19 years ago today, the world changed. I was 11 and I couldnt understand how someone could harbor so much hate for an entire nation and culture on the other side of the planet. Over these long years of war, one fueled by blood and treasure, my perspective has changed. I see more clearly the gaping maw of endless war and the profiteers that line their pockets as young men and women die on foreign soil, hunting for American ideals of freedom, courage, patriotism, and honor. “The war on terror” could our objectives be any more vague? Are we winning? Is there less terror in the world? What freedoms have we collectively sacrificed in the name of security? Will we ever get to travel with our shoes on again?? Those that have served in these last 2 decades will hold a special place in history. We are the bulwark separating two distinct eras - pre and post 9/11. We are the vanguard that preserves the memory of life before war, and the horrors of war itself. We are like the ww2 generation; Living relics of stories in the history books. Children will learn of this war from the pages of a text book. They will learn of dates, places, and generals that speak in staccato sentences, about troop movements, and casualties, but they will eventually forget the personal significance of such events. In the same way the Peloponnesian war has dissolved into an amalgam of facts and figures, The War on Terror will also become history written by the winners, crooks, and academics. Were pleased to announce our selection by the @fbi to assist with their Critical Incident Response Group (CIRG) program. Oak Grove will provide pilots for the UH-60 aircraft fleet and will be responsible for the management and operations to ensure the program’s success. CIRG’s primary focus involves responding to critical incidents regarding counter terrorism and preventing weapons of mass destruction #wmd. FBI has an aviation division to support these missions with a fleet of fixed and rotary-wing aircraft, including the Sikorsky UH-60M #blackhawk aircraft. The pilots are required to adhere to strict rotation to be able to provide 24 hours, 7 days/week, and 365 day-per-year response capability. Were honored to be selected by the FBI to provide this important role. These pilots are the best of the best, and it’s critical to manage all the details from their required training hours to their assigned missions. Under the CIRG program, pilots are required to be available to depart almost immediately once notified. Along with preventing WMD activity, they’re often flying into harm’s way to perform inserts and/or extractions in potentially contaminated areas, formation flights, and support MEDEVAC emergencies. #ourservicecontinues - @oakgrovetechnologies on Instagram

Canada’s military efforts in Afghanistan involved many different kinds of vehicles and equipment, including the Leopard 2 tank. These heavily armoured main battle tanks are a mainstay in the ground forces of several NATO countries. It has a crew of four and is a massive vehicle. The tank is almost ten metres long, four meters wide and three metres tall, weighs more than 55,000 kilograms and can travel at speeds of up to 68 kilometres per hour. - This contraption is the chassis of a Cold War-era BMP-1 armored personnel carrier, with it’s turret removed and replaced with a platform for a WWII-era ZiS-3 gun taken off it’s carriage. Bizarre set-ups like this were not uncommon in the Taliban’s arsenal during the late 1990s Afghanistan.
