// A Dedication to my Squad // (and all the fun we had!) • Dear Squad, (or should I say the embarrassing name Damned Maiden Squad?) XD It had been two years since we sat on the last bench together. Too long, if you ask me. Too long that we hummed in our own world, while the Biology teacher droned upon her speech and explained it, by making unintelligible motions with her long fingernails. Too long that one of us had ogled at a senior, and the others have pushed her to go and talk with them. If you ask me, it had too long since I cried while the Mathematics teacher yelled at me; you, my girls, held me like an anchor on a vast, bleary stretch of blue sea, while others jeered upon me. Too long that one of ours chocolate eating sessions during classes became terribly sloppy, and all our shirts were stained with the gooey mess in very inappropriate places. I know that, it had been too long since we sat and talked about the elite members of our class, with flawless grades and equally questionable characters. Too long since we remixed Tamil and Telugu songs, into Hindi and English ones, all the while looking at the basketball field, with eyes full of dreams, and hearts thumping in anticipation of the upcoming future. But also, it had been too long since the our last official school day, writing in our diaries and shirts, while the insensitive teachers had to intervene and ruin our moment of a lifetime. It had, but been too long to hug you people for the last time, tears staining our white shirts into a light gray momentarily only to part ways and follow our individual life routes. By stealing a moment, let us all laugh together again, like we used to. Let us enroll ourselves into Arts Club again, so that we can goof together and bunk classes by sprawling on the Computer Lab corridor, with limited lighting. Let me sit in that one chair, where I used to sit always in the Library, while you guys jeered on me for the underlying reason. For now, that all of this is unattainable, I know that Id do anything to re-live those day of frisky carelessness. Yours truly, (with all the love possible) Anurakta. Last weekend we took our picnic setup very seriously and decided to bring our favorite teepee tent from @tinylandus to our picnic and introduce the concept of camping to our little one. The story of how we ended up quarantining together👯♀️ . We met during our STCW training in the Isle of Wight back in March. Since, we were both coming from Scotland -T from Glasgow and J from Edinburgh- we guess the crew house thought it was a good idea to make us share a room. And how much this would change everything. . We had the best time with @flyingfish_sail and for two weeks we did everything together. We celebrated Jojo’s birthday, learned how to extinguish a fire, survive in a life raft, how to fold a fitted bed sheet and how to get rid of a red wine stain on a white sweatshirt (don’t even ask how the sweatshirt got stained😅). . We lived in a bubble of excitement dreaming of the new life that we were about to start, but little did we know that outside our bubble the world was collapsing. The UK’s lockdown started the last evening of our course. Jojo’s trip to America in early April was cancelled, Spain had close their borders and going back to Edinburgh wasn’t an option. Hopeless, Taya and her Dad saved the day. We squeezed our suitcases in a two seater Porshe and drove 5 hours from Southampton to Glasgow, thinking we would only be together for a couple more weeks... . ...and here we are now, three months later on our way to Antibes to make the dream come true 🛥 . @taya.morrison @juanaa_10 - @tj.yachties on Instagram

🏊🏼♀️ OPEN WATER SWIMMING🏊🏼♀️ We are so excited to start our open water swimming sessions tomorrow! We run open water swimming sessions weekly, on Tuesday evenings 6-7:30pm, Thursday evenings 6-7:30pm and Saturday mornings 7:30-8:30am! Unfortunately we cannot accept walk in swimmers, all swimmers MUST pre-book with us. Each session is limited to 70 swimmers maximum. Before arriving, swimmers must register with a Nowca safety wristband, these allow us to know who is in the water at any one time. These log-in details are then used in an app called ACTiO, where swimmers can book swims with us. Each swim is £5, bundle deals are also available. When arriving on site we ask, that as much as possible, swimmers come ready to swim due to our limited changing capacity at the moment. This is the view from my grandmas cabin on Lake Bemidji in northern Minnesota. My sister and I spent every summer of our youth here - our parents would ship us north for a month or two, and grandma would pick us up at the bus station and head straight for the lake. This was her favorite place in the world, and is one of mine too. On Tuesday, she left this world, after a beautiful, courageous, and feisty life, and tonight, I’m reminiscing. It’s amazing what a legacy one woman can leave! Not only did my grandma create my mom, who is one of the biggest people I’ve ever met, she also created three other equally impressive humans, six grand children (including my sister and I), and so far 5 great grandchildren children. I’ve lived within 20 miles of my immediate family (including GMa) my whole life. Sometimes this can be tough, but mostly, especially in times like these and the past several months, I feel so, so lucky to have known the woman who created it all, so well. 🙏 I was an egg in my mothers ovaries when she was a fetus in my grandmothers womb! 🤯🤯🤯 And so were you! Try that on for size! So tonight, I’m giving a big shoutout to my grandma, who taught me how to swear, how to paint, how to drive a six-horse alumacraft, and gave me space while I learned what it was to be free. Decisions that later you probably regret because you were too emotional to see the outcome clearly. 𝘿𝙤𝙚𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙝𝙖𝙥𝙥𝙚𝙣 𝙩𝙤 𝙮𝙤𝙪? It used to happen to me too. I would make rash emotional decisions in an attempt to minimize my own distress and anxiety + then regret it... 𝗨𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗹 𝗜 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗮 𝗿𝘂𝗹𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗺𝘆𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 💩𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘀𝗲𝘁 𝗱𝗮𝘆𝘀. (𝘠𝘦𝘴, 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘩𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘦𝘯 𝘵𝘰 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘰𝘧 𝘶𝘴.) 𝘞𝘙𝘐𝘛𝘌 𝘛𝘏𝘐𝘚 𝘋𝘖𝘞𝘕: 𝗡𝗼 𝗯𝗶𝗴 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝗰𝗿𝗮𝗽𝗽𝘆 𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘀𝗲𝘁 𝗱𝗮𝘆𝘀. I have made a commitment with myself to not make big life-or-business changing decisions from a place of low-vibe mindset. When Im feeling anxious, tired, irritable, angry or just plain frustrated...I back away from any decisions for the time-being. 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽𝗲𝗱 𝗺𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗺𝘆 𝗲𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿. Entrepreneurship is a killer roller coaster of emotional highs and lows, and so is motherhood. Combined, it can feel like you are losing your mind every other week. So take some time, take some space and care for yourself on these days. My FY 21 Interior-Environment funding bill, which is up in the House for a vote today, prohibits funds from being used to review or approve the toxic Twin Metals mine plan within the Rainy River Watershed, just footsteps from the Boundary Waters Canoe Area – America’s most visited wilderness. The FY 21 Agriculture-Rural Development-FDA bill, also up today, will require USDA/USFS to release the results of a taxpayer-funded study, halted near its completion, that was meant to determine the environmental impacts of sulfide-ore copper mining on the Rainy River Watershed. Finally, the 1909 Boundary Waters treaty says the U.S. and Canada “shall not pollute” our shared boundary waters. Our FY 21 State and Foreign Operations bill includes funding for the International Joint Commission to monitor/evaluate pollution and ensure the U.S. can uphold our end of the deal. The Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness is too pristine, too wild, too precious to pollute.
