Hello everyone! Hope you’re having a great summer wherever you are in the world. For obvious reasons things might be a bit different this year. Despite the ongoing situation we are happy to see that some clubs around the globe are opening up again (with limited capacity), that raves and underground parties are popping up here and there, and that there seems to be a burgeoning feeling of positivity in the scene. Even though the crisis is far from over, we feel that we can once again start to dream about life with jammed packed dance floors and all nighters with friends, accompanied by great music. One thing that has kept us from going crazy over the last couple of months is Discogs. If it wasn’t for discogs we don’t know what we would’ve done. The number of hours we’ve spent on there is ridiculous to say the least. Thankfully, all these joyous hours have paid off - especially in the form of a big bunch of under 5 Euro gems. Here’s one of them: Datura Mystic Motion EP (1995) on IRMA Records. This is the Bum Bum Club Instrumental. And there’s more where that came from. Anyway, we just wanted to give you quick update on what’s going on with us. The short version is that we’re looking towards the future with optimism while spending far too much money on Discogs. The last 18 months of my life have been about healing and growth. On March 7 of 2017, I ruptured a disc in my lower back playing soccer. The weeks and months that followed were undoubtedly the hardest of my life. Surgery was too risky. I was given bottles of pills, and told to tough it out. Disc material leaked into my spinal column and I lost all sensation and functionality in my right leg. I crawled around my house for almost two weeks with a 14mm by 10mm displacement in my spine. In the months that followed I lived on the living room floor, for climbing stairs was unbearable. The pain and discomfort I went through is something I cannot describe in words and I truly lost every sense of who I am. What started with me laying on the floor and looking out the window hoping for better days, turned into hobbling outside and throwing a few seeds in the garden. This turned into making short walks in the yard with a watering bucket. As the weeks and months passed, I began to heal, I got stronger, and I put all that I had in me towards growing life out of this awful experience. Before I knew it, I was building planter boxes and bringing life into the garden. I was growing new things as well as refurbishing and taking a new respectful understanding with what was already there. My family has rich roots in farming and my sense of self returned. I am so thankful to be me again. I’m surfing better than ever and I’m about to embark on a trip of a lifetime. I haven’t played soccer yet and it’s been almost 2 years since I have been on a boat, but those things will come with time. I could not be more thankful for this experience and how it forced me to look at life differently. This picture from last summer was the first time I was able to stand up straight and tall in front of my sunflowers with my boys. I can’t say thank you enough to my friends and family who gave love and helped along the way. Každá rada dobrá na konci 🙏💇🏻♀️ Chtěla bych také něco říct nebo v tomto případě napsat. Situace je opravdu těžká pro každého, pro někoho je to čas s rodinou, pro někoho čas pečení chleba nebo zahrádkářství a relax a hodně cvičeni. A tedy hlavně je to o ochraně zdraví. Pro mě je to nejnáročnější období v životě a to musím říct, že jsem toho zvládla hodně. Řešit školu u dvou děti, vařit a sledovat situaci, kde všude žádat a co vše se má vyplnit, co z právního hlediska můžu a nemůžu, jak mám udržet kadeřníky, jak je rozvíjet a motivovat a to i sama sebe v této věci vzdělávat, je prostě na rozkrájení a to v tom nejsem sama. Ale stále věřím, že se jednoho dne zase salon otevře a budeme vítat naše klienty společně s kadeřniky, kterých si tolik vážím . Chybí můj útěk před dětmi do salonu ke klientům , k týmu, k práci kterou tolik miluju . Už se prostě nemůžu dočkat. Děkuji všem co mi pomáhají, děkuji všem co pomáhají v boji s Covidem -19. Na závěr bych chtěla dát tip na mytí vlasů. Pokud máte vlasy bez lesku a objemu, můžete do šamponu přidat trochu jedlé sody, po opláchnutí dáte regeneraci a tu opláchnete jen zlehka. Minimal Wave is honored to present a reissue of Jyl‘s self-titled full-length album from 1984, originally released on Klaus Schulze’s Inteam label. Born and raised in California, Jyl travelled to Europe in her twenties to dance and met several talented and like-minded collaborators along the way. She ended up in Germany, and worked with Ingo Werner, Angela Werner, and Klaus Schulze, on what would become one of the most important and forward thinking electronic albums of the time. Shortly after its release, the song “Computer Love” became a mini-hit along with the album’s opening track “Mechanic Ballerina”. The lyrics of “Silicon Valley” and “Computer Generation” are reflective of the times and have become even more relevant now, 36 years later. The production and song arrangement on the album is immaculate. The synthesizers, drum programming and vocal contributions complement Jyl’s voice perfectly. The album contains an incredible depth beyond a regular dance album likely due to the spirit of the people behind it – the list of contributors add to its significance and near-mythological mystery. After years of searching to no avail, the master tapes were finally located and we were able to remaster them for the best possible audio result. The record is pressed on black 180 gram vinyl and comes housed in a glossy heavyweight sleeve. The sleeve features an updated version of the original artwork, and is accompanied by a 12-page LP sized booklet, featuring large scale portraits of Jyl from the time, an interview (thank you, Anders Larrson @weirdo_music_forever) and all of Jyl’s previously unpublished lyrics. Release date: September 8th, 2020. A Water Album is here today, Juneteenth, on vinyl (at BennyStarrSC.com) and all streaming platforms. It was recorded live at Charleston Music Hall to a packed house.
