It’s easy to snap and yell at our kids when they do something wrong. But is it truly effective? Yes, they might stop what they’re doing. Yes, they might comply but is it because they understand or because they’re scared? Most of the time when you snap and yell they comply out of fear. And they feel bad. Really bad. Think about your own childhood and how you felt when someone mistreated you. If you yell, they’ll probably stop doing whatever they were doing but do you want to raise a child who complies out of fear or because they think they might not be loved? If you think about it, it makes sense. How would you respond if someone yells and makes you feel bad every time you do something they don’t agree with? Imagine your boss was like this. You’d probably quit after a while. So, when responding to your children remember this. Think about how it would make you feel if you were your own parent. Would you like to be treated the way you treat your children? Ideally your answer to this question is YES (for the most part). Come from a place of love, be gentle, and your children will actually respond better, they will want to cooperate and they will behave better. 💜 So, friend, let’s do this! TAG SOMEONE Have you felt like this? You want closure, you want them to admit they were wrong, you want them to beg? I totally understand where youre coming from. Ive been there too BUT I learned when to stop victimizing myself by holding onto all that sadness and anger. I learned a hard lesson. I found peace of mind within me by accepting things for what they were and letting go of the desire of wanting him to admit he had done me wrong. I stopped looking for that admission of guilt. By doing so, I stopped giving him my power. I stopped focusing my energy on him, and was able to focus that energy on healing myself. Continued from my post on @hdfmagazine - I think we need to look at why people are afraid to go in on who they really are. ➠ TRUST - is it trust? Trusting yourself to know you’ll figure it out one way or another, even if it means examining your wins and losses of your past. ➠ HONESTY - is it honesty? Are you afraid to say what you really think and feel? If so, what about your environment has made it unsafe to be that way? And I get it cause we live amongst irony in that honesty is pushed everywhere from religion and family to corporations and society, but are those very same sources practicing what they preach? ➠ FEAR - is it fear? What exactly are you afraid of and have you even thought about the source of “fear”. If the future hasn’t happened yet, then fear is based on some sort of belief you have from the past and even that past experience was a moment in time teaching you something and not meant to keep you permanently in it so I ask, what is it you fear? Look, I don’t have all the answers and a million people online will tell you they do, but I know this. The more we become honest with ourselves, the more we understand the choices we make, the people we’re around, the words we use and why, the boundaries we need and our next steps to take. We certainly don’t need to complicate everything with “but, what if...” and “what will they...” and “I’m not sure if...” - It’s not real. Life is only about taking the next step, trusting the process and taking in what you learn from that step. Wasting your time on what will or won’t happen or who will think of it is just that, a waste of time. And you don’t know how much of it you have left. I’m not asking you to swing so far to the other side where you tell everyone to fuck off and that you’re claiming your power back. I’m asking you to find the humility to be honest with yourself and honest in your conversations and dealings with others. Hello! I had a few days off Insta recently and put my Etsy on holiday last week until October. I’d been feeling somewhat overwhelmed and stressed and anxious and needed to take a step back from a few things.
