Hours of prep work, 1 band rehearsal, 1 dress rehearsal, and then 1 unbelievable night at Carnegie. 6 artists, 185 choir members, 19 songs. 50+ @gospelmusicassoc Dove awards collectively between these amazing artists (but from what I’m finding out, amazing people as well). It was even more special doing it with my bro’s (they worked their butts off), and with all of our spouses in attendance. To top it all off, I played my Fender Strat that my dad gave to me for my high school graduation for some of the show. The whole thing feels like one big massive full circle moment. Several years ago, I was intrigued by the title of a TED talk: “The Art of Asking: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Let People Help.” So I watched the talk. That’s how I was introduced to the work and the creativity and the courage of the musician and performance artist, @amandapalmer. I was blown away by this person—in some ways so different from myself (she lets fans at concerts draw on her naked body; she crowdsurfs and couchsurfs all over the world) yet we are concerned about the same things: connection, authenticity, seeing into the heart of the “other.” After her best-selling memoir (same title as the TED talk) came out, people started asking me if I had read it, if I knew about Amanda, because the book reminded them of my book, Broken Open. Fast-forward a few years, and lo and behold, quite randomly, Amanda and her family moved to my little town in the Hudson Valley. We met, and we became fast friends. I’ve only ever used one guitar for The Wonder Beers – my faithful old Squire Stratocaster. When we started the band in 2012 I had an Ibanez AX – great guitar, just not right for the punk sound we were going for so I started looking for other options. I asked around a bunch of mates if anyone had anything lying around that they weren’t using and didn’t mind me borrowing on a long term basis. Luckily, my mate Pete had the Squire sitting under his bed not doing much. He only used it when he started learning and had since purchased a couple more guitars . He gave me the guitar for free as he didn’t play it anymore and I’ve used it ever since. Everything is stock, and I don’t mind chucking it around because it wouldn’t be too expensive to replace. The strap clip is busted at the back so I tied a knot (mid show) and it’s been like that now for about 3 years. The Squire had been coated in beer, cider, rum, whiskey, mud and has been rained on several times. Somehow, everything still works – the pots are a little crunchy but that’s about it. I’ve always said I’ll get a tele when it breaks… but it hasn’t yet. To Ram Shankar Nikumbh, Edison.. Thomas Alva Edison, frail, frightened and an apprehensive voice gathered some confidence as it left my vocal chords after an overlong period of silence. Those were my earliest words to you. A gentle pat on my back, a cozy caress over my head, perhaps thats all a child yearns for. I havent had the opportunity to know Edison in person, but you have been no less to me - a glowing bulb that dissipated the darkness that engulfed me, at some point in the past. Do you know how many little petals blossomed in that Tulip orchard of yours? Each having a different hue, a different aroma and a unique palpation. If not for you, they would have been crushed by now. You were the Pied Piper who lured children for good. More than any colour, I have had to face red, everywhere in circles, in boxes, in bruises and so on. I barely had those stars or smileys on my sheets. I have spent more time holding my ears in those corridors than scribbling on the first benches. While the children my age moved to a combination of alphabets and digits, yes, algebra, I barely could differentiate between the digit 6 and the letter b. And then walked in, a temporary art teacher who permanently morphed my life. The man who could address the wounds behind my scars, the cause behind my symptoms. You drew a sphere in blue and green, and I got to know that there was land and water, that there was a silver moon and a golden sun. You taught me how the words felt, as you moved your fingers across my callow skin. You laid stairs for me to learn to add values and subtract insecurities from my life. You had a plural existence for me, but a singular essence. The world called me a duffer, dumbo and what not, but you were someone who finally called me a Champ. Maybe my pallate truly deserved the colours you added to my life. As much as the world needs the next Edison, Einstein, Tendulkar, Mangeshkar and so on, it also needs a Ram Shankar Nikumbh. Some have relished the extra time to practise, throwing themselves into making music at home or online. Picture 1: January 2013. This was one of @judahandthelion’s first shows in Nashville. The show was at a @nisoloshoes pop up shop in Hillsboro village and was put on by @larrykloess and @causeascene. I remember that it was rainy and cold that night. I remember how excited the band and myself were that 80+ people showed up to hear their music! I also remember having to skip a business calculus study group because of this show. (Barely passed that class ha). Was extremely proud of the band that night, but could have never imagined what the next 6 years had in store. Picture 2: August 2019. This last Saturday night in Nashville, TN. Judah and the Lion played the best show of their career so far, to a #soldout crowd of 7,000+ people. I remember not being able to stop smiling. I remember turning more comp ticket requests than ever before (sorry y’all. Wasn’t personal. You should know better to hit me day of show for that! 😂) I remember being surround by the best team on earth who also happens to be my best friends and literally like family to me, which is CRAZY. @steelespeakeasy, @samantha797, @clairerex, @chrisfairbank. You guys are my family. My squad. My goofy ass life unit that I love to tell people about, even tho they don’t get our inside jokes. Love each of you so so much! #Repost @easyeyesound ・・・ I’m never gonna forget riding around in the bright, beautiful summer of 2016, me, Fergie, and Mackie loaded into Prine’s Cadillac listening to his cassette tape dub of the Ernie K Doe radio show from New Orleans - R&B, street talk and hillbilly music. It was “Burn K Doe Burn!” as we drove to the White Castle over on Charlotte across the street from Planet Fitness. We ordered just shy of a crave case and we headed back to my house and we wrote 3 songs that afternoon - “Boundless Love”, “Caravan of Fools” and “Waiting on a Song”. John would record two of those for his album, Tree Of Forgiveness, and I’d cut the other one and it would go on to become the title track on my solo album... which also happened to be our first official Easy Eye Sound release. He supported me just like he’d supported so many others over the years. He always left a trail of ecstatic musicians in his wake. He was an inspiration in every way. I’m so thankful now for the times that I had with him... I wish it wasn’t so but I have to say goodbye now. I’m gonna miss old John Prine... I really am. About 4 years ago my dear @julioreyesmusic and I flew to London to live and share one of a kind experience: recording and conducting the London Symphony Orchestra. It was simply surreal to be standing in that podium, in front of such a legendary group of musicians.. That moment changed my life.. I decided to deepen my understanding of the orchestra not only as a composer but as a conductor.. it is what propelled an individual search that brought me to pursue my Doctoral studies in orchestral conducting with the amazing @maestroschwarz at the @frostschoolum. #ThankYouSupernatural When Supernatural first aired, two major events happened in my life, I met my soon to be wife Michelle and I joined Louden Swain. A couple years after joining the band, we began writing and working on new material for our upcoming album “Eskimo”. During one of those writing sessions, Rob came in with the news that he’d been booked on a TV show. That show was (drum roll) Supernatural. Me being familiar with the show, I was pretty stoked for Rob. How rad, right? The band continued to work on the release of that album which lead to playing more & more shows. One day Rob was asked if the band would perform at one of the Supernatural conventions he was appearing at here in LA. When presented to the band, we were all pretty fired up. I mean after all, this was an opportunity to share our music with an amazing audience. Back home Michelle and I were starting a new family of our own, while simultaneously I was being introduced to the SPN Family. My life was expanding at an overwhelming rate. I can’t begin to explain how grateful I am to be where I am today because of this band, this show, this family. It’s had an everlasting impact on my life that is impossible for me to put into words. I’ve traveled to parts of the world I’ve never in a million years thought I’d see. I’ve been able to share the stage with so many amazing, talented people who have become life long friends. And most of all, I’ve met so many amazing people, who are not only fans of the show, but also amazing supporters of the band and our music. [200724] LA CHICA DEL MONO presentà CHANGES al Convent de les Arts d’Alcover Avui, per algun motiu que ara no ve al cas però que ja en tindrem notícies, hem cregut oportú compartir amb vosaltres els comentaris dun dels concerts que hem tingut aquest estiu al Convent de les Arts i que en el seu moment no vam poder compartir. Es tracta del primer concert de @lachicadelmono.music , que tingué lloc al vostre auditori, el passat 24 de juliol. A causa de la pandèmia i, malauradament, a algunes cancel·lacions, aquell vespre el projecte personal de la Txell Mas pujà per primer cop als escenaris davant el públic del territori. Malgrat tot, contents dacollir aquesta presentació, primer concert de molts, nestem segurs! Des del Convent de les Arts ens agrada apostar per les noves propostes que neixen del territori així com comptar, naturalment, amb les més veteranes. La proposta, enèrgica i atrevida de La Chica del Mono es contagia des del primer instant. La música, el que anomenen folk romàntic i intimista, és ben comunicativa i transparent. Lartista cambrilenca té ganes darribar, de fer-se escoltar. Daixecar la veu ben alta i forta. Sobre lescenari, Txell Mas amb un timbre de veu dolç i afable, satreveix amb jocs vocals que ens fan aparèixer el so de la trompeta! Al teclat i veus el Ruben Lorenzo posa el contrapunt a les veus i les guitarres acústiques de la Txell. I a la bateria un equilibrat Gerard Moreso posa el ritme i els matisos expressius quan convé a les parts més melòdiques. La Chica del Mono és un projecte que ha nascut amb una certa consolidació, un saber estar sobre lescenari i una comunicació veterana. Amb la seva barreja de folk amb pop acústic, aconsegueix un producte natural, sense artificis complexos i amb una atmosfera profunda, una barreja dalegria i tranquil·litat. Sentiments i emocions duna artista amb moltes ganes de posar cullerada, de parlar de sentiments amagats i daltres més quotidians. Bir çorba sever olarak gider gitmez önce bir çorba içer, sonra da yemekleri denerim demiştim fakat PAZAR GÜNÜ DİYE KAPALIYDI😭 Aç kalmadık tabii mesut büfenin güzel tostunu yedik. Fakat ertesi gün cundada tıka basa yedikten sonra soluğu tekrar ayvalıkta aldım ve koşa koşa paşa çorbaya gittim. Açık olduğunu görünce yaşadığım mutluluk paha biçilemez ❤️ hemen bir zeytinyağlı ot tabağı söyledik ve o tokluğun üstüne denedik. Hepsini de yedik ❤️ canım sevgilim ekmekle sünnetledi bile :) . En beğendiğimiz lezzet ise dana etli arapsaçı oldu ❤️ Kalbimizi onda bırakıp döndük.
