At both of our salons weve installed the same UV-C LIGHT technology used in the top surgical and medical facilities. A recent study at Columbia University found that continuous airborne disinfection with UV-C light could greatly reduce the level of airborne virus in indoor environments occupied by people. The study also found that UV-C light was 99.99% effective at eliminating airborne Coronavirus. Weve installed plexi-glass partitions between our stations and in the shampoo area designed to keep each client and our staff socially distanced throughout your service. BIG NEWS: First off, sadly, @bombshell101salon is having to close its doors for good. 😢 I loved my time there, even though it was short and sweet. With that being said, it’s on to new things! Covid has brought a lot of change and I’m ready to face it head on! My dear friend and mentor @jennastylesofficial is opening up a brand new salon in January (21 chairs with a cafe inside 😍). I have decided to partner with her and be in the beginning stages of this new salon opening!!! In the meantime, I will be renting a space from her in her studio suite! For the first 3 years of my career @saramay_level10 I used a blow dryer from Walmart. it was all I could afford and got the job done. I remember styling hair next to my peers embarrassed when I had to pull out my blow dryer because it wasn’t up to speed ( literally so slow 😩) and wasn’t a professional ranked product . I even took this dryer to NYFW ( talk about mortifying ) . I survived and made it work but my confidence took a toll. It’s kinda like suiting up for work . When you are dressed your best , you feel your best and you perform to a higher standard. The same with the tools we use as artists . I remember getting my first @dyson and my peer next to me feeling the exact same way as I did. Even more mortifying her client was like “omg can I touch it can we use it” of course they could use it ! That was 2 years ago and I remember thinking to myself. “If I can help it I will NEVER allow this to happen again “ Today is like Christmas morning @level10salon and let me tell you these girls worked for it! Open for 5 weeks . Over 300 clients seen. NOT ONE Covid case reported. #saveoursalons Our industry has not had any outbreaks likely because of the rigid protocols we follow. We can continue to get Botox, grocery shop, go to target, furniture shop, take a trip, go to the park, go to the zoo - practically anything but work because getting your hair done in the salon is too unsafe? We’ve complied and worked hard behind the scenes. We took so much pride when our clients came in and told us how safe they felt in our salon while building their confidence again. It was done with great love & joy because we knew our clients needed it as much as we did. We’ve got creative on how we are going to pay for business expenses as well as supporting our families. It was announced yesterday that hair salons will be part of second phase in the reopening plan. Although details are vague, we are encouraged and excited about today’s development, however the actual reopening date is not yet been announced as we are waiting for more info from WorkSafe BC. When this announcement happened, we as an industry had more questions than answers, but we are all working together to find the best way to work the “New Normal” so we can all get back to what we love doing most. We at Headspace are making use of this time to ensure the salon space will feel safe and as comfortable as we can for everyone. There are certain changes that are in process but it is a work in progress to make this a smooth transition to our new normal. There will be changes in the physical layout of the salon, a new schedule for your favorite stylist, staggering appointments, needing to have PPE for the stylist (which is hard to come by these days), requirements that need to be put in place inside and outside the salon. Please email us at info@theheadspace.com to reserve your spot on the list of appointments waiting to be booked in if you haven’t already done so. At the end of the day, there is still a lot to do and figure out as we wait for the guidelines to come out. THE SALON WILL BE OPEN AGAIN, this I can promise you! The big question is when as there was no official date set for re-opening following the announcement. All I ask is for patience for a little bit longer. So its been 5 years since Kings launched as company, What a journey it has been just going from strength to strength, making my visions into reality. Its mental how far kings have come, I can remember when it was just me sat in this room thinking Ive made it, Ive finally got my own shop, so you can imagine how proud I am now with two shops, and a potential 3rd in the pipeline. I never had anything handed to me, I didnt have a start up grant from anyone, I never had a mentor, what I have today is all off my own back which makes it all that bit more special! I get goose bumps thinking about it all , it has been an epic journey and the best thing is Im no where near done! Just imagine what we are going to achieve in another 5 years! You can only build a brand and a fun work space from loyalty, Ive had this since the start and Im very lucky to now have a team of 6 strong, some who have been with me since the very beginning , I couldnt ask for a better team.
