Some injuries need to be addressed by a specialist / therapist who in some cases may tell you to stop training initially. In these cases, you must listen because antagonising injuries only creates worse problems down the line! However, for those niggles which arent completely prohibitive, there are ways in which can target muscle fibre activation within this area without causing excessive strain, and in some cases incase and aid the recovery process. One of the best ways to do this is using high rep training! Why? When performing higher rep training correctly youre able to apply a lot of effective muscle tissue stimulation on that target muscle whilst using less weight to achieve that. As a result, the connective tissues within the area are less likely to become inflamed. Generally speaking, it is the lower rep, heavy training which can lead to more aggravation within a joint if there is pre-existing inflammation taking place. Dealing with joint issues as a competitive bodybuilder decades ago led me to experiment with high rep training, eventually leading me to devise the Y3T protocol as you know it today! Not only can it lead to less stress on the within joint areas, it forces much more blood into the the origin area. This is key to recovery for any tissue which is inflamed because of the extra nutrients being transported into the area - prompting faster recovery and aiding muscle tissue repair. Be intelligent with your training style and incorporate multi micro cycle rep ranges to aid recovery and force down injuries. - @y3tworld on Instagram

Following a few questions I got in todays Q&A I said I would do a post about training grip... This is something that is way too broad to answer in a story. Most people overlook the intricacies of training grip (as well as many other aspects of training). Hanging - hangs are a great exercise, and you need very limited equipment, just grab hold of a pull up bar, and hold on until you cant, then rest for 30s-2mins (depending on goals) and repeat. You can add @fatgripz to make these harder, or use a revolving bar or hang off a single arm. Finger Curls - as you can see from the image, there isnt a vast amount of muscles in the hand itself, however you can train the flexors in the forearm, @latticetraining have some really good videos about correct form on this movement Finger Extensors - Grip responds really well to training antagonist muscles, the @godsofgrip finger bands are a great tool to add to training and can be done at any time Suitcase holds - these are a great exercise, and they will have a great carry over to loads of events as needing to balance a bar leads to strengthening the little fingers which can massively increase overall grip strength. Grippers - the @godsofgrip grippers are a great addition to any training program, and can be used in a vast number ways, reps, max holds, partial reps etc. These are just a very small selection of potential grip strengthening exercises and one of the keys is to look outside of strongman/powerlifting specifically, climbers train grip in a generally focused way (with loads of faults in my opinion) however hanging and finger strengthening exercises could be a great addition to any athletes training. #strongman #powerlifting #weightlifting #strengthandconditioning #coaching #technique #grip #griptraining #gripstrength #climbing #climbingtraining - @dan_hipkiss on Instagram

During the first two years of my studies at the Imperial Academy of Arts, I paid close attention for the human anatomy. Let’s see, Im not a fan of studying anatomy in the classical sense. For me, the number of muscles and bones learned, how and where they are attached and finished, can’t positively affect the quality of a drawing or painting. In my first year, I was drawing all the bones of the skull so seriously that I want to say that I don’t see the point in it. I lost a lot of precious time for nothing, including remembering terms and concepts. What I consider useful in the studying of Human anatomy for artist: •Skull and l’ecorshe Houdon (I can’t advise to draw planar hear, cause it’s good for understanding, but not means you need to draw this. Just it’s too primitive) •Antique sculpture (the old tuning-fork test) • Facial features of David by Michelangelo (only as a standard of beauty, no more reason for stopping work with another references) • L’ecorche Houdon (including body parts separately) • Great old masters, first of all - Jusepe de Ribera. For my taste, the best example of the concept of human anatomy for artist. Also Peter Paul Rubens, Anthonys Van Dyck, Diego Velazquez and others. (Nobody canceled the Russian school, don’t worry). • Schemes and incredible drawings by Evgeniy Kurkov (9,10ths photos in post)- it’s the best examples. (I never use Gottfried Bammes and others) 🇷🇺Что считаю полезным для художника в изучении анатомии: * Череп гипосвый и настоящий, голова Гудона (обрубовку для рисования советовать не буду, примитивизм и схематизм, который можно посмотреть и осознать, но рисовать не стоит) * Античная скульптура может служить в этом вопросе своеобразным камертоном как в плане рисования головы, так и фигуры в целом. * Части лица Давида (только лишь как эталон прекрасного, никто не запрещает изучать детали и на других скульптурах) * Экорше (в том числе части тела в отдельности) * Великие мастера прошлого, в первую очередь - Jusepe de Ribera.
