When I envisioned this body of work living on billboards I never intended for them to have the “PAID FOR BY SAVEARTSPACE” on them and neither did SaveArtSpace. The various companies that own these ad spaces demanded that these billboards have that on there so their name isn’t attached to the message. The LAMAR chapter in Nashville, Tennessee asked that watermark be even larger despite explaining that their colleagues had approved a smaller (& far more tasteful) version. Having your vision altered because of someone else’s fear of backlash sadly isn’t surprising. I want to acknowledge that we have all collectively felt a lot this week, this year and possibly for majority of our existence. ⠀ ⠀ To state the obvious: love on people, life is short, take care of your health etc...⠀ ⠀ What hasn’t been easy is confronting myself.⠀ ⠀ Esther Hicks says:⠀ ⠀ Knowing what you don’t want, is a good thing if it is brief. But then explaining how much you don’t want it, and how much you don’t deserve it, and how much others seem to be doing it to you deliberately, is not helpful. It keeps you in a holding pattern of what IS.⠀ ⠀ How we feel is what we offer and what we offer is what we get. ⠀ ⠀ It doesn’t matter what you say with your words. How you feel is a true indicator of what you are offering vibrationally.⠀ ⠀ All of that to say, Chadwick and many of the other superheroes of our lifetime who have passed, offered us something everlasting and beautiful in their passing. In order to facilitate social distancing and open ‘The St. Pete Way’, reservations are required to visit the St Pete Pier during its opening week. Tickets will be issued for Monday, July 6 at 5:00 PM through Sunday, July 12 at 8:00 PM. To reserve tickets, individuals are asked to visit the City of St. Petersburg Pier website at StPetePier.org , navigate to the events page, and follow the directions listed. There, individuals will be asked to select the day and time they would like to have their exPIERience. Reservations are necessary for all who wish to visit the new St Pete Pier during the grand opening week. Starting on Tuesday, July 7th, parking will be available at the Dolphin and Pelican parking lots until full, with overflow parking at the Sundial Garage. Parking can be paid at any of the 13 “Pay Stations” located throughout the parking lots for $2/hr for the first 4 hours and then a graduated rate for the next 2 hours. There is a 6-hour max parking available in the lots. Credit cards, cash and the ParkMobile platform can be used to pay for parking. An update from El Club: 2020 has been the SHIT SHOW that nobody wanted to attend. Unfortunately we’ve been forced to. The last 6 months have been a wild ride between the current pandemic and world affairs in general — it’s all been overwhelming and heavy on the spirit. Typically during dark times, we turn to music (and especially live music) as a form of therapy. Sadly even that has been taken from us. But no more sad than the 200,000+ lives that have been taken as well. At the end of the day, music is necessary and essential for our mental health. With that said, this year has been extremely hard on all of us. We know it’s been hard on you too. We’ll keep looking towards any glimmer of hope during these uncertain and trying times — and we promise to be back once it feels safe and responsible to open again. If you really miss us so much, we’re proud to partner with Artists United For Change / @voicesofmichigan and will have our doors open as a place you can register to VOTE next Saturday and Sunday from noon–3pm. We will have strict measures in place for safety. We’ll also have some free #VOTETHEMOUT posters from artists like @obeygiant, @nekishadurrett, @rob_sheridan, @swoon and more for those who register. Hey guys, I hope you are all well & finding peace, as much as possible, in your daily lives. Poppin in here for a quick beat to share some news. A couple of cool things happened this week which seem worthy of sharing. 1. A film I Costume Designed last year called @thelovebirdsmovie, which was supposed to premier at SXSW & then hit theaters took a different route for obvious reasons & hit @netflix instead on Friday. My guy & I had a little premier party on the couch. It was perfect. I’m really proud of what my incredible dream team & I accomplished. Thank you to my badass costume crew! Seriously each of you are a blessing! Thanks to @issarae & @kumailn for being so wonderful to work with! To #MichaelShowalter our director for being a fantastic collaborator & for trusting me as a designer! Thank you to our amazing producers! I am proud to be a part of a film with two brilliant, funny & genuine people of color as leads navigating the tricky dynamics of a long term relationship. This feels like a win! 2. My @kingesterseries family celebrated FOUR Daytime Emmy Nominations in a digital series! I’m so proud of you all! We bust our butts & it paid off! Another Win! Well, that’s all for now folks. This is by far my proudest moment working at @zmbzagency. I had the honor of producing this message that can now be seen on 58 boards in 11 major markets now live in Los Angeles, Oakland, Sacramento, Baltimore, Orlando, Phoenix, New York, Miami, Austin, Philadelphia, and Charlotte. • What started off as a company wide social media post turned into a powerful message seen all over the nation! What made this even more special was the team of beautiful souls that volunteered their time and resources to make this message come to life. • I remember the company town hall when I got emotional asking everyone take action and post this on their IG. Not only did they post it, they treated this message as if it was more important than the other projects we were working on. Like most ad agencies @zmbzagency still has a long way to go when it come to diversity and inclusion, but we are taking steps in the right direction. THIS IS PROGRESS.
