the suns of the earth. We are where greatness is birthed and we have everything within us to overcome obstacles through unity. One of my major objectives in the work is to reflect humanity as I see or want to see it and exploring that with the team in which I’m creating! . I felt an overwhelming calm and ease, particularly during the Baptism phase which felt appropriate! We’d been shooting for a while under the sun and it felt like we’d used so much of our energy “in the beginning” and through “power and war”. It was refreshing to have a moment where we could altogether have a moment of gratitude, serenity and peace! ✨🖤I decided to collage a few looks and pieces from “Black is King” by various African designers and artists across the world. I was pleasantly surprised by my emotional response to the film. I guess this highlights how rarely African culture is projected unto a global pedestal unto mainstream platforms.✨🖤 The work is visceral to say the least. @zerinaakers the lead stylist and costume designer sourced pieces from all over the continent and its diaspora. Jewellery from Tanzanian born gallery owner and designer, Twiga Mbunda. Custom print pieces from Senegalese designers @tongorostudio and @adamaparis, South Africa’s @rich_mnisi , Swedish-Eritrean Designer @zelamfezzahaye , the stunning shell pieces by Ivorian designer @lafalaisedionn , and the bodysuit by @lozamaleombho .
