There’s this road behind my old house that leads to the woods. I remember it clearly, like when I lost my childhood. I drive it almost every day in the deepest part of my mind. You, petal to the floor in the front seat screaming that life is never kind and I was hanging out the side window with the wind in my hair. Remember when we were there? You reached for my hand, but I gave my heart instead, so you made me a promise to keep it safe and in my head you were the kind of boy who I could trust. With something so fragile. You swore as the tires kicked up dust that we would be forever. We would never die. But that damn dirty road is where I learned that boys know how to lie...that boys take joy in making pretty girls cry. You said your arms were heavy, said you were done. That I was too good, swore there was no one...else. But I knew. It wasn’t true. There are roses blooming now. Back amongst the trees. And when I go home I think of you, when I can smell them in the breeze and I wonder what made such a beautiful boy decide that breaking me into pieces was the the best way to hide a fucking change of mind. You were right...life is always incredibly unkind. •••••• . . . This piece is for the @yourheartbeatsloud prompt to take an old piece and rework it. The second slide is the original poem I wrote in 10th grade about a boy who broke my heart. Clearly I still harbor some unresolved issues over it. And I may or may not have always been very dramatic. 🤣 oh and that last slide is me at 16! Trust. Its something which is needed in every sort of relationships. Its vital for it to work out I think. You need to trust someone to have a solid foundation of a relationship. Lets speak about trust and romantic relationships. Its a whole other topic for me and its something that I thought Id speak about. When it comes to relationships in a romantic way, its something which I struggle with alot. Whenever I think about this, it feels like an impossible task. Im always so afraid that I wont ever be able to trust someone in a romantic way. It already takes me alot and a long period of time to trust the majority of people. Due to the amount of time it takes me to trust others, Ive had people leave me because of that. One of my fears is that people would leave me in a relationship because of how long it takes me to trust. Ill do a whole post on my fears when it comes to relationship. I find it impossible to trust guys. For me, Ive always had horrible experiences with them so this has put me off relationships. For the time being, its put me off having relationships.
