This is me at my first local Crossfit competition @suffieldfitnessfactory when I was 15. Complete with a moptop, rowing in lifters and the taped hands. I’d been doing CrossFit for 2 months at this point after switching over from powerlifting. There are so many great things coming up as part of this and the first is today. . In case you didnt know - Studio Clown Knowm is an evolving project over the month, that takes a starting point from Andrews work and way of working developed during last year as artist in residence at St Josephs specialist trust, an autism specialist school and college. Watching how Andrew approached his residency, the way he worked with the students, how his own creative practice has developed, and then following that, to see all the energy and thought he has put into this program of stuff - Im just continually proud and inspired! The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (@UAMShealth) hosts a free Move for PD class for people with #Parkinsons. The one-hour classes are held twice a week and incorporate 30 minutes of PWR!Moves® movements to aide in mobility, along with 30 minutes of high-intensity interval training. ⠀ ⠀ Susan, 72, has been living with Parkinson’s for almost seven years. She is a #hospice physician who continues to work part time, so she knows the benefit of regular exercise for everyone. She was already exercising by playing #pickleball several times a week when she started attending the Parkinson’s Wellness Recover (PWR!) Moves® classes at the UAMS Donald W. Reynold’s Institute on Aging Ottenheimer Therapy and Fitness Center in summer 2019. “The exercises in the Parkinsons program were different,” Susan said. “They were things that really were specific to #ParkinsonsDisease. For me, that was mostly balance. #Balance has been something really important for me to work on.”⠀ ⠀ Susan enjoys the social aspect of the classes, which are her main source of interaction with other people with Parkinson’s. She also likes that the instructor and #physicaltherapist provide the rationale behind what the #exercises target and why they work. “I think exercising, now with the help of the PWR! Moves classes, has really helped slow the progression of my disease.”⠀ ⠀ UAMS hopes stories like Susan’s #motivate others with Parkinson’s to join the program. Plans are underway to study the impacts of this #exercise program on individuals with Parkinson’s disease, specifically, how exercise affects physical and cognitive performance. El Primer Grand Prix Promocional de FAM “Desde Casa” es una nueva experiencia deportiva y virtual que invita a que chicos y chicas hasta los 14 años se animen a cumplir desafíos atléticos de resistencia, saltos, lanzamientos, por los que obtendrán puntajes que se le asignarán a cada uno de ellos y a cada club o colegio al que representen (no es requisito estar federado), y que tendrán que hacer en sus hogares, divirtiéndose en familia. Esta iniciativa es traida por el staff de profesores a cargo de los torneos promocionales de la federación y la propuesta está en que cada chico/a realice en su hogar una serie de pruebas atléticas y físicas, valiéndose de la colaboración de algún familiar para diseñar los elementos y marcaciones que requiere cada dinámica y para ser asistido en la toma de tiempos y en la filmación de los siguientes ejercicios: SALTO EN LARGO SIN IMPULSO A DOS PIERNASLANZAMIENTO DE UNA PELOTASALTOS CRUZADOS EN UNA CRUZRESISTENCIA La ejecución de los mismos deberá ser filmada desde algún dispositivo móvil y luego ser enviados por correo electrónico hasta este sábado 29 de agosto a: promosfam@gmail.com Luego se realizará un pequeño compilado que se les compartirá a través del DRIVE del gmail mencionado. Y se le enviarán diplomas de forma virtual a cada participante. Para ello se le solicita a cada profesor o entrenador representante de cada institución que informen -también por correo electrónico- la lista con los nombres y apellido, más la edad y la aclaración si se encuentra federado o no, de cada uno de los chicos y chicas participantes. Una vez que se reúnan todos los contenidos, el staff de profes a cargo de los torneos Promocionales de FAM los observarán y les asignarán una serie de puntajes, que servirán para adjudicárselos a cada club o colegio que intervenga. A partir de esos resultados se armará una tabla general de puntajes que se irán sumando a lo largo de los próximos encuentros.
