Today I picked up a pen and began to work on the children’s books I said I never had time to finish 🖤 Doug taught me to love. Not just others but myself....he gave me a place to call home even when we didn’t have one and he gave me a reason to smile when things felt like they were falling apart. He taught me that no matter who brings you down - every day is new and worth living! Next season I won’t have my show buddy. I’ll always cherish how He would dig a hole and wait for me by the stall until we returned from the ring! Even the worst days would turn around with a simple tail wag from him when we turned the corner to the stall ❤️ He was my biggest fan and my best friend when I felt like mine fell short. There was a time I couldn’t afford to have a groom and if I had to clean my own stall I was told by the trainer I’d have to move my horse to a row of stalls far from theirs in result. Instead of feeling inadequate or excluded I didn’t care. I had doug and we were a team 🖤 Doug didn’t care about what ribbons we brought back. And, when I started my business - he was there! He traveled snow to show...He didn’t care if we stayed in a shitty hotel or slept in our car 🖤 he was with me through it all....he was always waiting and being my number one fan regardless of the outcome. Fans from his page would track us down to meet him! He’d play with every dog on the show grounds gently and everyone around us at every show adored him. He gave me the confidence to believe in myself without words....his presence was empowering and everyone in his path agrees they are a better person from an encounter with his true love for life and unconditional friendship to all 🖤 Finishing his stories and publishing them will be for him 🖤 my eyes took pictures his whole life and I’m so thankful I was that weird pet owner and made him his instagram page. I plan to get Dougie tattooed on me soon.....he use to go with me to my appointments at @noahminuskin and @samdusenberry ....my sweet patient boy! We would like to believe that everyone in rescue is in it for the right reasons and that they come from a pure place in their advocacy. We are here because we chose to immerse ourselves in the horrific realities that many dogs find themselves in. In shelters, on the streets and in homes/yards. Our approach to rescue is simple... Be transparent. Do exceptional work. Do everything in our power to show up when we are aware of an animal in need. Without expectations. Without an agenda. From a place of pure selflessness. The same standards we hold ourselves to in LIFE. With all humans. . Sadly those are not the same standards that others hold themselves to. We would still like to believe that it is a lack of awareness that is causing the events of the past few days but that doesn’t excuse them. We have a responsibility in rescue to protect those who cannot protect themselves. And I believe in collaboration with other like-minded individuals. The more we work together, the more animals we save. . This past Saturday we were tagged on a post about a dog found under a car in very bad shape physically. Someone was able to get her in an enclosed area and she picked her up then asked if any rescues could help as they had nowhere to take her. We reached out and told her she could bring her to us, that we would create a safe space for her and take care of her until we could get her to the vet first thing in the morning. . The photos speak for themselves but this senior gal: Had over 30 scars and a few fresh wounds on her face, 2 ulcerated masses on her abdomen that were actively bleeding, an old metal suture in her belly, difficulty breathing, dirt and dried blood all over her body and difficult walking, standing and sitting. She was clearly in a lot of pain. We took her to the vet in the morning and they gave her 3 types of medications in order to start to get her comfortable and help bring some of the inflammation down in her body. They recommended surgery ASAP for the ulcerated masses that had gone un-treated and to remove the old metal suture fused to her skin. **Continue in comments... - @for_pono on Instagram

Meet Atticus! He came to see Dr Cambridge for a mass on his spleen and mild hemoabdomen (blood in his abdomen). His spleen was successfully removed with only one night of hospitalization required. His owner made the lovely collage pictured in the next slide of his time at Veterinary Surgical Specialists. It’s been exactly 8 weeks since @kira.e.harris and I decided to get out of NYC until things started getting better. It’s now the beginning of the summer season, the beaches are back open, Delaware is in Phase One of reopening, and it’s time for us to say goodbye. Dann kam mir das sie wohl die Kamera anbellt auf der Kommode die Nachts blinkt ——- und da war sie die Erinnerung an die letzten Welpenstunde ( der Hund eines anderen Teilnehmers bellte wie verrückt , weil hinter dem Zaun einiges passierte ( andere Menschen in Bewegung und Hunde) nach einiger Zeit gab die wohl beste Hundetrainerin @sassy_and_her_rotti @ramonahouscht @martin_ruetter_dogs den Tipp das Herrchen solle sich mal groß machen ohne seinen Hund an den Zaun laufen sich das anschauen und Wortlos und ohne seinen Hund anschauen zurück kommen und Tattatata da war er Magic Moment alla Saskia der Hund war still !!!! Und konnte entspannen , dass Herrchen hat die Situation geklärt . Somit ich aufgestanden Licht, an den Raum Kontrolliert, Licht aus , hingelegt und Ruhe war . Und ich habe mich gefreut wie ein Kecks für diesen Moment. Yesterday was bit stressful but I couldn’t be more thankful for all the love. ❤️🙏🐾 At 12 years young, my bestest boy Fenway had surgery for some mast cell removals. This was the first time I wouldn’t be there as he woke up, but I couldn’t have been for grateful for Dr Hillard and the amazing staff at the Dog Cat and Bird Clinic of Nutley. Introducing sweet baby Dwayne!! This handsome guy was taken to our vet by his owner to be euthanized.. the reason? BOTH OF HIS BACK LEGS WERE BROKEN.. The vet offered to find rescue for him, but the owner was adamant that they wanted him to be euthanized.. Well, we had other plans. As soon as the clinic contacted us about this big lug, we knew we had to help! The story given was that he had been hit by a car and that’s why his legs are broken. However, he has no road rash or other injuries.. we suspect we have not been given the true story about what happened to Dwayne. What we do know is that he is AMAZING!! Despite all the pain this boy has endured, he is so sweet and affectionate. He is so well behaved that the team at Paws & Claws Animal Clinic lets him hang out in the middle of the clinic and watch what’s going on around him. He was hanging out with us when we delivered Bagel’s babies! Dwayne has a long road of recovery ahead of him, but we know he will be feeling better soon! Dr. Sauer was able to perform successful surgeries on both legs to place pins and plates. The total cost is close to $5,000. He is well worth it, but we do need some financial help! My Taurus is showing ♉️🤬🤣 I had *just* sat down to *finally* do some journaling after spending allll morning taking care of baby, and through that, my husband to have his own time 🚿 And I don’t know if you can relate, but it was like just as I finished squaring off my pencil on the table to start my epic me time, I see to the left the first small drop of rain. 💧 That then turned into 3. Then 6. Then 22. But I had an idea! I would just weather it out- I’m committed, right? Universe, I SHALL have my ME time! 🔥 And so that’s when Michael caught this pic. Sippin my espresso like nothin’s going wrong! Anyway, I’m typing this upstairs in my angel room now, bc even tho it stopped for a second it came down even harder 5 minutes after that 😋 and still is raining now that I can hear from my windowsill. ❇️ My Taurus Life lessons ❇️ 1️⃣ You can still create what you want, but the timing and location and expectation might need to change. (That’s ok. You still sticking to it (even if it needs to change form) is where the true commitment healthfully lies 😂) 2️⃣ Respect Mother Nature. She might wink and think you’re cute, but she will have her way. 3️⃣ Pat attention to inspired pockets of time. Meaning, I was feeling even more stubborn because in truth I had an opportunity to go outside and chill earlier, in the sun and while I (bam!) had the idea and inclination to do it. But I ignored it, pivoting to the smart, controlled (?) option of taking a shower to Then have all the cards aligned outside. Not so. Universe had her way, even though I wanted the timing to be different in my mind. She’s bigger than us, and this last lesson can be applied to pockets of time in minutes, or opportunities we have that span years. Respect Her in time and space by following these inclinations when you have them, and Life will respect your back. She’s trying to lead and help you! IE, me 😊 What are your life lessons today? Dog is my Copilot.... Today Cinderella was our Copilot. She has been part of our family for almost 5 years, rescued from MDAS, we fostered her, and foster failed. We fell in love with her then, and she has been with us ever since. Today she was our Copilot one last time as we lovingly and peacefully said our goodbyes and let her be at the peace that she so fully deserved. We are so deeply saddened but also so very grateful that in all of time, and all the universe, we got to be here at the same time and place, and got to share in her amazing life. We are excited to finally be able to talk about this sweet potato, Rambo! A couple of weeks ago we got a call regarding a dog that was taken out of a car and dumped all alone. He was roaming the neighbourhood for a couple of days. A good samaritan took him in and took care of him until our team got there. He wasn’t in the best shape and we thought he had hearing problems, it was clear he needed to get to a vet. We took him in, microchipped him as he didn’t have one and got him the full works done. He wasn’t going deaf, his ears were just so infected and had so much build up he couldn’t hear properly. We got him treated for all he needed and he’s now in way better health! The plot twist in all of this is his « owner » showed up wanting Rambo back. It was a very clear case of neglect and if anyone knows Kim and Yossi, know there was no way we were going to give him back. Kim built a file and worked with authorities and its official now he is a RAD dog. He’s the sweetest boy, loves all humans, Kids, good with cats, but he hates to run. Lol. This dog is super mellow and has so much love to give. He’s 8 years old. He will be up for adoption soon! Rambo we love you and promise to keep you safe for the rest of your days! As much as I saved him from an abussive home, from people who kept him in a small kennel, fed him 1 cup of food a day (his weight requires 8cups/day), had skin conditions that gave him balding spots... I know that we found each other and in many ways he saved me too. After loosing Maximus I was shattered in a way I still can’t fully describe, and when I found Ares my world felt complete again. He brought back so much of Maximus and more. And I don’t care how big he is I will always let him curl up in my lap and get all the loves that he wants.
