When I first started YTT in 2011 one of the first things I remember my teacher saying was if you can’t change your situation, change your perspective and that is advice I return to over and over again. If you aren’t willing to chose to change your situation or you are unable to because it’s beyond your reach, you owe it to yourself to change the way you are looking at it and accept it. The mind is so powerful and so creative that you really can change your life by changing the thoughts you bring in. The hardest part is getting quiet enough to listen to your Self. Then replace the thoughts that aren’t healthy with positive and healthy ones that will get you where you want to be. We let so much noise in, it only becomes more and more challenging to tune in but the tools are there. Remember the things you watch, listen to and read are YOUR choice. I ADORE this photo!!! 🖤 Taken by the talented @chantelandchantall, wow! Makeup by darling @marnelmakeup. Hair by my @toscasalon family. One of my all time favourites. (Just to be clear, I’m talking about the 1st photo in case you were wondering 😜) I love how my hair falls, the line of my jaw and the shape of my arms. The beautiful soft light, and the crisp, fresh feel about it. This is definitely how my mind thínk I always look: young, sensual and vibrating life. Clearly my rearview mirror has a bad habit of lying to me. Frequently. It must be the mirror, it’s not me ... 😉 We had a photoshoot last week for @2brunettesonabudget - my side hustle with friend @margaux_vandenberg. We shot over 200 items of stock that we had to organise, steam, style ánd model ourselves - in only 4 hours 😱😂 ... this means you get one shot per outfit. and. that. is. it. You can therefore imagine my surprise at seeing the 2nd photo, that have to sell the shirt I’m wearing, and realising that my rearview mirror speaks the truth. Same makeup. Same photographer. Same light. 2 minutes apart. Same person! Do I now suddenly change my sense of self based on a bad angle where TIRED is the descriptive word? Hell no!!! Still as young, vibrant, dynamic, mysterious and talented as ever. BUT ALSO tired, with bags under my eyes, thick thighs and wrinkles of 38 years spent laughing and crying in excess. These photo’s each capture á version of me. Neither one is all I am, and neither is entirely true. I am both, and then some. How we look on the outside is such a fickle thing! With só many variables that we can’t control. OUR WORTH CAN NÉVER BE TIED TO IT! It changes, it fades, it does not inspire. And if being pretty is the most interesting and worthy thing about you, then that is a problem, my dear darling, that you should sit and sit and sit and sit and sit and sit with. We are more interesting, complex, multidimensional, talented and mysterious creatures than the reduction of all we are, to the simplicity of a pretty picture ór a bad angle. Before I became a personal trainer and group fitness instructor, I had a few different careers. After going to a private college and studying Recording Arts Management, I started working in the music industry as a coordinator of small concerts, songwriter showcases and artist performances at the Canadian Country Music Week Awards. When I went to work at SOCAN, Canadas performing rights society for songwriters, I was in charge of organizing No. 1 song parties for songwriters whos song reached number one on a Canadian music chart. I then spent a number of years in corporate event planning at both the Ontario Chamber of Commerce and the Toronto Board of Trade. However, after getting married and having my son, my husband and I decided it was best for me to stay at home and take care of our family. Although this was so amazing and rewarding, I needed to find my passion again. And thats where I discovered fitness. Although I was always active, this career enabled me to stay fit, spend time with my family and interact and help people get fit.
