Epipremnum aureum, “Big P & Little P”⁣ ⁣ I wish I had “before” pics of my 2 golden pothos. When I first brought them home in April, their leaves were barely reaching further than the rim of the nursery pots & definitely were not trailing yet. These were one of my first plants and I had no idea what to do with them. So I went with the basics - indirect sunlight & water when the soil dried. I recently transferred them to leca and so far it has worked out! Now to decide if the vines should trail or climb... or propagate and share?⁣ ⁣ Big P has a large leaf that recently began to yellow. I know I’ve come a long way in my plant journey, because when I saw that leaf I did not panic. I now know that leaves do this. It’s natural. It’s a part of their life cycle. P R U N I N G ✂️ ✂️ ✂️ I was pretty nervous the first time I had to prune some of the herbs I had been growing - mainly because I wasnt sure how soon theyd grow back, or whether theyd grow back at all! But pruning is extremely crucial for the plants general health, so that it can continue to produce quality herbs and really thrive🌿☀️ When pruning herbs such as basil, cilantro, mint and other soft-stemmed herbs, pinch off the stem and leaves from the top, just above the spot where the lower leaves meet the stem🌱 Harvest a little bit each time (never cut more than one-third of the plant), as over-cutting can shock the plant. This is a Portulacaria Afra, or commonly known as Elephant Bush 🐘This succulent is a favorite to elephants and humans alike as elephants graze from their tall branches and humans actually use this plant as an additive to their salads! In 1961 the Irish Ambassador to the U.S. gave President Kennedy a Swedish Ivy plant as a token of affection between the people of our two countries. You have likely seen this plant in the background of many Oval Office pictures (swipe for examples). ⁣ ⁣ Well, the relative of a friend of @lgbgrounded, who worked in the White House, received a cutting from this plant years ago. At some point he gifted a cutting to her and it grew and flourished. And you guessed it. Last week she gave ME a cutting 🥰🌱⁣ ⁣ If you Google it, youll see that the White House occasionally gives cuttings to people who work there, so many generations of this plant are scattered around the country (and maybe the world!). 🌿 Hard to find Giant Anthurium 🌿 ⠀ Anthurium Faustomirandae ⠀ Anthurium Faustomirandae is often sold as the world’s largest Anthurium. But it’s actually the second largest (after Anthurium Regale). A. Faustomirandae is grown for its foliage. Its unique heart-shaped leaves with white veins feel like leather and are quite stiff. One of its unusual aspects of the A. Faustomirandae is its mature leaf texture which is very sturdy, hard and cardboard-like. The leaf is so stiff that it will most likely crack than tear. Another unique aspect is that its new leaves emerge with a red coloration and are glossy; but as the blade matures and hardens, the gloss is lost and the blade surface becomes matte. ⠀ Growers have reported leaves on A. Faustomirandae growing as much as 4 feet in height or even more. This is the Anthurium for the not so very green thumb. It does not require high humidity for it to thrive but it is best to be grown outdoors in areas with bright indirect light or shade. [Jardiner cest bien, récolter cest mieux] Vous suivez mes aventures de jardinière urbaine depuis 2015 😱 et les petites récoltes du soir, bonsoir se suivent sans se ressembler.⠀ 5 tomates cerises et 3 feuilles de basilic, 1 bouquet de feuilles de sauge, 3 framboises. Cest satisfaisant mais ça peut être mieux comme la fois où jai récolté plusieurs kilos de chou kale 🤩!⠀ Les plantes en pots nont pas accès aux mêmes apports en nutriments que des plantes cultivées en pleine terre. Il faut donc leur donner un apport supplémentaire. Cest une chose que je réalise depuis quelques années pour avoir des jolies plantes et de belles récoltes, que vous voyez régulièrement en story. Une fois par saison, puis au moment de la floraison, japporte une dose dengrais naturel à mes plantes sous différentes formes. On pense que les tomates sont les seules plantes du potager à avoir besoin dengrais 😉🌱 ! Alors que toutes les plantes en ont besoin. Les plus chanceux pourront mettre du compost mur. Je nen ai pas toute lannée sous la main, alors la solution alternative reste lengrais. En ce moment cest Ferti-ferti-fertiligène 🎶 et la gamme Performance Organics 🌱 que jutilise pour nourrir mon petit potager. Jen ai mis au pied de deux framboisiers et des basilics. On se donne RDV bientôt pour voir le résultat. Faites défiler toutes les photos pour voir le tuto pas à pas ⏭. ⠀ 🧐 La composition de cette gamme est faite pour offrir des récoltes plus abondantes. Notez bien ça la team pesto car il en faut des feuilles pour remplir tout un bocal 👩‍🍳!⠀ Cest une compo naturelle à base de tourteau végétal et de guano, il faut comprendre derrière ces deux mots : déchets végétaux et excréments marin ♻️, riches en azote.
