Today I went to London! I went to places that refer to Amy winehouse and the beatles (some of my favourite musicians). So, first of all, I went to Camden where Amy winehouse lived. There are many things in memory of her in Camden. We visited the ‘Amy Winehouse statue’ sculpted by Scott Eaton. It was honestly amazing! We then saw her plaque on the Camden walk of fame which was awarded to her back in March. I also managed to spot little paintings and art pieces around the town. And then, I went to see her house xxx I put a little note amongst others to tribute to her and saying how much I admire her xxx (I did get a bit emotional) but I am happy about how she is always remembered in the hearts of many xxx she was and will always be a true and amazing artist and I will love her forever! I honestly advise going to Camden even if you aren’t an Amy winehouse fan! We couldn’t help but travel back in time when looking at this photo of our Kimpton Clocktower, surrounded by a bygone era✨ Did you know that our building was designed by the famous Alfred Waterhouse and built 1891–1895? Alfred sadly passed away in 1905 and the reigns were handed over to his son Paul to complete - it was him who added the 217ft clocktower in 1910–1912. This stunning building is seeped in Mancunian history - surviving two world wars and standing tall over the city through historical moments including Manchester’s very own Emmeline Pankhurst’s Suffragette movement. Een 14-jarige jongen uit de gemeente Apeldoorn is donderdag overleden na een botsing met een auto in Wenum-Wiesel. Een traumahelikopter kwam ter plaatse om assistentie te verlenen, maar dat was tevergeefs. Het ongeval vond omstreeks 17.15 uur plaats op de Zwolseweg, meldt de politie. De jongen werd geschept toen hij met zijn fiets de weg overstak, waardoor hij op de motorkap en de ruit van de auto terechtkwam. Een traumahelikopter kwam ter plaatse voor assistentie. Terwijl deze onderweg was, probeerde ambulancepersoneel het kind te reanimeren. De reanimatie was nog bezig toen de traumahelikopter landde. We arrived in Prague for the @hostelskills, hostels event that is in its 7th edition. The event is one of the few specialized in this area and promotes industry knowledge, discussions, trends and a lot of networking. The first one to speak was @babetaruns, from @bohemianhostelsprague, inspiring to me, she‘s been in the market for 20 years and spoke with simplicity and charisma about her experience in a market that still has so much to be explored and the role of different types of hostels in providing a unique travel experience. The giants @Hostelworld and @Booking.com shared important data on tourism and hospitality market, pointed to the increase of solo travelers (especially women), changes in travelers priority, they want not only a good place to sleep but also a place that provides interaction, friendships and a unique experience, and there was also a interesting debate about security, hostels there could share some common challenges in that theme. Lior Slepkov of @hostel.consulting and Zoe Barthope of @hosteldoctor brought practical topics on how to bring more accountability to this business and how to reach your goals by planning and executing your marketing plan well. I had a chance to get to know the incredible work of @cloudbeds and @chartok, two technology companies that are standing out in the area with platforms of reservations and task management, which is essential to give scalability to the business and become more professional. It was incredible two days where I felt home. Current Covid-19 guidance means that we need to make some changes to the way the Gallery works over the coming months. We will continue to support artists by displaying work in the Galleries at Stour Space and the Baths. The shows will be able to be seen without a ticket from 8am until 10pm, though we will be restricting the number of people in the galleries during busy times. However we won’t be holding an opening night for the shows, and we will run a limited number of workshops that are often part of the month-long exhibitions. We will continue to promote artists online through our social media and the new YouTube channel Stour Sessions. I AM QUEEN MARY Virgin Islands artist La Vaughn Belle and Danish artist Jeannette Ehlers have teamed up to create a monumental public sculpture entitled I AM QUEEN MARY which was inaugurated on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at the Danish West Indian Warehouse in Copenhagen. This project is the first collaborative sculpture to memorialize Denmark’s colonial impact in the Caribbean and those who fought against it. Timed to be unveiled at the end of the centennial year commemorating the 100th anniversary of Denmark’s sale of the Virgin Islands to the United States in March 1917, this project challenges Denmark’s role in slavery and the commemoration of its colonial past. Civil courage and civil disobedience. There is a limited number of photos from the event. Many did not bring their phones or have them on during the actions. A police spokesperson said: Officers were called to Buckminster Road, Leicester, just before 4.50pm this afternoon (Saturday 26 September) following a report of an assault. A man was taken to hospital with injuries not believed to be life threatening. Three men were arrested on suspicion of violent disorder and affray. It was an incredibly powerful day with love, hope & positivity at the heart of it. We want to thank all the groups from the movement of movements who joined us including XR Samba, @extinctionrebellionfamilies, @londonclimatesave & more! We shut down the facility for over 10 hours by blocking the road outside, therefore not allowing trucks to get in or out to collect the milk. This was a call for the government to help companies such as @arladairyuk to transition our food system to a JUST & SUSTAINABLE plant-based food system.✊🌳 There were also other amazing Animal Rebellion groups around the world doing Arla actions! ARRESTEE UPDATE: 6 people were arrested for blockading and successfully stopping production for over 10 hours at Arla, a major dairy distribution centre just outside of London. Police are responding with repressive bail conditions, banning protestors from London until their hearing in April. 2 people have reluctantly accepted these bail conditions and been released, charged with obstruction of the highway. 2 are refusing to agree to these unfair bail conditions so are still detained. 2 others are being held until Monday, whilst the police figure out what to do with them. This is not the first time they have been arrested for standing up against the animal and climate emergencies. 1 of those detained until Monday are on hunger strike, refusing to cooperate with a system which is driving us to destruction. 2 others are in Highbury Magistrates Court at 9:30am tomorrow, please be there and show your support. Nivea Men, the official men’s grooming partner to Liverpool FC, has unveiled a giant mural in Liverpool city centre to celebrate its long-standing partnership with the team and to congratulate it on its League championship win. Devised by Carat UK and Posterscope together with Mural Republic, the striking mural features a hyper-real recreation of a photo of the players embraced in a hug and is supported by a digital out of home takeover throughout the city. Multiple high impact screens across roadside, rail, POS and shopping malls leading with creative that combines Jürgen Klopp’s famous “Boom” with the Nivea Men logo, and the #sharethecare to encourage sharing on social media. The mural is situated on one of the largest available sites in the UK.
