. . Another stage of Nauka module preparations to launch to the ISS commenced at Baikonur. Our specialists performed a whole number of works. 🚂 The railcar was prepared for module unloading, after that the specialists transferred the module to the hauling unit and moved it to the processing location, 🏗 installed it into the retaining rings and opened the active hybrid docking unit hatch. 🛠 Following that, technological and micrometeorite protection was installed, cleanliness chamber docked, as well as television camera block mounted. 🔧 The connectors were docked to the docking unit, also the specialists installed the equipment to place scientific devices. Russian space industry hasn’t carried out such large-scale projects for a long time, meaning every new day sets new complex tasks for the specialists. #роскосмос #roscosmos #roscosmosofficial #МКС #ISS #Наука #Nauka #космос #space - @roscosmosofficial on Instagram

- Perseverance next to its Mars rover ancestors.

One of the tools aboard our Perseverance Mars rover is a laser retroreflector. It works the same way a bike reflector does by bouncing light back in the direction of where it came from. Perseverance’s Laser Retroreflector Array, or LaRA, is a palm-size dome speckled with half-inch holes containing glass cells. In each cell are three mirrored faces positioned at 90-degree angles from one another to direct light out in the same direction it originated. This technology, which was first used during the Apollo Moon missions, could lead to safer landings on the Red Planet with the use of lasers on future Mars orbiters. It can also lead to interesting science, such as testing Einstein’s theory of general relativity since each planet’s orbit is influenced by the bend in space-time created by the Sun’s mass. #Mars #RedPlanet #Perseverance #lasers #OMGrobots #Apollo #space #exploration #SolarSystem #NASA #JPL - @nasajpl on Instagram

Up, up & away! The Saturn 1B streaks across the sky at 35,000 feet after liftoff of Apollo 7, Oct 1968. The 10-day, 20 hour mission was flown by Walter Cunningham, Don Eisele & Wally Schirra. The mission was the only crewed flight from Launch Complex 34 & would be the last spaceflight to lift off from that spot also. Backup crew for the mission was John Young, Gene Cernan & Tom Stafford; this trio would later go on to fly Apollo 10 in March 1969. #saturn1b #apollo7 #nasa #1968 #aerospace #rocketry #spaceflight #nasasocial #astronauts #spacetravel #1960s #nasa🚀 #spaceexploration #saturnvrocket #vintagespace #astronaut #apolloprogram #spaceprogram #projectapollo #spaceexplorer #saturnrocket #spacerace #spaceage - @astronotmovie on Instagram
