1963 Lincoln Continental. On the list of cars Ive found over the last two years, this is the most special one of them. Its first owner Moin Abbasi brought the car to Pakistan in 1999 from LA( swipe to see pictures of it parked there when bought)and saw it only once before it got disappeared for 21 years.My friend from Quetta, who owns a 1964 impala, knew of a Lincoln standing there somewhere and with more information on the car from my friends ,we finally traced it down . Sardar Daud offered the car to me for 1.2millions which I ironically thought to be much money for it at time. Things you’ll learn in this Harlem Renaissance episode: James VanDerZee was the unofficial photographer of the Harlem Renaissance. He began photographing his neighbor of Lenox, Massachusetts as a teenager, after having won an eight-dollar camera. He moved to Harlem in 1906. Initially he came to Harlem pursue a musical career since he was a skilled pianist and professional violinist. He even created and performed with the Harlem Orchestra. But in 1915, he moved to Newark, New Jersey and was employed as a darkroom assistant and photographer. He returned to New York in 1916 and moved to Harlem at the beginning of the Harlem Renaissance. He set up a photo studio called “Guarantee Photo Studio in Harlem” and the rest was history. He produced hundreds of photographs of wedding, funerals, events of the Harlem middle class. Heres an absolute cream puff 1979 Lincoln Continental Mark V. Things weve learned in recent months from posting these battle ships: They were sold as Continental Mark Vs, and the Lincoln badging/branding wasnt added until the mid 80s. The Mark V was STILL build on the older Mark IV platform, and thus different from the smaller Cougar and Thunderbird models offered by Ford. I always thought they all shared the same platform, but they didnt, and we even dug up some original design interviews on it. Hoovie posted a video recently, and brought up a good point on these classic luxury cars. its okay that theyre floaty and boaty. Thats a huge part of the charm of that market segment, and a lot of people love that handling. So when Im going on about wanting a pro-touring or sporty build of these big luxury cruisers, that doesnt mean theres anything wrong with how they are stock. Interesting Classic Mercedes Find Sort of a “barn” find mercedes Ponton w120 180 petrol. Last parked inside a garage roughly in 1960... sees the sun after almost 60 years. Under the caked dust the Ponton has held up its original paint, original seats and dashboard.. everything is as it came new. Still has the old tires and the 6 volt battery with it.
